Arbroath v Inverness
Housecaptain replied to 1320Lichtie's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Although I am a season ticket holder I consider it would be better to allow 500 to pay at the gate as this would help to defray expenses thus helping the club to survive through this difficult period . As to how this would be administered is another matter. -

As far as I am aware this has been mooted but Dunfermline were not in agreement. -
P.S. should have read when men in Dundee etc;
-
A Dundonian has a cheek suggesting that. I remember when in Dundee were called kettle boilers as very few worked and stayed at home boiling kettles.
-
Remember being at Gayfield in 1953 when we played Rangers in the cup and there was 13000 in the ground and there was bags of room.

I am sure I read on the Arbroath website last week that he will be back in time for the game in Greenock. -

100 years ago to-day one of Scotland's and Arbroath goal-keepers died, yes Ned Doig. Described in yesterdays Scotsman as the the Prince of talents amongst the Team of all the Talents that won the English First Division and was one of 10 Scots in the Sunderland team in 1894-95.He later joined Liverpool at the age of 37 and was layed to rest in Anfield Cemetery.. This is a two paged article in the Scotsman and is too large to repeat here but there is no doubt that Ned was loved by the fans of all the teams he played for and this article is well worth a read and would make good reading if it is possible to reproduce in a match programme. -
Dundee United v Arbroath 21/09/19
Housecaptain replied to Granny Danger's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Can some-one please tell me if there is an area set aside for Arbroath fans before I purchase my ticket on-line. I tried to e-mail Gayfield but it was refused.[ has A.F.C. changed their e-mail address I did it on the new web site and expected it to be okay.] -
Was not there to-day so therefore may be wrong of me to comment , however for Spence to get booked within 5 minutes is ridiculously careless and jeapordised himself and the team with his actions. Must have been bad to get booked so early. Also find it hard to understand why McKenna is on the bench so often after his diaplays last season. I really think Dick has got to arrange some loan deals for a front man and a wide player before we find ourselves cast adrift of the pack.

Certainly agree with this. We definitely need a player like B.Kerr or Falkingham in the middle of the park as Swankie certainly is not the answer. Also need a wide player and a goal scorer or it is going to be a long hard season.

Arbroath also played Ipswich at Gayfield and beat them 1-0 the goal being scored by none other than Barrie Mitchell later sold to Aberdeen for £10k a lot of money in 1968. The team always used to always go to. England on a pre-season tour in these days and were once beating Q.P.R. 3-0 at half- time only to lose 3-5 .Also remember they went to America. when Liz McCogans brother was our captain. -

A Championship league opener against one of the Dundee teams would be a good money spinner on the day we unfurl the League 1 winners flag. -

I take it you mean D. Jamieson the keeper, cannot see this anywhere on the official website? -

Not really surprising considering Dick brought in 2 strikers [alledgedly?] and dropped Wallace. The new players only scored 1 competitive goal between them and had we not had a healthy lead in the league it is my opinion we would have been struggling to get promoted with the fore mentioned players. -

Dick stated in his interview after the Raith that there were friendlies arranged against Hibs and Dundee for next season but if Dundee are relegated this would probably change. -

Did anyone hear Dick's interview on the radio after the game when he stated he was not sure if LInn would be at Arbroath next season. -

Considering we did not have Linn to-day I think Dick got his team selection right.Same team next week please, with Doris coming on as a sub and Swankie later.Play as we did to-day and hopefully we should be okay. -

I did not realize adults were the same as us as a senior citizen I was going by that. By the way I was at Edinburgh City v Peterhead recently and I paid more than Gayfield as I re-call. -

Should we be in the Championship next season I think prices will have to be raised to cover an increase in wages etc; also compared to some teams in our league at present e.g. East Fife our prices are cheap. -

Certainly hope Linn is not out but if he is whoever takes his place has really got to be at their best.Kader or Gold I would think. -

Agree with this totally Swankie was rank to- day and just like the last time at STation Park he was the cause of a goal. Spence when he came on was pathetic and we have to ensure that we somehow manage not to bring him or Donnelly as substitutes.Denholm another failure. Dick's efforts to strengthen the team at the transfer window have not been successful and he has to carry the can for that.Any failure to achieve our goal rests with him -

Just hope Dick gets his team and tactics right for the Forfar game and if this means swallowing his pride and dropping his festive period then so be it.
