That's a load of rubbish. Jordan Pickford and Shay Given are just over six feet tall.

The Chelsea ladies boss thinks the goals could be made smaller

Christ almighty. Funny as it is, they shouldn’t be fucking publishing that.

    There are physical diffences though

And other sports do account for that

I agree with this post but I also think it is extremely hypocritical. Players get slaughtered for being mercenaries who go elsewhere for big money with no chance of winning anything. I can understand why the three players mentioned might not be fussed with a move elsewhere. They are Celtic fans, they are earning 15/20k odds a week if not more, they are winning things which will give them something to look back on later, and they get the chance to play against better players and teams when they get their arses felt in the group stages of European competition.

Some folk might be motivated by earning more, or trying something outside their comfort zone, or seeing how far they can go, others are content with being incredibly jammy(Playing for the team you supported, earning a fortune, winning cups, fan adoration) and enjoying what they already have.

It would be hypocritical if I had slated people for being mercenaries

    Which I haven't

It's just that in similar leagues, Belgium etc, Holland even. The players almost always move on

Easy done! After responding initially I thought you might have been thinking of Scott Brown rather than McGregor.

There will be some fun mental gymnastics to be had explaining why its fine for them and their careers to stay at Celtic, but its not fine for David Turnbull to tell them to GTF.

Way back the players always used to leave

Then a Turnbull would come in to replace them, do a couple of years and he would leave etc etc

It would be nice if more Scottish players (especially the Celtic contingent) did move down south or abroad to test themselves rather than staying in their comfort zone.

That said, it’s hardly as easy a decision to make as some of the armchair pundits make it out to be. These guys are already on a very good wage, playing regularly, are settled and have friends, family and partners here. It isn’t always just a case of wanting to challenge your abilities as a footballer - there’s other stuff to take into consideration and I don’t think it’s really fair to make them all out to be shitebags for not moving abroad.

In every other league players seem to find it an easy decision

I would like to see him stay for the 10 in a row charge. He only turned 22 a couple of days ago so he will still be young enough then. After some more European football and intentional football too I think he could feasibly join a team that is a champions league regular. He’s already proven to be pretty rock solid at that level.

John Collins interview in paper today

Saying problem with Tierney is he always tries to play through niggling injuries cause he just loves playing

He certainly does that, for Celtic

    But not for Scotland

Having watched Argentina tonight I’m not that hopeful. They are a well organised and physical team. I think we will really struggle to break them down. At least they have to win to go through which might mean they come out a bit more. Got a bad feeling about it, but probably based on years of the men’s team finding new ways to not get out of the group.

I suppose the silver lining of Scottish teams' many incredible ways not to get out of a group (including the women 2 years ago) is that we have plenty of precedent. If we'd drawn today we'd have been on course for a 1998; instead it's looking a lot like a 1986.

    Ifs buts

Failure awaits, in new and interesting ways, as managed 2 years ago

Being over looked for an under 21 squad makes you Australian!!!

I'm telling you Harry Souttar is the one, we should be begging him to come back it's not too late yet and him and McKenna has a great look as  pairing.  Also having him and mctominay in the same team would make us a big threat at set pieces.

Also it's become apparent McKenna is shite

There should be a queue of strikers next season trying to out fox him by standing still

I've no idea if that's true or not.

We were pretty pish on Saturday, scraped a win, and while tonight we looked as organised as say....Alloa in the league cup against Celtic....we could easily have lost 5 or 6 goals.

I agree that Clarke deserves goodwill and time to get it right, but I'm not sure I see a great deal of improvement over the last 180 minutes.

You need an entire new generation of players who have been coached properly when they were growing up for improvement

    Yeah 3-0 about as expected.

Belgium played within themselves tonight but dealt with us without any problems. As we knew before the game, they’re just much better than us.

Hard to take much of anything from that. Fraser is quite good.

All comes down to that Russia game in Sep. Win or bust.

    And Russia away

    And Cyprus away

    And Kazakhstan at home

I don't care what people think of the standard, my post was aimed at folk using kickabouts (and links from the Daily Mail ffs) as a way of trying to justify the point. The USA game mentioned was literally just a kick about because they were using the same training facilities, remember seeing pictures from the boys afterwards and they were all sweating buckets while the women looked they'd only just turned up. The Australia game was taken so seriously subs were just coming and going with at least one of the players strutting about in a jumper, IIRC in any case it was mostly 2nd/3rd choice with it being preparation for the Olympics.

Anyone seriously using them as justification for criticism deserves to be laughed at.

Did you see the defending at the second goal today, about 5 chances to clear the lines

The Australian women's team was beaten 7-0 by an under-15 side 3 years ago.

As enjoyable as it was watching the game tonight, the standard genuinely reminded me of watching a decent level of U-16s game.

Eta: I see I was beaten to it as I was writing my post but mine is obviously better as it shows the boys were actually a year younger than Gordon EF stated 8)

Or not so decent a level of under 16s as the facts bare out

What would Barca under 16s do to them, 20-0
