  1. Dodds will be shitting bricks right now that it was announced a few months back by that firm of accountants in Jersey that all the EBT crew better get their shit together as the taxman intends to go after them. He’ll have debts, that’s for sure and will need all the money he gets. The other options are doing a Barry and signing all the assets over to the wife and declaring bankrupt or taking on the Romanian sex gangs and setting up as a rival pimp on Seagate.
  2. Don’t doubt it. As far as senior grounds in Glasgow go though as an example, struggling to think of any closer.
  3. I see. That’ll be why one of them was moved to a portocabin for a few months.
  4. Good question. To be fair the actual centre of a town or city would need to be established. I’m not sure on this but I think whenever you see a sign saying Glasgow, the distance is measured from George Square and likewise for everywhere else. In Glasgow’s case would that make Celtic or Thistle’s ground the closest? You’d also have to go as the crow flies. So an established centre and a crow fly distance would be a good rule. It’s actually quite a challenging question and one I’d like to see the answer too. Are we talking senior league teams only?
  5. This has popped up before. Never tire of seeing it. Imagine walking up those steps and being the last into a big game and hearing the noise. Must’ve been fucking mental. All in flat caps and tweeds. Isn’t there a similar one for Dens?
  6. Mad when you think of what’s there now. That’s a great photo. Updated it to show the difference.
  7. I’d agree but what I do like about the new layout is the new road that comes off the A9 and goes round the back of the ground. Been up with the drone to get some video but it started raining. It’s a part of the ground that not many have seen from that perspective. I stay 2 minutes from the old Muirton, round the corner from Bannerman’s and Chas Stewart’s place and have watched the Muirton area being redeveloped over the last ten years. I moved there 11 years ago to work at St.C’s and then moved into the fairly new North Inch Community Campus. I watched the demolition of the old tenements, which to be honest were fucking stinking and needed to be torn down. I like the new flats they’ve built next to McDonald’s too but WTF have they done to the Muirton shops. They’ve redeveloped the whole area and left those stinking flats untouched above the shops. Not being from Perth, my only memory was as a youngster going to a game with my Dad at the old ground. Wasn’t it the biggest pitch in the UK at the time?
  8. Might change the name of the thread to Killie goals v Celtic at this rate.
  9. Must admit, whilst it was a goal against us, I’ve always loved this photo. The look on Boyd’s face says it all. Horrendous mix up of a goal. It probably is so quintessentially a Scottish international photo as you’ll get. Sums us up really. A glorious chance before we eventually and inevitably piss all over our own chips.
  10. Thought about posting this in the Photographic History thread but felt it could be served by one of its own as there is a wide variety of all sorts of photos on it and the criteria here’s a bit narrower. What’s your favourite photograph of your favourite team? Needs to be from a game, during a game etc... Always been a fan of some of the press photos taken during games. If you’ve got a photo of your own taken on your phone, Polaroid or any other means then all the better.
  11. Here’s some flute music. Herbie Mann. Ultimate chillax. If only the 12th July sounded like this then I might consider becoming an Orangeman.
  12. Some good point system in this thread, and some bad. Personally I find the way the HoF went about the nomination and the retraction was wrong. Dangling the carrot in front of Gazza, and also the Rangers support, and then retracting it because of the backlash from people opposed to it tells me it wasn’t thought through very well. How the hell no one on the committee didn’t foresee this coming is beyond me. It’s a question of precident. Let Gazza in, you need to let all and everybody in. The wider question that I ask myself is about the actual criteria for getting in. Gazza was some player for Rangers but like an earlier poster noted, he didn’t light the stage in Europe which is the main reason he was brought up here. He won some leagues and cups at a time when Rangers could’ve won them without him. Played around 100 games and the only thing people really remember is the goals against Aberdeen at Ibrox, the flute playing and getting booked for ‘booking’ the referee. I think the real reason he was nominated was because he was simply a big name. Yes, he was a good player but I could name many other Rangers players who had more of an effect on the league who weren’t Scottish. My own view is that regardless of the wife beating, sexual harassment claims, alcoholism and general ‘lad’ behaviour, he shouldn’t have been nominated at all. The man has had these problems for a while and should be left in peace to deal with them. It’s his problem, his demons and his responsibility to do so. Even consideration for nomination thrusts Gazza into the limelight for his life to be picked over. If this was some attempt to perk him up a bit then it was wrong and it failed. Now we have a situation where all and everyone is throwing in their opinions of suitability. So what is the actual criteria? For example is it service to the game? The effect they have had? Iconic status? No one actually knows but it seems there is a very loosely applied criteria. And where do we go next? Do we nominate Ricksen as a tribute to him before he dies, and before the usual suspects jump all over this suggestion, try and understand what I’m trying to say. He wasn’t an iconic Scottish player but some would be scared to speak up against him because of his illness. Is this actually a Hall of Fame or just a roll call of those we have time for and those we don’t?
  13. I suppose if Rangers fans really want to pay homage to Gascoigne then they should re-energise their idea for a fan zone and erect a statue of him in a special area designated for it using stolen lead. They could do it in the Albion car park. Call it the Gazza Plaza.
  14. Tbh, Off the Ball has been on the slide for years. Tam mentioned during the show on Saturday about the policy of him and Stuart have of always making sure there was one of them at least to do the show in case they got replaced. That spell when they started doing it more regular was a turning point for me. I liked the old format as a poster mentioned earlier, when Ford Kiernan did the voices for sketches and they had a competition that you could win a prize although is not their fault they had to stop prizes. It now seems an ensemble cast taking turns to host the half eaten carcass of a show that has had its day long ago. They should simply bring back collective noun and “the answer is” competitions as they were genuinely the bst things about the show. I also seem to remember the odd, in fact rare occasion years back when OtB would be on a Sunday straight after Jim Traynor’s phone in. Ahhhhh! The Jim Traynor phone in days. In fact, I’d much rather listen to Traynor back on the radio for 2 hours every Saturday trying to back track and explain his behaviour over the last few years whilst taking difficult calls from callers wanting to call him out. That would be worth a listen.
  15. I get that. I was just wondering how that squared with the club. The letters, for instance Flo’s, said the club.
  16. I think she’s quite cute to be honest. Pretty tidy too. Hates Rangers. My kinda gal. Anyone know her?
  17. Ooooft! And that’s from a well established supporters group that cites one of its main aims as role models to the soccer academy’s they set up. I think Houston should get VB to proof read his statements. That’s a belter.
  18. I was thinking something similar so here’s how I read it. I distinctly remember David Murray saying in court that it was the club, not the company, that indemnified the player’s EBT’s. According to the outfit from Govan, it was the company that died, not the club. They claim that the club are the same. Many players had EBT’s and are now having to pay them back. So does that mean that the current club, yes the current and same club as stated billions of time by Rangers fans are now liable for the repayment of their players taxes? Kind of painted themselves into a corner on this one haven’t they? Or will they refer the liability to the old company like they did with that Neely victim a few months back? Can’t have your cake and eat it although I imagine they think they can. Are we about to see a return of a BTC?
  19. Oh dear, my apologies MT. I never realised everyone on here was being assessed on their grammar and use of English. Both typos. You can make a ‘moot’ point about my spelling if you like but if that’s what gets your rocks of then maybe you should converse with Kincy, the self proclaimed garbler of shite throughout these pages. I think everyone got the theme of what I was saying. When you choose to be pedantic it only highlights the lack of proper issues to debate on your part. FYI I am a teacher too. Glad to see that you think that everyone with a degree should speak 100% perfect English though. Last time I checked I believe the pass mark for an A in English was around 85% although I’m not 100% sure. No doubt you’ll correct me on it. I’ll await the response from Professor of English Monkey Tennis with glee, as you’re perfect in every respect I imagine.
  20. And just so you don’t go away in a huff, one of my jobs is a freelance camera man.
  21. I’ll keep my profession a secret but please explain why someone’s job is relevant?
  22. For the first time ever, I agree with something that Drunkardine says, but in a minor way. Rangers weren’t ‘forced’ to join the bottom tier. If the word ‘forced’ is to be used then it should be that Rangers ‘forced’ themselves into the bottom tier by way of their actions, actions they have still never properly apologised for or squared up for. Rangers, and their fans, were desperate to stay in the SFL at the time. Funnily enough, when 10 teams voted against the Newco getting back into the top league the club, and it’s fans only really singled out Dundee Utd and Celtic for that unique style of Rangers backlash, which was and still is pretty pathetic. You could say that all the other SFL clubs were ‘forced’ to make a decision that they shouldn’t have had to make. Rangers should’ve done this of their own accord. If they weren’t desperate to get back into the top league then why did they make such a song and dance about it. Cue the next vote. The lower 3 division’s teams were asked to allow Newco (as they then became) to leapfrog the process and get straight into the first division. Again, Newco fans were desperate to get in but it was not to be as the vote went against them. It was only at this point did Newco fans start saying they didn’t want it to happen anyway which is a pretty mute point seeing as the only real option was to start afresh as a new team in the bottom league. Had they been saying this from the very start I may have had some respect for them. So, it became the fact that the new boys of Scottish football had no option other than start afresh in the bottom tier. Poor them. They then act like it’s what they wanted all along, quoting integrity and other words. At no point did they acknowledge their wrongdoings properly. The cooked up some shit story about journeys and helping other clubs when in fact everything they had done up till then was quite the opposite. Now they’re back, where they say they belong. Spouting the usual sectarian pish at every opportunity with a chairman who has galvanised the ‘we were hard done by’ line. The authorities bent over backwards to help them throughout yet Newco have a vandetta against them. Worth noting however that every team who had to vote concerning this shit storm of a club was well within their rights to vote whatever way they wanted. Newco’s narrative was poor. I don’t like the Tories but it doesn’t mean I’ll go after their representatives and such like at every opportunity. Also worth noting that whilst Newco singled out Celtic and Dundee Utd for ‘special treatment’, they didn’t apply the same to every other club who voted against them and ultimately in the interests of integrity, of which Newco have none. In a nutshell, Newco can’t handle what they done to themselves, made harder by the fact that they were no longer the establishment club, and also can’t handle the fact that all other clubs voted against them which was the right thing to do. They now clasp this agenda so tightly because they just don’t have it in them to admit the truth; they pissed on their own chips, were found out and nobody wanted to make allowances for them. So, in summary, Kincy was slightly right but in general still full of shite and one of the Newco fans who can’t handle it either, that’s why he posts up so much shite on here to perpetuate the twisted narrative he has become so fond of. Oh, and poor old Spartans....
