Would like to see Bakayoko finally benched for this one, don't rate him at all. He also started the rot last night by standing like a plank of wood for the 1st goal.

    Thank you.

    Agreed.

Been up and down with him all season but I've finally came to the conclusion he's not what we need - definitely need better for next season to improve further as a club.

Mellon and Main starting hopefully for this one. Mains goal that was unfortunate to be chalked off last night was real bullying of a defender which Bakayoko hasn't got in his locker.

I'd be dropping big Joe aswell for something like:

    Carson

    McGhee Lamie Donnelly Beck

    Mulligan Sylla Boateng

    McCowan

    Main Mellon

    Thank you.

Horrendous result but if you don't play well against the Old Firm, and they look up for it, it happens.

Top 6 is still achievable with a few good results.

It's luck if we do. Hibs are way ahead of us.

This season won't go down as a failure in any case, however top six will be out the window when we fail to beat Killir on Saturday.

    Thank you.

  3. Dreadful line up this evening.

McCowan, Boateng and Robertson as your central midfield away to Celtic. Genuinely not a surprise conceding so many with that centre of the park trio. The strikers were inept aswell as Bakayoko has been in most games against decent opposition.

Doesn't all fall on the defence tonight and also doesn't warrant toys out the pram.

    Thank You.

  4. Dundee United horsed at home to Airdrie and on the brink of financial ruin unless Captain Bird's-eye can secure what was guaranteed promotion.

The Perth in a three way battle of the Diddies with Livi and Dingwall to see who is banished from the top league.

Hamilton back where they belong and miles behind the leading Falkirk.

The Arbroath rooted to the bottom under Jim McIntyre.

The Morten picking up just in time to take points off the DABs and reach the play offs before their season ultimately ending in failure.

The Celtic absolutely fuming with Derry up next to knock them further into heads gone territory.

    Thank you.

  5. Hibs have looked the better side in all three outings against Dundee. A deserved win and there can be no complaints.

Don't get how they've had such a bad season from what i've witnessed this season.

It looks like it's a straight shoot out between the HiDees for sixth.

    Thank you.

  6. We're clearly better than the diddies this season but lacking against the better teams. What's the reason?

Looking to next season we need to add more pace. Out of Boateng, Sylla, McCowan and Cameron  you couldn't call any of them bad players but for that extra level you need more grit and speed.

At right back McGhee has been very useful of late but he still isn't top six quality. He's earned his right to be in the squad next season but we should be looking to improve.

Goalkeeping errors of late against St Mirren and Hibs have cost us against top six rivals. Really poor from Carson who is clearly a good goalkeeper which is the most frustrating thing.

As for the strikers, when up against your non dugmeat variety of teams they've not been upto scratch unfortunately. We need more pace in that area aswell.

If we wanted a really strong top six contending side I think the only players we could have in our starting 11 are Carson( on his day), Lamie, Sylla and McCowan - not including loan players.

Hopefully Astley can show something before the seasons end and a fully fit Main can definitely contribute to a successful squad.

    Thank you.

  7. The best team won today as they've looked against us all season.

When you look at our results against Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock and St Mirren it's probably one of the worst returns in the division. We're not quite there yet, but we are in with a shout of top six with seven games until the split.

Three points needed against Kilmarnock next Saturday and if it doesn't come we can have no complains over a bottom six finish.

The game was in the balance today and Carson had a howler. Not good enough despite the decent display afterwards from him. The strikers in particular also failing to deliver against the better teams.

All steps in the process though and it shouldn't be forgotten a year ago we were looking like losing out on the Championship title to a woeful Queens Park side.

    Thank you.

Lee Ashcroft is available. Not played since August and hardly makes the bench for us.

Played every week last season in our promotion and very able at Championship level.

    A no brainer IMO.

Finn Robertson also available I'd presume. Happy to help.

    Thank you.

Happy to help as stated previously.

    Thank you.

I’ve lost count of the amount of games Shaughnessy has headed everything out the box. Surprised some are saying they haven’t seen that. Anyway, mute debate because we’re all saying that he’s a valuable part of the side.

    Roll on Saturday.

Edited to add: he has looked suspect recently but his positioning and reading of the game is far better than any of our other defenders IMO. Easy to overlook that.

Maybe you've lost them cause it didn't happen. If you mention dominant with heading I immediately think of Ashcroft at Aberdeen and pretty much every game he plays. That's his main attribute.

I've never came away with that feeling with Shaughnessy, plus he's a different build. Wouldn't exactly call him a colossus although for the record of course he's twice the player of Ashcroft.

His reading of the game does negate his pace issues and he does communicate better than most defenders - probably why he's captain. He's been very shaky the last month however and that's facts. Let's hope on Saturday he's back on it and I'd definitely be playing a back three with the likes of Boyle on the big pitch in Leith.

    Thank you.

I’ll give you he’s performed better in a 3 but at no point in this season have I not had him starting a game whether in a 4 or a 3. The reason he’s better in a 3 is he’s left to go and attack everything. That’s his strength, he’s excellent in air. Both defensive and attacking set pieces he’s the one to go an attack the ball. Even the long throw ins, if it’s not him taking the throw it’s Donnelly trying to find him with it. Vocally it’s him and Carson organising things. He’s a massive, massive part of the side imo and been a great signing.

There’s no doubting Beck’s been exceptional this season but you do tend to pick a side around the core of the team down the middle and the rest fit in around it. If everyone’s fit the team starts Carson, Shaughnessey, McCowan nobody will disagree with that.

Not for me. Beck is more important to the team than Shaughnessy by a considerable distance. Beck missing at LB can't be replaced, not just with his defensive abilities but with his assists and contribution to the attacking phase of our play. A back three of Lamie; Donnely and Portales wouldn't see much difference.

The core of the team would include Sylla or Boateng as they are more closely linked to the defensive side.

Of course you're entitled to your view and i'll have mine.

    Thank you.

Come on aye. The guys at the centre of everything defensively. Wins header after header and organised everyone around him. No ones dropping Joe. Allowed a bad game or 2 giving the amount of games he’s played since mid January.

He's not at the centre of everything defensively, simple as that, although as Spuddy alluded to he's a brilliant communicator and probably just what the likes of Donnelly and Beck need. He's been an important part of the squad this season and overall has contributed well.

In a back three he's excelled in some matches whilst notching a few important goals which has raised his stock with the fans . In a back two he's struggled multiple times and St Johnstone taegetted him almost scoring on multiple occasions had they not been dugmeat. It's not that wild to suggest Lamie would perform better there in the two.

Didn't ask for him to be dropped and as Captain it's not going to happen anyway. Just pointing out the facts and he's no colossus in the air don't know if I've missed that - he's just a very competent centre back (which is a great improvement on recent years).

Joe is the first name on the team sheet. Been an absolute colossus.

No he's not. Beck and McCowan would be ahead of him as first picks.

    Thank you.

  12. A big match for two historic clubs in this country. May the best side win.

Great rendition of Sunshine on Leith. Pride in their local area and the club at the heart of it through generations. That's a proper club, unlike your Livis, Hamiltons, St Mirrens and Dundee Utds.

    Thank you.

Either Joe or Luke McCowan 1st names on the team sheet for me. Portales does well in a back 3 not seen him in a back 4 yet.

You’d drop Cameron, that’s a shock to put it mildly!

I’d like to see the 3 behind Mellon be Mulligan, McCowan and Cameron. Think that would be awesome.

Big Joe has been one of our worst performers over the past few weeks and his pace causes issues which may come to a head at Easter Road. May sound out the blue but it's also true.

Lamie and Donnelly are our strongest pairing with the four at the back IMO.

Boo. If there’s no Fabian my season ticket is going straight back.

Had to double take there with the new picture. Now even more beautiful than usual Spuddy.

Tickets selling well for Hibs. I'll be enjoying the day out win, lose or draw. We're safe as houses in the league and every game now is a chance to reach top six where if it doesn't come off there's absolutely no failure attached. Strange territory for all Dees; enjoy it while we can folks.

    Thank you.

  14. Huge match against Hibs next week.  Any sort of points from there and we have to go to favourites for top six.

Great to see Tiffoney get two goals but he is still showing signs that his final ball and decision making is going to have to improve. Lets hope today kicks him on. Start him and Costelloe again next week and see what they can do at The Hibs.

Massive matches coming up all over the shop in what should be an exciting end to the season. All whilst Captain Birdseye does his best to wreck guaranteed promotion over the road.  Get them up and funding our revival IMO, that's of course if we play them at Dens before they're officially relegated or thereabouts in which case the flooding from the miniscule away support may be the final nail in the coffin for the historic Dens Park as we move onto pastures new to kick on from our skint rivals. If Utd get promoted they are absolutely fucked and I'm looking forward to taking them to the cleaners on their own turf. Wonder how large the Tony Watts waistline will be by then - been taking tips off Granny Danger on genral slobbiness.

For those counting the points gap from the bottom it's time to back these players who hold so much talent. Carson, Beck, Cameron, McCowan, Donnelly, Mellon and Sylla - these aren't our usual bunch of jobbers  in Dark Blue. We have a talented squad who can get us top six; let's get behind the cuntos for the remainder of the season.

As for the Perth looking in, how's the 'genuine top six chance' calls of last week going you deluded morons. They were told how the results would go but wouldn't listen. As I often do looking ahead to other teams fixtures you can see where points will be made up but pie chart man has the foresight of Ray Charles.

    We move on.

    Thank you.

  15. Looks like the Dingwall have given up on their team and headed back to the Shinty fields and forests in the hunt for foxes.

Hopefully you can stick around for another season and let the Perth slip away into the seaside leagues first. At least there's some beautiful scenery in your neck of the woods so you have something going for you unlike the barren depression of central Perth.

Within a season there's always a dreadful home loss out of nowhere such as The Arbroath last season. Looking at the fixtures this is most likely going to be it.

With fixtures elsewhere a win here would be unreal for the Derry.

    Thank you.

Good 4-1 win for the reserves today , Jamie Richardson got two , lamie got some game time , so all in all seems like it was a good workout against Kilmarnock

    Thank you.

Saturday will probably come too early for Lamie to start so I'd be going:

    Carson

    McGhee Astley Shaughnessy Donnelly Beck

    Cameron Sylla

    McCowan Bakayoko Costelloe

Tiffoney isn't upto it IMO and Astley has to be fit by now. Should be enough to beat the Dingwall which is a must if top six is to come off.

    Thank you.

So what was the Dundee player thinking who, after the injury, took the ball and went on a run into the penalty area thinking? Or his team mates who also kept on playing? Or the St Johnstone players who also kept on playing? Maybe no-one realised it was a really bad, life endangering injury apart from your doctor, whose prompt action literally saved Michael Mellons life. Lets just hope he gets out of hospital soon.

Whats that you say? He's already home? Oh, perhaps the Dundee over the top narrative isnt that accurate after all.

Took the ball, went on a run and got brought down as you put it. 3-4 seconds - must've been a cheetah on the pitch ye daft b*****d.

The moaners are right in this case. We should be paying all our staff. The fact some are only interested in it to have a pop is beside the point.

If we can be affording the manpower to strike 'strategic partnerships' with Burnley we can afford to pay a kid one day a week to get their start in life.

Pish. It's perfect for someone starting up or looking to develop for the benefit of their own future. That's if they can get over not having around 9 hours a week paid for three months.

Internships are common in many industries and are usually the starting blocks. Know a boy who started off with a Barclays internship (unpaid) and the contacts and experience he received set him up for life despite no job straight away on conclusion. The volunteer will be put into a working environment where he'll be exposed to people within the industry which is invaluable and can create links on your likes of LinkedIn and no less the mighty Dundee FC.

It is what it is; if someone uses it well it can pay them in their lengthy career where three months unpaid will be a drop in the ocean.

Most likely the person who applies will have other commitments already and sees this as a great chance of development whilst following the club they support. There will no doubt be some perks to the job too including snapping pictures of Livi morons as they're relegated and Dingwall and Perth Dungaree clad fuds as they get their pitch forks out in the battle of the play-off diddy merchants.

This will either make sense or it won't can't be fucked reading it back and went on a speil.

    Thank you.

It looked like an accidental clash of heads. The ref should have stopped play slightly sooner, but play only went on for another 3 or 4 seconds before he did stop play.

Its great young Mellon is ok, but all this over the top hyperbole about a life endangering injury, on top of his comments after Wednesday night, makes me think there is only one manager allowed to act like a total fanny, and now Adams is away, Tony Doc is taking up the mantle.

The play went on long enough for Perth to concede a penalty and a player to run from the halfway line with the ball you moron.

    Deary me.

    Thank You.

It gives wealthy people who can afford to work for free the chance to do something. Poor people who need to put food on the table need not apply.

    At least the living wage.

If you want to apply and it can help further your future in any way then apply , if not then shut your pus and get on with your day. Coming on the Internet to whine about internships. f**k me.

    Thank you.

I don't agree with it (unpaid) but there's plenty of huge companies doing it. In fact even some companies in America that are charging to do it which is horrific.

How much should Dundee FC be paying for 9am-5pm one day a week and to attend matches with the media team?

    Thank you.
