  1. Original ban was to June (?). Whatever persuaded English authorities to allow training and friendlies a few weeks ago could have been put to Scotgov. But there was no will.
  2. As the saying goes......well, I wouldn't have started from here! But more to the point, what is the SPFL's solution? Hearts have tried. Not very well, you might say - but it was never Hearts job to find an equitable solution.
  3. Don't think my covid point was wrong as it turned out. Someone - who certainly knew their stuff - helpfully posted that the appropriate UK deaths number for comparison is 51K. So, Scotland's comparable £4.2k number is still worse per head of pop. (7.7% of UK's) . Just not as bad as I had thought.
  4. Because everything has been sacrificed on the altar of SKY's August contract and Celtic's Euro participation. And a handful of clubs have been lined up to take the financial hit
  5. It's obvious from the figures Budge and co never budgeted for a relegation scenario which is incredible. How were Hearts going to survive relegation had it been after 38 games in that instance. Going by the statements coming from Gorgie it appears you would have been heading for administration. Despite a hopeless 2nd half of 2018-19 (ending with a decent effort in the cup final) you are some forecaster if we were your favourites for relegation last summer when the budgets were done. Trust you lumped on big. The odds would have been good.
  6. Yes, Kelty's case is also complicated by the fact that Bonnyrigg were just behind them with a game in hand. But it still doesn't change the fact that it was not for the SPFL to unilaterally deny the contractual right of the HL/LL league play off winners the chance of a crack at Brechin for entry to L2. Except, of course, that Brechin had a vote on the SPFL board. Not fishy at all...
  7. Okay. So you are not arguing the sporting merit or fairness of relegation, or no play-offs after 30 games. What you are saying is some clubs would suffer financially if they had to play games. So to avoid that, a handful of other clubs like Falkirk, Partick and Hearts just had to be absolutely clobbered financially? You must see how that is at least open to challenge? And that's before you get into the propriety of how the board advised the clubs and how the vote was carried out.
  8. This is what I was saying - I would have still been unhappy, but a lot less unhappy if there had even been an attempt to play those games. I just can't see the logic and consistency to the decisions. They look like they were guided by Doncater (SKY 2020 and my bonus?) Celtic (clear the decks for 2020-21 CL start) and all aided and abetted by a fortuitous majority of board member clubs who would do quite well thank-you-very-much out of calling the leagues.
  9. 1. You have to assume the £8m is the estimated loss after taking account of curtailed income from a Premier campaign versus the very curtailed income from a 27 game Championship campaign. Otherwise it would indeed be an unfair amount. 2. Hibs and Aberdeen cutbacks? Is this a satirical post you've made? Whatever you choose to criticise AB for, she at least got on with needed cuts at Hearts 2 months ago - and was absolutely slaughtered for it. Were you posting defending her in April?
  10. Fair point in April. Did it change a few weeks ago with the Anderson monies? And what about Premier and Championship clubs - you saying they couldn't have found the money for a few play off games? Was this even given cursory consideration?
  11. WTF has any of that word jumble got to do with the petition she has lodged. You do know how a civil court case works ? Absolutely none of that is relevant. I'm happy to be educated. Fire away.
  12. The point is - they were at least playing the play offs. (Cheltenham btw, not Exeter). There's a desperation on P&B to scream loudly that playing some or all of the outstanding fixtures before starting the next season is now, and was in early April, "utterly impossible". Which is utterly untrue. But it's the crutch that holds up the self-interest clubs in denial and allows them to block out their consciences. Not Hibs btw, who are in that camp for fan giggles and because Ron doesn't understanding that soccer customers don't switch their preferred franchises.
  13. No you're wrong. The SPFL would be abusing it's dominant position in Scottish football. Right. definitely good night.
  14. Strictly speaking you're maybe right. But how different is no relegation/no promotion to null & void? As for saying AB should have done more - very droll. Right friends, I'm going to watch these English giants, Northampton and Exeter, who are miraculously managing to play some play offs mid June without the expertise of the SPFL.
  15. Hope none of you guys posting this sort of stuff are directors of clubs or the SPFL. From what I can see, anti-competitive offences can carry up to 5 year jail terms.
  16. Think you've got things upside down here. Budge is not the CH Ex of the SPFL. Budge is doing the petitioning. More relevant to his/her lordship will be what options did the board properly evaluate, before telling the clubs that there was only one solution - and the clubs had to vote yes (within 48 hours) to get £9m released. It will be interesting to find out how much work McLelland allowed on null and void, and how much exploration was given to maybe being able to play. I also hope any personal bonus Doncaster had riding on the 1st August SKY deal is brought into the open and questions asked as to whether it influenced his attitude.
  17. Which would have been wrong in 2 of the previous 3 seasons at 30 matches
  18. Why did they need to "rocket" up the league? Just pick up 4 or 5 points more than the teams down there. With games against them all - Ross County twice. St Mirren at home. As Hibs well know, easy to hit a late season collapse. Don't know the Partick specifics, but no doubt even easier to see a possible escape. This could be speculated to the end of time and is pointless - except to say that escape was entirely possible.
  19. Guff. Technically, the league season lasts 38 games. We managed to change that though.
  20. Did we moan when we went down with the 15 point admin penalty? Did we moan when we yo-yo’d in the late70’s and early 80’s? This is different.
