  1. Pfft, 6"1 is nothing. Big Zander Clark is 6"3, very physical and strong and is regularly seen holding onto the ball every game. Also known for causing havoc in the oppositions box leading to important goals. Get big Zander up front David James circa 2005 style for an aerial bombardment the likes of which the world hasnt seen since WWII.
  2. Gerrard to Villa makes a lot of sense from his perspective if this does turn out to be true. Well supported club who back their manager financially and with the core of a decent team already. You only need to look at how Rodgers' stock has risen down south since taking over the Leicester job to see the attraction for Gerrard with half an eye on the Liverpool job ~2024. If he takes his backroom staff there is also McAllister who will know the club so should make a transition a bit easier. If hes offered it, I'd be pretty shocked if he doesnt take it. Can only hope Rangers refuse to agree compensation forcing him to quit and take the job without you lot getting a penny. The statements would be spectacular.
  3. And about 99% of them support one of two clubs. I, for one, am more than happy for these cretins to read the scummy rags and howl at each other about whatever their perceived injustice is that week. It makes it easier to spot the ones to ignore.
  4. People need to stop referring to The Sun, Daily Record, Daily Mail, etc, as if its actual meant to be journalism. They are well aware they are clickbait shite rather than actual journalistic pieces. We should treat them as such.
  5. Teams shouldn't be asked to play 2 games in 3 days if it can be avoided. As it can here by us playing on the Friday. Its really not that big a deal.
  6. Christ, if we arent restricting this to Scottish football, I'll have (in no particular order): Gigi Buffon - great player in his day but has been bang average for the past 10 years or so Petr Cech - again, very good, but his Chelsea record was more down to an fantastic defence rather than him being particularly fantastic. Also, shite bunnet. Eden Hazard - even at Chelsea there was something off about him, never quite got "it" with him the way I do with someone like Mo Salah. Sergio Ramos - great in the air and fantastic pace in recovery, but f**k me the number of times he gets caught out of position - Maldini he aint Franck Ribery - didnt watch him all that much in his prime, but never seemed particularly good any time I did watch him. Very "meh".
  7. Ferguson was a very, very good footballer. He fucking strolled it at EPL level. Anyone who says otherwise is at it. But.... I do think he could have done more in a Scotland shirt to lead the team during difficult moments. His Scotland career was spent mostly in fucking awful teams and we could have done with him stepping up more IMO.
  8. I was down in Sunderland for work a few years back and watched them against Notts Forest not long after Cummings had signed. He came off the bench that night and looked a class above most the players on the pitch. Genuinely looked faster and stronger than most the other players and his touch was majestic. Mind coming away from that game thinking he'd rip the Championship up once he got settled.....lol
  9. Of the current teams, I dont get the hype around Ryan Kent. The boys got a bit of pace and a trick in him, but for the ability he supposedly possesses he should be absolutely ripping the pish week in week out and getting 15+ goals and assists each season. If Rangers get anywhere near £10m for him they've played a blinder. On a national team front, I'm going to commit absolute sacrilege and say I dont get the massive hype around John McGinn. Hes turned into a bit of a luxury player for us who, thankfully, has popped up with loads of goals recently, but I actually think his all round play has been pretty pish for a while and might end up a bit of a passenger when the goals likely dry up. Dont get me wrong, I'd still start him, but i find the "Super John McGInn" thing a bit cringe when 90% of the game hes pretty anonymous. I will caveat this and say I think Clarke has him positioned too high up the pitch and that doesnt suit his strengths so its not all his fault but aye, dont get the huge hype around him.
  10. You are absolutely right, public perception is huge for anyone in the public eye. More so in such a small melting pot like Scottish football. You've got to question, then, why Malky hasnt tried to change that public perception to his behaviour by getting involved with anti-racism, anti-homophobia charities. Yes, it might be superficial and just for show, but he could at least have claimed to see the error of his ways and how the things he said can hurt people and look to stop others from making similar mistakes in their language. But he hasnt done any of that in the 8 years since it all came out. He'll carry this around with him for the rest of his managerial/coaching career and he 100% only has himself to blame. For that reason I have no hesitation on calling the guy a c**t for the foreseeable future.
  11. The problem is that Malky Mackay moved on the second he got his jotters from Cardiff. Its hard to give him the benefit of the doubt about him being or not being a racist, misogynistic homophobe when the guy has time and again refused the opportunity to own his mistakes, properly apologise or sought to make amends. The general vibe of the guy is that he isnt particularly bothered by the things he sent, only that he got caught and vilified for it. He also just comes across as a complete c**t of a man so doubtful people are going to be very forgiving in the long run.
  12. There is a massive difference between Bates holding onto Sakala's jersey and him pulling him back. For it to be a foul, Bates has to actually impede the attacker. The laws of physics dont allow for both Bates pulling Sakala back and the way Sakala attempts the mistimed header. One of the worst penalty decisions Ive seen in ages. Pathetic Sportscene dont have the balls to call it out.
  13. Auch, f**k right off with that patter today. Scottish football just lost one of its very best figures and seemed to be a genuinely nice guy who was loved by those who knew him. Its really not the time to go on the wind up. RIP
  14. That Hamilton are absolute dug meat and should be really worried about a double relegation. On us, when we're on it, we'll batter most teams going forward. But not sure were defensively sound enough to battle to the type of hard earned wins you need for a title push. Based on everyone else, it'll be a disappointment if not in the top 4 but doubt it'll be top 2 unless we shore up big time.
  15. Christ. Look forward to the sequel with every time Gerrard has said his "yeah" catchphrase, because...balance?
  16. Dont think theres much between the teams, but IMHO I think Thistle have the best attack in the league so that should see us win more games than we dont. Tighten up at the back and we should be top 3 or 4 pretty comfortably. With this looking like a fairly weak Championship overall, anything else would be a bit of a failure tbh.
  17. What's happened with Jamie Hamilton? Seemed to be destined for big things and a move down south, but now struggling for game time a division down and with such a leaky defence? Also, is Brian Easton just done? He's a family friend so would be sad to see his career go out with a whimper.
  18. I mind reading about him a few years ago becaue he had made his Rochdale debut at 15 and scored against Man Utd at 16. Think Wolves beat a lot of clubs for his signature as well. I get he's still young, but he looked short of anything close to talented tonight. Wee guy might have legit peaked at 16.
  19. Wasnt this always the case? *Yes, yes their arse cheek brothers as well
  20. The swastika is/was a symbol of divinity and spirituality in India while also being seen as a good luck sign in western society. But it doesnt mean that in 2021 its appropriate to send someone a swastika before a big exam now does it? It doesnt matter if the original song is entirely inoffensive and the most appropriate choice, once that song has been b*****dised by a bunch of arseholes, the song itself takes on a new meaning. Given that people have been charged with singing the b*****dised version in the past few months, it is at the very least a fucking daft move on Rangers' part to include this in official promotion material.
  21. Its been used at the last 4 Scotland games I've been to and I honestly barely noticed or thought about it for the most part and, for me personally, it didnt take any enjoyment out of anything, particularly the Israel game. Even with the delay for Dyke's goal, it was obviously a different feeling, but it wasnt a bad feeling for me, more a nervous anticipation of the decision. I thought it worked well in all 4 games I've been at and would be all aboard the VAR train if thats how it was used. Do I trust Scottish football and Scottish refs not to make a total arse of it though? Absolutely not. But everyone is different and some have different, more negative, experiences of it. If the vast majority of fans are against it, which they are, its hard to argue it should be introduced.
  22. People on here have literally said theyll stop going if its introduced. Whether thats an empty threat or not, of course, is a different question. Yeah, totally with you on that. Football, like all sports, changes all the time; some of the times its small changes, some big changes. I'm too young to remember it, but I'd imagine there was similar outcry when the offside rule or pass back rules were introduced, as with things like all seater stadiums and shirt sponsors being introduced. The world changes, we moan about it, we move on and get used to it, onto the other thing to moan about*. And the cycle will continue. * football fans are going to absolutely fucking flip when (I'll repeat...when) heading is limited or outright banned.
  23. Not nearly as weird as people saying they will stop going to support their clubs because every so often there might be a short delay as the ref looks at a replay or gets confirmation a goal is legit. Its inevitably going to happen, so I'm not going to get too stressed out or overly annoyed about it when it does happen (partly cause Thistle are unlikely to be effected in the short term to be fair). Loads of people on here sound like they will though, so should at least be a bit of a laugh.
  24. f**k it, I'm now leaning towards pro-VAR just to witness the heads gone meltdown that'll happen on here.
