  1. 4231 is not a fancy formation. It is a formation that is used at every level of football, including boys clubs. Very few teams will use a basic 442 anymore because it is out dated and far to easy to play against.
  2. When has Nesbitt played up front before? Whenever we have went two up front, we’ve been chasing a game, which usually means the opposition will sit deeper to protect the lead so of course we’ll get more shots off. You’ve missed my point. Pushing Telfer into a crowded area isn’t going to give an extra person to aim for in the box. The problem is we’re trying to cross into a box filled with players where we need to be cutting teams open.
  3. I’ll give you the 352 could work better. I was aiming my comment at people who were saying we only need 1 defensive midfielder and Telfer should sit further forward
  4. But again you’re pushing another player forward into an already crowded area
  5. The general consensus appears to be that if we push more players forward, then we’ll get goals but please explain to me how that will work. I wasn’t at the game yesterday, but from what I hear, Dumbarton stifled us and got 10 men behind the ball every chance they had. Clyde did exactly the same, hence why we didn’t score till the 70th minute, so why would pushing Telfer forward into an already over crowded area be beneficial?
  6. I don’t agree about putting him upfront as it’s not his position. I’m also not quite sure how a 4411 would end up being any different to how we’re setting up just now. A 352 could work but as someone has said, we’ll lose any opportunity to play McDaid and you’ll still end up playing with at least one defensive midfielder. I’d be more inclined to try the 352 if we’re going for a new formation. The reason Telfer is sitting deeper is so he can dictate play. Having him sitting up with the other midfielders surrounded means he’ll have very little impact. What we do need to do is find a way to get him in the position further forward to play that killer pass or score a goal
  7. As much as we don’t like it, he’ll be entitled to a day off and as we play a Saturday, I’m assuming he can do what he wants on a Sunday
  8. I’m not sure I agree with the “we need to play 2 upfront” shouts. Playing a 442 won’t suit us as I think we’ll lose Nesbitt’s influence in the number 10 roll.
  9. Due to teams taking points off each other in the league, this is definitely recoverable for us. I’m not confident we can do it though, which is the really concerning part
  10. McKay hasn’t played in any of the other league games we lost
  11. It’s funny how Dumbarton have probably just as many new players as us but are joint top
  12. Partick were very poor for a large portion of last season but managed to click in the last third to win the league. They did, however, have players like Graham and Rudden that you knew would come good for them. We don’t have that and I can’t see it improving unless we bring in more reinforcements, which I think is impossible
  13. McCracken was on a podcast lately and he was talking about his time as manager. He made a comment that there was something going on behind the scenes that was out with his and Millers control, however, he couldn’t go into too much detail or he’d get in trouble. Now I took this with a pinch of salt at the time, as M&M were shite, but I have to admit I’m wondering if this was Holt. Why is it every manager we appoint ends up failing. We are a basket case of a club.
  14. If the squad isn’t good enough to win this league then it’s pure and simple that Holt hasn’t done his job and should get to f**k
  15. Clearly Sheerin wants to give Ruth a run of games up top, hence why he’s starting ahead of Keena. I can only assume he is starting Ompreon out wide since McDaid has just arrived. Do not agree with the decisions but I can at least understand him not starting McDaid
  16. You should never start a game knowing you’ll have to change a right back. It’s a complete waste of a sub that you may need to use to affect the game. Starting Williamson on the bench is 100% the correct move
  17. I seriously hope Keena is carrying a knock, otherwise he should be starting and bring Ruth on for him later in the match to get him minutes
  18. I would suspect McCall would have already been offered him, he’s shown interest before and I’m sure Dundee would rather he was playing Championship football instead of league 1
  19. Where did you hear that from? From the interview, I got the impression that he will be doing some rehab work and going from there. Remember anything more than a few weeks is long term in football
  20. Have a word with yourself ffs! You must overthink every little thing that happens in your life.
  21. You can’t just put that down to going two up front. I wasn’t at the game, but I can guarantee Alloa started sitting a bit deeper to protect the lead, which would have lead to us getting chances
  22. You’re not actually being serious are you? It’s extremely possible that as a collective it was a bad day at the office, which easily happens to the best teams in the world. Talk of Sheerin possibly losing the dressing room because of one poor performance is absolutely mental and sums up some of the clowns that we have in our support
  23. Shouldn’t compare last season anyway. We were shite but the rest of the teams were howling at this stage last season
  24. I don’t think you realise that the way that team is written down is not how it would play out in a normal game. You would end up playing a 4231 with that formation, as one of Telfer or Nesbitt would need to play deeper effectively making it a 4231
  25. I didn’t say anything about how good we are but I highlighted the fact that your comment about fight and desire wasn’t true. We have lost two games against teams I would call rivals, so we need to get better and that’s for Sheerin and ultimately Holt to sort out
