  1. Just watch another interview, post Annan, where he says, “the days where teams come to the capital and take points off us are gone, Dave”. They got trounced the next game at home 1-5. He’s definitely going to be worth a watch every week (though I have a sneaky he might just get them up the table, if the players are on board with his methods).
  2. No made up rivalry for me, just another 3 points will do for me!
  3. It could be to do with both sets of fans having an understanding, even empathy, at having to endure some amount of dross over a number of years.
  4. It’s called negative bias, which is generally a human trait. I think when it comes to being positive about a team/player/manager it’s perhaps more a case of being concise and to the point (What a game Morrison had to today or Spencer, cracking player, and that covers it) whereas picking the bones out of being negative tends to be much more nuanced and prolonged, especially to the depths we went too, and length of time. I reckon if we had a lengthy period of success, on and off the pitch, the number of posts on “The Falkirk Thread” would reduce a fair bit.
  5. Given the number of fixtures yesterday, this isn’t a big deal. To be honest,, that Raith crowd of near 7000 is much more impressive.
  6. The period after the window was patchy (something like 2 wins, 2 draws out of 8), the run-we recovered but fell a little short.
  7. I just checked, we actually beat them 3 times and drew once that season. They also lost a quarter of their games that season but finished on 69 pts, Hamilton 67 and us 66. We just need to do whatever it takes to outpoint Hamilton this season (though I’m not dismissing other clubs as potential challengers).
  8. Absolutely. If this was our first season down here and we were going toe-to-toe with Hamilton and got pipped at the end (and didn’t get through the play-offs), there would be a degree of goodwill. Not this season though, glorious failures are banned!
  9. He should’ve changed things immediately after going 2-0 down (though 3-0 came very quickly). We absolutely had to get to half-time no worse than that scoreline just to regroup, to give ourselves something to cling onto. He was really fortunate to survive that and I feel it was only having to start again is what saved him.
  10. Most of us have probably moved on but I see Max K is getting his game in a struggling St Johnstone team. Looking at the ratings on BBC he’s finding it hard going but was a stand out in the Dundee game.
  11. I personally would still review things with him at the end of the season, promotion or not. He’s getting it right just now and fair play but, like I said at the time, part of me when it comes to him, will never really get over that first half performance and also how he didn’t change it after going 2-0 down. It exposed a real flaw in his management, borderline dereliction of duty. Like I say though, things are going well just now and it’s great to see.
  12. Thing is, what is mid table in such small leagues? That gets you on the fringes of a play-off spot and look at Queens Park!
  13. I’m sure it would naturally but you saying that makes me want to continue it…..just….that…..bit….longer….
  14. Bit of a yo-yo team in the two league structure in the 50s and 60s so not completely without merit but ever since the three or four leagues there’s really been nothing from them. It’s a bit strange that a town the size of Stirling hasn’t fared a bit better over the years/decades (even just a small purple patch but….nothing other than the odd foray out of the seaside leagues).
  15. Okay, last word from me on this before anymore digs. Pleased with the performance but overall, job done.
  16. So do I, still under the category of routine win. Especially with this squad anyway. Granted, two or three years ago that was not the case.
  17. Very low bar if you ask me. So happy vying for a play off spot this season then?
  18. No. A home game against a part-time with an aim to win the league is a must-win (with the caveat of the odd ‘bad day at the office’ I mentioned earlier). What would you call the feeling of a home win against Stirling Albion?
  19. Dundee Utd 6-0 would surely have a great 45 in there.
  20. I only say ‘standard victories’ to match the expectation of this season from everyone connected with the club.
  21. I don’t like this phrase normally but - it was all about us last night. We were too good for them last night and didn’t allow them to get in the game.
  22. I wouldn’t say “surprise” is the word but some fans appear to revel a bit too much in what should be standard victories. What is a surprise is getting the business done early on.
  23. Correct. These are bread and butter wins in terms of expectations this season. If anything, the very odd “bad day at the office” against a lower team and winning our crunch six pointers is what really matters.
