  1. Clyde definitely need a centre half, but I can't see it happening given we've signed three already this summer. Big Elsdon has looked fine in the couple of games he's played and Balatoni will probably be alright, but Page is still in a moonboot and Rumsby as much as I love him definitely doesn't have enough about him for League 1. For me, we desperately need another striker, because Rob Jones and Gregory Tade aren't boys you'd want if Goodwillie is injured. I also think it's glaringly obvious that we need a more attack-minded centre midfielder to link play. Splaine, Cuddihy Kennedy and Gomis aren't that type of player. Love looked ok in the 10 in pre-season but you maybe wouldn't rely on that, same with Cunningham. Goodwillie dropping in also doesn't work given the fact that it'd be Rob Jones up there. A lot of issues to be addressed really, you'd think with the fact that we have a salaried recruitment team these would be identified and tackled by the club, but the club is a pathetic shambles at the moment.
  2. Had it with this “recruitment department” pish btw
  3. Got to say, I was fairly impressed by big Elsdon. Nothing stupid, just done the basics really well. Hopefully that wasn’t a one off performance. It was mentioned in here that he’s only 5’11” which if true is wild, looks enormous!
  4. 100%. If we wanted a big striker to offer something different, the recruitment team should have identified Russell MacLean as the one. He's based in Falkirk and was available for transfer so you'd think a perfect situation to get him in, but he went to Peterhead. The reasons he went there wont ONLY be financial although that will have been a big part, but it's the recruitment teams job to actively recruit, and convince players like that that Clyde are a club worth joining. Danny still wanted to try the Plan B, and has signed Robert Jones because he's big and probably cheap instead of someone who could actually do the job. He's winged it and we've been stung. Russell MacLean scored four more goals last season that Robert Jones has scored in his entire professional career until he joined Clyde. Because of rubbish recruitment we've been left with a player who will be largely ineffective because Danny had a whim that he wanted to try something different. Admittedly as outlined above, he's done a few bits warranting a stay of execution but going by last night and the first half of the Dumbarton game the experiment is not paying off.
  5. Agreed. The starting line-up last night was garbage but our first choice 11 are far from being the worst Clyde team I've ever seen imho. On last night and this season in general, I'm loathe to blame Danny Lennon fully when we simply aren't aware of what's going on behind the scenes. As a fan owned club, every step of the recruitment process should be outlined to us by the salaried recruitment team. I get the feeling that Danny is putting on an extremely brave face at the moment and dishing out the 'great fans, great club' patter at every opportunity because it's the only way of appeasing us. HOWEVER, he is still in charge of what's happening on the park. Playing Goodwillie left wing was crazy, Ally Love as a defensive midfielder equally so. I can understand Goodwillie playing deeper as a 10 if we had someone more effective that Robert Jones up front. Last night we showed the cup and Broomhill a huge amount of disrespect by playing a team nowhere near good enough and we got what we deserved. I don't want Danny and Moorey to leave because I do really like them and their teams have given us some tremendous moments as fans but it really has gone stale, so maybe it is time for a change. With that in mind, I do not trust the current club set up to hire a manager at all so as it stands, I'd rather stick with what we've got.
  6. Had a wee look and he only played three league games, four years ago. I'm taking the ICT fans' opinions with a big grain of salt atm. Looks a big laddie, hopefully he can fling a couple of the Broomhill boys about tonight.
  7. Clyde have signed Matthew Elsdon on amateur terms. A 24 y/o centre half who made a few appearances in the Championship for ICT whilst on loan from Middlesbrough, he's pottered about English non-league since then.
  8. Yeah Bain fouled Sweeney, who scored the penalty to equalise. Sweeney turned into a bit of a talisman in a really, really poor Clyde team. When BF took over, he fairly quickly hounded out most of the boys who had been in Duffy's squads in an attempt to reshape the general attitude into a more professional one. He was whipped off at half time in that 8-1 defeat to Rangers in the cup and I think maybe only played once more after that (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). Went back to Pollok and spent a bit of time with the Candy later on.
  9. Was this the game where a young Stevie May scored? What a player he was in that team
  10. Good to see Howie is doing well. Not sure if he has full time ambitions but he could easily do a cracking job for the likes of QotS or Raith. I always thought he looked most comfortable playing as a centre mid given that he's a really decent footballer and possibly a bit lightweight to be playing centre half, although his game intelligence normally sees him through. Really thought we should have went all out to keep hold of him. Docherty I've always liked as a player and he seems like a great guy but he's so far off it it's unreal. He had one fairly decent game in pre-season (I can't remember who it was against, forgive me) but other than that he's really struggled. Played at left back mainly, with Danny inexplicably starting him over Adam Livingstone until it got absolutely unbearable to watch. I backed him and I'm gutted because there's nothing I like more than a boy coming in and getting it right up some of the naysayers in our support (Robert Jones, you're now my only hope) but unfortunately they've been proved right in this case.
  11. Did your contact say whether he was told this by a player or manager?
  12. Controversial, but I really like the Queens Park away top. It's absolutely mental obviously, but it's such a unique idea for a kit and chimes will with the ultra traditional home top. I'm all for an away kit to be experimental, especially when there's a really good idea or reasoning behind it. The East Fife tops are just the absolute worst that Joma has to offer, which is saying something. Also, maybe I'm going mental, but was the home kit voted for by the support?
  13. 1 - Airdrie Home 2 - Airdrie Away 3 - Airdrie 3rd = 4 - Clyde jerseys are both not bad 6 - Falkirk's sponsors look absolutely HORRENDOUS which is funny N/A - East Fife have the two worst kits seen in the SPFL for several years
  14. That's right, we're trying to get you lot into a negative mindset so that the players can tell you're a wee bit downbeat and therefore will not give the full 100% because they then feel a little bit rubbish. You've cracked our game of 4D chess. Congrats.
  15. To East Fife or are you here to tell us Clyde are signing Ross Dunlop?
  16. Every season we don't sign McKee I get a little bit more desperate for it to happen. I definitely agree with this. There's absolutely nothing between the bottom five but as pointed out, each team has their individual trump cards. East Fife look done on paper because of bad business but that might mean absolutely nothing if the likes of Denholm or Smith hit their stride. I was a bit down watching Dumbarton sign all those players this summer, but in comparison Clyde just have more unknown quantities. I've never seen Aaron Splaine or Paul Kennedy play a real game of competitive football but they looked fine in preseason, and probably look better options than Mark Lamont mk1 and mk2. Jonathan Page has been a bit out of sight out of mind for a few seasons but do I really think he's a worse defender than Gregor Buchanan? Nah. Adam Livingstone for my money doesn't look any worse than an aging Paddy Boyle. The bottom five is impossible to predict, and one of the top 5 might even have a shocker and end up down in the dregs with the plebians too.
  17. I honestly think that Charlie Miller is one of the worst players I’ve seen in a Clyde jersey. Specifically remember he tried a backheel right in front of the home stand and it just slowly crawled out the park, so maybe my memories are purely coloured by that.
  18. An absolutely fair point but I’m having Oliver as one of the worst because he signed for us twice, playing at a different end of the park each time, and was mince at both. So it’s like a 2-for-1.
  19. Over both spells. Rubbish as an attacker, rubbish as a defender.
  20. Best kits in the whole SPFL by a mile yet again
