  1. As long as Doolan plus another striker like maybe Rudden on loan or someone like that on loan.
  2. The previous season we were in the championship our average attendance was only 1866 so there is evidence that fans are starting to come back it's how we now keep them coming those who have came back and encourage more new or lapsed fans that's the issue.
  3. Crowds did go up, but not to the level that Cameron wants or needs, the crowds nay have been better due to more away fans though
  4. I think part of the issue is the club do very little to publicize themselves, what do we get when the season is on a face book post or tweet with a match preview the guys from AU media do a fantastic but club could do so much more especially in the Social media age how hard would it be to do a quick catch up with McCall in midweek and post it on social media or a quick catch up with the mom from the previous game you don't need to spend lots of money on these things a half decent smart phone will do it will engage the fans more than a bog standard match preview, look at the way Motherwell for example use social media I'm not saying we should copy them and go to that expense but surely we can take inspiration from these kind of things.
  5. You just need to look at the high street to show your 100% correct Ayr is a dying town when I was a boy the town was heaving every weekend now it's a ghost town.
  6. Good I can't see how we would have lost it it's standard practice to get a developmental fee.
  7. According to this article Tiffoney was looking at loss of earnings of £20k a year if that was over a 2 to 3 year contract plus legal fees it will be a fair wack, don't know how the case was settled though https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/footballer-sues-club-over-his-dream-deal-nightmare/
  8. He did mention something to do with a court case most likely the Jonathan Tiffoney thing that wee fud probably cost us a small fortune.
  9. Anybody else thinking it's a bit strange that most clubs are going back pre season next week and Shankland hasn't got a club yet? I thought he'd have been signed up straight away.
  10. Two teams likely fighting for those 8th to 4th places a chance to get 3 points on the board early on.
  11. TBF I have said similar on here but after reading what the chairman said yesterday re other staff and and other expenses we don't think about it puts it more in perspective.
  12. Personally I don't think it's that bad but a lot of folk have hit panic button, hopefully 4 or 5 players in the next week or two, in McCall we trust.
  13. VAR is going to ruin football a striker doesn't get a chance to score the sitter he missed again a keeper doesn't get another chance to catch the ball he drops at someone's feet so why does the ref get a 2nd chance mistakes happen that's one of the reason we love football.
  14. Most likely team for Berwick if we don't sign any one Hare-Reid Ferguson Bell Roscoe Harvie Geggan Doc Murdoch Forrest McCowan Moff
  15. We have a few that have jobs outside football most being personal trainers but Bell has a job and big Jamie spend most of the time on his farm, as long as the player can commit to the football when required I see no problem.
  16. I don't know how I would feel if I was the Moff, Geggan, Bell, Kerr if I was getting told you need to cut wages as your getting older and will have less playing time when we are trying to bring in Doolan who was on the bench for a team fighting relegation until the last game of the season and is of a similar age to them and would likely come in as one of the top earners, would i welcome Doolan signing yes but I'd rather have some one younger with potential to kick on and maybe have sell on value.
  17. I really think McCall is using the media and the fans to put pressure on the board, if he seriously thought after last season he would be back to fighting for the players no one wants and fighting relegation again I think he would have ridden off into the sunset after Inverness, by that time he will have known what the budget for this season was and have targets in mind.
  18. Just seen the post McCall is not quoted saying has vastly reduced budget he's says we are competing with teams with bigger budgets, the person writing the article says it's reduced, don't know if the post is adding 2+2 and getting 5
  19. Maybe the new online/electronic ticketing has cost a lot more than you would think, any way as I said tonight with the chairman will be interesting as we all know Lachlan is no shrinking violet and will call bullshit if he hears it.
  20. I'm not not thinking we should be be flush and throwing money about but you would think we would have a similar budget to last season.
  21. The more I think of it the more this full reduced budget thing makes no sence. 1 when Shankland signed on last year no one could have imagined the start to the season he would have and only a few months later we would be rejecting bids of hundreds of thousands for him, if I'm not wrong was it not reported a bit like Dobbie one of the director's were funding his wages? So we don't have a black hole there from a potential transfer fee because we never anticipated one in the first place. 2 the £100,000 we apparently lost by being knocked out of the Scottish cup by Talbot how would anybody know what team we would have got in the cup at the start of the season we could have easily got a team in our league like Queens etc and been knocked out without it being sone big shock and let's be honest our Scottish cup record has not been great recently so why would we expect some great run. 3 The prize money we lost for losing out on 3rd the main aim at the start of the season was 8th surely we smashed the prize money that we assumed we would get anything above the £200,000 for 8th place was a bonus. 4 We didn't exactly go out and break the bank to try and get promoted Muirhead was our only permanent signing and I can't see us putting a lot of money to the wages of either Miller or Cadden. 5 according to Wikipedia our attendance went up by 35% last season that long with whatever TV money we got must have been a good deal more than what we got in league 1. So in conclusion either McCall is bluffing so agents/players aren't holding out for silly money or their is something very wrong behind the scenes
  22. Only 3 players that I think would move on for a fee Murdoch, Harvie or Forrest
  23. Weird thing is that McCall makes mention of budget being drastically cut in his interview with AU media last week has something changed in the last week or is the Ayrshire Post making a mountain out of a mole hill.
