  1. There's always roadworks on Byres Road so I predict that due to this Partick error Dunfermline don't make it to Maryhill in time for KO. We're awarded a 3-0 win but that is overturned by UEFA and we have to replay the tie in Monaco.
  2. Not often the leaders of the European and PGA tour events on a given week are from Finland (the country where I want to be...)
  3. If a cult hero is a player your own team loves and every opposition team hates then we have one just now, Mr Brian Graham. A 36-year old goal machine.
  4. Celtic fans booing and chanting Sack the Board after a draw with the 4th placed team in the league which leaves them in 1st place. Get a grip you entitled goons.
  5. Great stuff, I've heard McBeth is a brave and ambitious player, particularly when operating in the Cawdor/Inverness area.
  6. Yeah, would love to play it (and never will). Larry David is a member at Riviera (among many other famous Bel Air people). The Black Swan Curb ep about the Japanese owners was about Riviera. Sadly it was also the scene of Monty shooting 65 in the final round of the '95 USPA only to lose to Elkington in the playoff.
  7. Not sure about the whole team but the stick ons for me would be Cerny, Lindsay, Erskine, Bannigan, Doolan, and Graham. Probably Lawless and ATS too.
  8. Slazenger logo for the 2020s with quite an annoying name.
  9. Wrong thread for this discussion I realise but since you asked, I counted Euros and Copa Americas (the two continents with WC winners/finalists) - bearing in mind the latter has had 47 stagings to 16 Euros, has fewer countries, and started much earlier - so for comparison's sake maybe 3 CAs to a Euro win. Obviously if WC wins are heavily weighted then England's sole win puts them =7th with Spain (with 1 major win to Spain's 4). There is no comprehensive way to order this table but there is a clear Top 7 and I would argue that the Czechs have been a bigger force in world football than England. Yours, McGlashan Team WC wins WC RU Euro/CA wins (*eqv) Euro/CA RU Total Wins Total RU Finals (WC) Argentina 3 3 15 (*5) 14 17 (*8) 17 34 (6) Brazil 5 2 9 (*3) 11 14 (*8) 13 27 (7) Germany 4 4 3 3 7 7 14 (8) Uruguay 2 0 15 (*5) 6 17 (*7) 6 23 (2) Italy 4 2 2 2 6 4 10 (6) France 2 2 2 1 4 2 7 (4) Spain 1 0 3 1 4 1 5 (1) Holland 0 3 1 0 1 3 4 (3) USSR 0 0 1 3 1 3 4 Czech/o 0 2 1 1 1 3 4 (2) England 1 0 0 1 1 1 2 (1) Portugal 0 0 1 1 1 1 2 Note: Paraguay, Chile and Peru have all won 2 CAs with 6,4 and 1 losing finals respectively.
  10. Will Nick Mcpheat be banned from Ibrix for this? Come to think of it, who is Nick Mcpheat anyway? Sounds like an AI generated name for the churnalist of the article that set up this deeply fascinating result.
  11. Not only that, but it's well worth remembering that England with their sole major tournament win are tied with Denmark, Greece and Portugal on that number, behind fellow one-off winners the Netherlands, Czechia/oslovakia and the USSR in terms of finals reached, with those countries all having got to 4 against England's 2 (both at home). They are miles behind the "Big 7" of Brazil, W/Germany, Italy, Argentina, Uruguay, France and Spain, who have all won at least 4 and been to at least 5 finals. Germany are currently on 14 major finals and Italy on 10.
  12. I feel like the former happened almost every other week under Alan Archibald - but that was in the top tier for the most part.
  13. Can't claim to be a rugby expert - like a lot of folk I only watch the 6N and WC and never the club game. But yesterday reminded me why I am totally scunnered with this Scotland team, and rugby in general. From a Scotland perspective, this is the most talented pool we have had in a generation - and somehow under Townsend we have achieved precisely f8ck all other than a few enjoyable one off wins. We should have pasted the Welsh by 40 last week and we won by a point. We should have kicked the points at the end of the 1st half yesterday then inevitably didn't score, and played a dismal kicking game all 2nd half which didn't work. We got the absolute minimum out of these two matches. I don't think Russell is a good (co-) captain, because last week the players weren't listening to him and this week he turned down vital points and ran the kicking show for the 2nd half which got us nowhere. The TMO fiasco at the end was (obviously) scandalous - the ref saying out loud he would overturn based on what had been said, then the TMO suddenly rowing back and stopping him - WTAF? It was almost as much a kick in the baws as Joubert in 2015 and I can't remember anything in the 6N or WC rugby that has happened inbetween these two decisions which was more outrageous. This year we've been denied a win, momentum and hope for the rest of the 6N and last time we would've been in a winnable WC semi against the Argies. The referees in rugby union have far, far too much influence over the outcome of a match - last week against Wales we got ragged, but did we deserve 14 pens in a row? A lot of penalties are obscure to say the least (in that a lot of cases, if they weren't called barely anyone would notice) - and the whole tedious scrum process also looks utterly pointless these days; retained for reasons of history and the sport's identity more than anything else. Overall, utter pish both from Scotland's perspective and for the sport in general - and yes, I am still seething! /rantover
  14. Just caught the end of this. Great result for Morton. Cappielow looked great on telly. It'd look even better with the big crane lit up in the background. Kettlewell looks like de Gea going to a Halloween party as a half arsed Dracula.
  15. Bob's putting has always been hot and cold but this is something else. Completely losing it just when he moved to the States full time is brutal timing. Get Pete Cowen in for some lessons!
  16. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/68006183 Nick McPheat trying to be funny, explaining "tinpottery" and hastily throwing together some crowdwanking and stale tales - before us fans get to vote on the "Ten Biggest Clubs". Top quality licence-fee funded content!
  17. Yes, that's the only superlative he seems to know. "Kenny Mac" is a big, big irritation on the radio and a big, big waste of the license fee.
  18. Contradicting his recent comments when he was hinting he hadn't done his homework and if he'd known, he might not have taken the job - now the line is he knew how difficult things were at Ross County Football Club and isn't surprised. As ever, he delivers his "not my fault" message with that trademark smirk on his eminently slappable coupon. Brings back strong memories of Gary Caldwell's dismal time at Firhill when he was coming out with things like "I played for Scotland, I can't relate to these championship-level players".
  19. Wow. Someone at Ibrox pulled the plug on the Sportsound feed when that went in!
  20. Interestingly, the historic H*** were very successful for around a hundred years - especially against their Roman foes - but ultimately their power, prestige and civilisation (such as it was) collapsed and they sort of liquidated themselves, leaving very little trace (although some successors claimed continuity to give themselves legitimacy).
