  1. Finished? Is it true that 2 times in the last 3 years the team at the bottom escaped?
  2. Yes, that is an important distinction. But their decision was based on trust that the board had provided them with all the correct and relevant info. Then there was Dundeegate
  3. Board made a decision. In a sloppy fashion, in the view of some. In a couple of weeks we could have been playing out the last 8 games, like down south. Rather than do that, a choice was made to the benefit of some and at the expense of others. Not surprisingly, that decision will need to have been irreproachable.
  4. You could be right. Nobody on here knows enough of the detail. But the Partick QCs' opinion is there to read. You can argue it's a strong csae or you can argue it's a weak case. What you can't argue is that it is no case at all. And there are things that have come out since - the sidelining of the Rangers alternative resolution. The French and Belgian Court cases. The unravelling of the "we couldn't get the money to the clubs any other way". The Sky/BT deals maybe not being as solid as claimed at the time. The Championship being curtailed. The fact that The SPFL did/do not have the power to unilaterally save Brechin and cancel promotion from HL/LL. Ask yourself this. If Doncaster was sure of his ground, why would he be even trying to get a 14-10-10-10 reconstruction considered?
  5. tbf if you find your economics lessons boring, then you probably shouldn't post razor sharp insights like "turnover isn't profit".
  6. Decent effort young Greenday. Now consider - 1. What proportion of hospitality comes from games against OF, Hibs ,Aberdeen? 2. What are the fixed costs (depreciation of F&F, Leases of equipment etc) 3. Redundancy costs if downsizing staff. Wage rates of those kept on unchanged. 4. Higher costs per unit for smaller bulk purchases. 5. Reasonable assumption for number of years down. 2? 6 Of course, Insurance, security, rates stay the same. Heating, Lighting not much lower Have another wee re-read of your Int 4 Economics text book and bring it back on Monday. Good lad.
  7. When nearly all costs are fixed for a year or two into the future, then a top line reduction impacts profit (or more realistically loss) on a pound for pound basis. But, go on. Do tell me how it works in Leith.
  8. I, for one, am outraged. £6m won't nearly cover it. Normal turnover £16m. That's going to take at least a 25% hit in the Championship. But it's only a 27 game Championship. So £7m hit in year 1. And the average time in it for "big" teams (like Rangers, Hibs Dundee Utd) is 3 years. So well over £10m for us. Say £15m. Then add Partick, Falkirk, Stranraer, Brora and Kelty. £20m+ total, easy. Get one of those ambulance chasing lawyers on to the case. Stop being so reasonable Mrs B.
  9. Sometimes folk miscalculate or paint themselves into a corner. Otherwise, how do you think anything ever gets to court, Ric?
  10. You might be right. Have I blended two different phrases? 1. Joey fcked it up. 2. Joey is a fck up. Hmm. I'll sleep on it.
  11. Personally, I wouldn't have spoken about it to anybody other than McLennan/Doncaster and I would have triggered it weeks ago. I think AB is way too trusting* - which as a human being is a great thing , but as a Chairwoman swimming with sharks, is a weakness. *e.g. trusting her brother with the stand, trusting Levein could turn things round, trusting how other clubs said they would vote, trusting that the recon panel was serious. And now trusting that Doncaster will get recon?
  12. Actually, that solution is every bit as logical and fair as the "call it as it stands" solution that the SPFL board pushed. And I do hope it is one of the remedies that Hearts go for in any court case. Might focus some club's minds on a "do minimal harm" solution, warts and all.
  13. Always embarrassing when you have a pop at somebody's English, only to fck up yourself, eh Joey?
  14. Johnny was having a laugh at the maroon pound nonsense. Had a quick look at Dundee's last reported accounts and thought sheesh, they certainly are in need of somebody's pound. If the ground is in the hands of somebody local with the club's interests at heart, then that's good.
  15. What's your email address Johnny? We'll ask Ann to send you over the Hearts QC opinion.
  16. Had a look at those DFC accounts yet Johnny? Who owns the ground btw? Still, if the worst comes to the worst, you can always share with United. Lochee United.
  17. Heeeyyyy. Joey! First Wiggy. Then Cormack. Now you. Is there a correlation between being a loon and sleekit behaviour?
  18. It's fair to say, Stanislav, that unlike your good self, when Doncaster was faced with a a sudden huge threat he panicked and pressed the nuclear button, rather than think it through with a cool, calm head.
  19. So, by that logic You would reward the team below just as much as the team above it? You would happily award the Premier league title jointly to Celtic and Rangers? The Championship jointly to Dundee Utd and Inverness? Yes, there is an inherent contradiction with that logic and with the Hearts position. To be fully consistent, maybe Hearts should be arguing for null and void. But anyhow, there is a practical difference between not rewarding a team (not promoting) and actually punishing a team (relegating).
  20. Tell you what, though - the SPFL board don't think they've got too strong a case or they wouldn't be fannying about with yet another proposal, would they? Unless they are just stringing AB along - which should piss her off sufficiently to ensure we are off to court. And if the SPFL really are belatedly trying to minimise the harm, but are thwarted by a quarter of the members, then again, AB should feel comfortable taking it to court.
