Not sure they affected the tempo as much as Cyprus made it easier for us to attack them by pushing men forward. They'd sat in until into the second half, so when Christie and McTominay came on they had the space that Armstrong and Jack had to scrap for. Having said that any of that 4 would be fine for me in the starting lineup.

No. That's your opinion, not fact. I think Christie and Armstrong are pretty similar. Whoever is better at keeping possession will get the nod. Against Spain we need our most solid midfield. McTominay is probably in that ahead of Jack or Mcgregor.

If Adams is fit he'll start before Dykes. Christie v Armstrong is a toss up. They're very similar players. Not sure who'd be better to maintain possession as that'll be the key. McTominay should start but we'll be doing far more defending, so does he replace Jack or Mcgregor?

It's far easier to play forward when the opposition are throwing bodies up the park instead of sitting in and defending with every player. To think you can compare the two is just nonsense.

To be fair it would have been counterproductive bringing any of the youngsters into Gio's team as it wasn't performing and would have been bad for their development. Beale now also has to be seen to be chasing the league or the frothing halfwit bears will whine again. So I'm not expecting much in the way of youth opportunities until the league is arithmetically gone.
