  1. Really good all-round team performance today. First half we could possibly have been clear had Webby's goal not been chalked off, as we were on top at HT. Second half we sat back and allowed Stranraer on, and again zonal marking at corners cost us. However, there was something about our play today, a gritty togetherness that made me think we'd get a winner. Some not quite hitting their recent heights, but others stepping up which was pleasing to see. Encouraging performance on the whole, and if we keep beating the teams below us we'll do well [emoji106]
  2. I'll just sit here refreshing, waiting for the seethe to begin. Well done Montrose. Nice to see a settled starting line up for once resulting in maximum points and our first league clean sheet too.
  3. Excellent first 45, with great strikes from Webby and Watson in particular; big deflection for Peterhead's first. Sadly all-too-familiar shaky start to second half conceeding two quick goals. Webby's second was another lovely strike and when through 1 on 1 with his easiest chance of the day, he could have had a hat trick. Overall, a much much better performance, although zonal marking at corners left us looking vulnerable at times. Webby well worth his MotM, and Lyons must have pushed him very close: some awful challenges on him today and according to today's ref team it's seemingly ok to hold shirts for 90 minutes and not get booked. Crazy game and could easily have been 6-6, but delighted with the effort, performance and 3 points.
  4. Disappointing afternoon in all honesty, and a more clinical side would have completely swept us away second half. Can't be bothered writing loads and loads, so wonder what people's opinions are on: - Terry's red (wasn't watching when it happened) - Yano's "defending" for their first - EF number 3 not getting a second yellow for pulling back Lyons - Denholm's shot off the post from 2 yards - Our apparent lack of a plan B when things are going against us, and how we go about turning the hard work of the majority of the team in to actual points on the board. This is going to be a long season and a league win is desperately needed. Credit where it's due: we finished above East Fife last season but after SIX games they are THIRTEEN points ahead of us.
  5. 28th April 2018? Thanks to Jamie Redman's second half goal.
  6. Second half we could easily have tired but had good chunks of pressure; a couple of Milne free kicks coming close; hard to tell that we were 10 against 11; deserved a draw. We certainly had a good go of it and with 11 I think we'd have got a point which I felt we deserved on the performance. Felt Dickinson was always going to make an incorrect and influential decision for one side in the game after bafflingly ignoring some pretty obvious shoves and fouls first half. Fleming with a great reaction save first half before the penalty and then the awful penalty miss - we could have got a bit of a pasting had they gone in and heads gone down. But certainly no shame in our performance today. Tricky run of games continue, so important to keep up the intensity and level of performance.
  7. Pretty sure Cammy got sent off for Dumbarton against Arbroath final game of last season, so will have to sit first league game out.
  8. Fwiw, I was in line with Lennox's goal line when he fumbled and the ball was a good foot over the line. Amazed it wasn't given by the linesman. Best of luck this season in L2.
  9. As a fan living in Aberdeen, it's my closest possible game, so am similarly looking forward to this afternoon. Balmoral Stadium on a day like today will match Gayfield for levels of windyness and getting out of the industrial estate car park can be a joke if busy, but looking forward to seeing some of the new/returning boys get a run out this afternoon.
  10. Have work commitments in Aberdeen this morning so can't make the Dumfries trip but will be refreshing twitter all afternoon most likely from Cove game. An excellent season might end this afternoon or it may continue for another 2 games - either way, on and off the park they've done a fantastic job and hope all going down have a great day!
  11. Padge and Masson were outstanding this evening, and unlucky not to get a 3-1 lead. QotS had chances both halves so under no illusion it's going to be easy second half.
  12. Have a look at the Arbroath facebook page - they've uploaded a video of Cammy's red card on Saturday. Maybe SP doesn't need to bring in a second keeper over the summer after all!
  13. I remember the February away win at Berwick (who were at the time top?) and was our first league win of the season. I'd been at a Dundee - County game and pretty sure I remember hearing you on Off the Ball on the drive home sounding very happy!
  14. I honestly don't think we can place much weight on some of the MOTM Awards. They are regularly picked by sponsors who have close links with the club or specific players. It is a very welcome source of income for the club, but often their pick can be way off. Looking forward to this evenings game. Always good to get in a midweek match and hoping recent good results (not necessarily performances) continue.
  15. We surely would have looked at the run of the last 3 league games as a chance to open up a gap between us and the relegation spots. However, that's 5 dropped points against the bottom 3 in the last 3. Important 2 weeks now with Forfar and Raith to play.
  16. Not a vintage performance tonight, felt a bit pre-season friendly first half. Cavanagh and Foxy in particular impressed for me, Cavanagh for his legs all over the park and Foxy for his solid distribution all night long. Mackenzie saving well from Skelly, Callaghan and then Foxy from almost the halfway line. Good to get a few players pitch time, although I don't see Fergie and Callaghan starting many games as wing back combo (both did alright though).
  17. Our last Hearts loanee was far from ideal! Looking forward to seeing what Henderson can do for us. Hearts' Callumn Morrison had a great initial loan period with Stirling last year, so here's hoping for similar with Henderson for us. Sent from my HTC One A9s using Tapatalk
  18. Yeah it will be a competitive midfield for sure, which can only be a good thing. But let's keep midfielders in midfield this season! Terry's best place is here so hope we don't drop him to RB just to keep him in the starting line up. Similarly, hope we don't drop Watson to CB like we did a couple of times last season: a few hairy moments last year when we did!
  19. Yep, have also switched my BBC tabs from L2 to L1. It's the little things but feels great. Have heard various rumblings about the squad but look forward to official announcements on arrivals / departures.
  20. Which we all know, based on some of the twisted "logic" of those behind this whole idea, means the following? L2 youth teams in Premiership > L2 colt players in Premiership pumped 20-0 for half a season > L2 youths will be placed back in their first teams > L2 youths now brimming with confidence after weekly pastings to play the Colts in L2 > Premiership Colts now face better opposition > World Cup triumph we've all been craving. Shows just how stupid the actual proposal is.
  21. If I was a Peterhead fan I'd be incredibly proud of my manager having read his quotes there in the Evening Express. The (slight) cynic in me thinks it would be very easy for a manager to give a resounding two fingers up to the whole idea and the ethos surrounding it when you're odds on favourites to get promoted out of L2 anyway. But joking aside, it's reassuring to read such a positive report. Still had no reply from Montrose.
