  1. My point was not about what people are saying about Mr Robertson. More about the comments that are made in general by others that can also bring the game into disrepute. Just saying that people must be very careful what they put out on social media. And I still sat he should be away. Wee Alberts point about people in glass houses is very true.
  2. Very true Wee Albert. People will have had issues in the past and are probably quite enjoying this chance to have a go. Human nature I suppose. People in the game who are putting out tweets and retweeting comments that are in my opinion as bad as Mr Robertson's comment. He has said something wrong but people typing on here for instance can always edit before sending it out They say the comments are their own, retweets are not an endorsement etc but surely they must see that it's easy to bring their club and by extension the game into disrepute by their words. And the tweets don't dissappear!
  3. Absolutely correct that he should resign. Club officials should be above reproach and not be bringing the game into disrepute. Not just in what they say but in what they put on Twitter etc. There is no place for racism or sectarianism for that matter in football. I'm sure everybody would agree and hopefully that this incident will make others be wary of what they say or print.
  4. Rules are rules right enough. Common sense tho would see that no team gained an advantage from the lack of corner flags. Unless the lack of them influenced the result. Hope Harestanes do the right thing, take it on the chin and do what is right.
  5. I could see the Harestanes committee complaining about no corner flags ifor they had won the tie. Not.
  6. Doubt many corner flag poles would have stood up on grass parks yesterday never mind on the plastic parks. They would've been a waste of time.
  7. Bad committees maybe. Don't think you would get agreement that committees in general ruin football. A lot of good people giving up their time to help their club. As for players not being selected due to previous misbehaviour what would you expect to happen. You would expect players (and committee members) to at least behave when representing their clubs so same applies at national team level
  8. It was the Strathclyde Civil Service League. Teams were from National Savings Bank in Cowglen, local Social Security offices, Inland Revenue and other public bodies. 2 leagues and 2 cups plus a consolation cup. A good standard at the best teams and competetive. Lot of good players who also played Saturday afternoons. It's good that players have a choice regards when they want to play
  9. I played in the Civil Service league. Had some good sides back then. The breakaway to form the new league was a bit of a coup. I remember asking about the rumour of a new league just to be told not to worry because my team were not getting an invite! The standard of the CS League definitely dropped but the new league at the time was worse. Good to see it has picked up at last☺
  10. Why are you commenting on a Scottish Cup tie in a chat headed Scottish Cup 2019/20. You should know bettet☺
  11. Cap doffed. Forelock tugged etc etc. Hope you had money on it☺
  12. The lines were subject of a wee discussion last Thursday. Think the best solution is to get a pro in. No point in having a fantastic surface if David can't get the lines straight☺
  13. You will love it. Was there on Thursday watching Gartcosh v RGM. Parks was in great condition
  14. And also his heavy investment over the years paying for the strips etc. Mr Hugh? At least give the man his name
  15. I think you are right. Something to do with the goal at the bottom end of the park being a bog so made both 6 yard boxes the same. Park was not great nick then but is decent surface these days.
  16. Aye. It's great being old enough to remember Parkhead Juniors☺
  17. Parkhead Juniors park was in Lilybank. Bordered by Methven St, Cuthelton Street, Canmore Street and London Road (across from Celtic Club and Barrowfield training ground). Houses and Helenslea Centre built on it now. Helenvale Park was owned by Glasgow Corporation Transport. A great playing surface that Celtic did use for training for a while but mostly by youth teams after it was changed to astroturf. The red ash park on way up Springfield Road with floodlights was Riverside School.
  18. Good points on attitude and ability of some refs. Some of them are not great. Some players are not great either. We should remember that. I honestly think that some of the players resent a young guy telling them what to do. It cannot be easy for one young official to control 22 players and God knows how many on the sideline. Respect has to be earned but it is key.
  19. Was working in Darvel last week. The ground was looking great. Park in good nick too. Can see good times ahead for them.
