  1. Libya has been airbrushed from history already. All the grandstanding interventionist p***ks act like it still isn't an ongoing disaster. We also hear very little about how a member of a UK backed terror group carried out the Manchester bombing.
  2. We illegally invaded Iraq and participate in torture and rendition. Rules shmules. I don't think the government are going to let a food shortage which would definitely bring them down happen just to abide by WTO rules that China and Trump piss on. Also they obviously don't check everything that comes in.
  3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-44915099 Noted humanitarians Israel evacuate jihadi logistic specialists from Syria.
  4. https://medium.com/mosquito-ridge/be-left-be-radical-be-zen-7ccdcdf2f1fd An interesting read from Paul Mason about dealing with the Labour right's inevitable attempts to prevent a change of government.
  5. The functioning ports we have already. If the government need to avoid an administration issue becoming societal chaos they can easily wave cargo through.
  6. There's not exactly a shortage of bananas despite the fact that they all come from outside Europe. The no planes and empty shelves scare stories are daft, it's not going to happen. Regardless of Brexit consumption has to become more sustainable anyway or we'll be growing our own bananas before the century is out.
  7. They still need to turn up and swear in to get a proxy. And proxy voting would presumably come with conditions eg maternity, bereavement, illness. Otherwise you would have arseholes using it so they can concentrate on their legal practice or attend a conference in Tahiti.
  8. Collective punishment for pensioners. Who doesn't hate their grandparents?
  9. Any examples of this? Her, Abramson and Garner are complete numpties.
  10. The EU make the rules and the EU can bend the rules.
  11. They aren't going to support anything May puts forward.
  12. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/jul/19/northern-ireland-close-recession-cbi-warns-may-visits-region About halfway down that story it says the EU will allow Ireland to waive physical checks in the event of No Deal.
  13. Tbf the USA government uses capital punishment and no one seems that bothered so Mensch's stance is the minority one in the USA (without even considering drones).
  14. No backstop, deal finished To be fair to May her point about Northern Ireland having no democractic input over trade policy (such as a revived TTIP) with the backstop is one that remainers haven't bothered to address. Neither of the main parties can blink on freedom of movement so unless the EU are willing to budge on that it'll be no deal.
  15. Vardkar has apparently said the EU will allow RoI not to carry out physical border checks in a no deal scenario. Pragmatism is starting to come into play as the deadline approaches.
  16. The point of Labour is to end austerity and build a society fit for the 21st century. I agree with your reasons but i'd place more emphasis on people in the North East feeling they don't share common cause with the Central Belt. Fishermen and farmers basically want an MP who they feel works for them and provides more quotas/subsidies. It's not possible to appeal to every constituency in Scotland but the SNP have to try. This causes them serious problems when creating policy and probably explains why they have expended so much political capital on crazy, doomed to fail, schemes like corroborration and named person.
  17. Dugdale didn't say that. Again no one wants to address the reasons for the SNP>Tory swing.
  18. Only in Holyrood and council elections. They can't do much more than promise to turn up at Westminster.
  19. The limitation is that if they don't go balls out on independence they have nothing to offer.
  20. I don't doubt she was being honest. However it does highlight the SNP's limitations. Why isn't the same true of Dugdale? She was being honest by admitting that Labour can't win in Banff, Shetland and Orkney or Berwickshire.
  21. We can argue about the level of publicity the comments had but it's still undeniable that they had no effect on the final results. And the constant harking to them is to cover for the fact that the SNP had no clear strategy and that the swing was SNP>Tory. As I said Sturgeon said that there would be a Tory majority live on one of the TV debates. Is that not a "minter"?
  22. Good old Phil 'The Misogynist' Davies. Sadly May clearly has the votes to survive any confidence vote by Tory MPs.
