  1. What a feeble excuse! Does he think we are still living in the days of steam packet companies? Thousands of fans of all Scottish Football Clubs are living and working abroad, many of us posting here on P & B, constantly and continually in touch with what is going on back home. Yon interweb is an amazing thing.

  3. There is a traveler lost in the countryside and he stops to ask a local they way to the nearest large city. The local stops and thinks for a while and then answers: “Well, if I was you, I wouldn’t be starting from here”. The joke has been cited in print since at least 1924, when an Englishman asked an Irishman for directions. The joke has been applied to mean that if a person wanted to get there (a successful place), he or she wouldn’t start from here (a humble place). This, unfortunately, is where Falkirk FC and the FSS and others supporters organisations find ourselves. It is precisely because we are languishing in tier 3 that all of these laudable efforts to raise cash for the club are so important. Sadly, the timing couldn’t be more wrong due to external factors such as Covid, rising fuel and energy costs, rising mortgages etc. However, we can’t give up, we have to keep trying to raise the necessary funds to help get us where we all would like to be. Due to circumstances, it just might take us longer than we would all like. We have to start from somewhere, what better place than here (and now)?
  4. Ah well, looks like I misread the room and the mood. Post deleted and my apologies for any offence caused.
  5. Lighten up. Signing Goodwillie's a disgrace and a serious matter. Just taking the piss as I usually do.
  6. This 100%. "Quiet here today boys. I like it quiet".
  7. Re: Goodwillie signing for Raith Rovers, I’m really quite conflicted at the moment; on the one hand I want to give a right GIRFUY to all their posters who have come on this thread and given us dog’s abuse and reveled in our discomfiture at our situation over the last few seasons, especially that p***k @raith raver. On the other hand, however, I do feel a lot of sympathy for their decent supporters who are rightly disgusted and embarrassed by the signing. We came within a baw hair of being in their predicament – PHEW!!
  8. @HopeStreetWalkerTo paraphrase John McEnroe, away an' no' talk shite. This is straight out of the Gary Holt playbook, dishing out long term deals to crap footballers such as Brad McKay, Seb Ross, Jaime Wilson etc. Nope, going forward, and whether the management team is Rennie and Miller or A N Other, the longest deal any player should get is 18 months and every deal we give out henceforth should be loaded with caveats such as goals scored, clean sheets kept, promotion achieved, early termination of contracts permitted and so forth. Paul Watson is a much better defender than McKay and he was happy to accept an 18 month deal so it is doable. As @Top of Meeks Roadsays, It has to be horses for courses and the players that we sign to get us out of League 1, whenever that might be as doesn't look likely this season, won't be the same players who will get us into the Premiership, whenever that might be.
  9. Changing it during a match is what every manager is expected to do if the tactics aren't working. This. I was totally against Sheerin's appointment right from the off and I gave him stick for his inability to see that changes sometimes needed to made to our formation and tactics as situations / the opposition required. Just because I was 100% in favour of Rennie's appointment doesn't mean that I am going to wear rose coloured specs and say that everything he does is wonderful when at times it obviously isn't. His performance yesterday was every bit as bad as some of Sheerin's offerings and he needs to be called out for it.

  11. I see your post then rush over to the Falkirk Twitter page and - nowt.
  12. It has happened before. McGlynn's predecessor at Hearts, George Burley, got sacked for being brilliant - in season 2005-06 they won their first 8 games then the mighty Falkirk stopped their 100% winning start with a 2 - 2 draw and then Hearts then drew 1 - 1 with Celtic. So, played 10, won 8, drawn 2, and then Burley got his jotters.
  13. Stuff this, all I want to hear him pronounce is "we have been promoted via the play -offs"!
  14. Nah, in Sheerin's time their day off was a Saturday.
  15. I am so glad to see that most posters are now bracketing Holt and Sheerin together re: the damage that they have caused our club. A lot of posters initially thought that Sheerin was Holt's patsy or poodle but I don't think that was ever the case. They are equally culpable. A pox on both their houses.
