  1. It does perhaps only draw a small audience on P&B@Jacksgranda, but your regular updates and reviews on the NIFL (domestic and European competition) are always much appreciated. Hopefully another competitive season to look forward to. Cheers.
  2. Watched the game over in Carrickfergus this evening, with very much a neutral audience, so no sway either way. It wasn’t a classic with both sides evenly matched. Shame it had to go to penalties but well done Italy. Will welcome the newly crowed European Champions to Windsor Park in November.
  3. Agreed, I think they have exceeded the expectations of most, but the anticipation of ‘football coming home’ is now at a level, where defeat on Sunday is almost unthinkable. That’s certainly how it seems looking in, given the wall to wall, round the clock build up. I’ve no axe to grind with the England side (apart from the theatrics[emoji849]), but the mega-hype is going to absolutely crush your support should you lose. The pressure on the players must be incredible too, far beyond Italia 90 or Euro 96. I’ve got so many result/score predictions wrong this tournament, if I go Italy 2-0, I might just be doing you a favour. Good luck anyway fwiw, it’s a media blackout for me now, right up to kick off.
  4. Honestly believe this will continue on Sunday, it’s going to be a such a massive ‘come down’ for the England faithful if it does. Don’t think we’ve ever seen such levels of hysteria. The mourning after Wembley 96 will pale into insignificance.
  5. Just caught up on AVFTE Part 1, after recording the first two episodes. Great programme but perhaps an uncomfortable watch in parts, looking back on some of the pre-tournament comments and enthusiastic predictions. Pat Nevin’s assertion that John McGinn versus an ageing Modric was a no-contest in midfield being one the stand outs. eek.
  6. 140,000 capacity crowd to be allowed to attend the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on July 18th. Perhaps the bikes might get a review and reprieve?
  7. Only a 4000 ticket capacity for the wide open spaces of Donnington Park (WSB 2-4 Jul), yet 22,500 fans can be allowed into Wembley? Seems grossly unfair.
  8. Would be a popular win, if McGinley hasn’t just jinxed him.
  9. Rory 3 putting from there!! eek
  10. Perhaps he just needed a decent run in the side? [emoji848] He’s been in the starting line up for most of the season at Inver Park. Not sure what his injury record is like but seems he’s struggled to command a regular place at his previous clubs including the Glens.
  11. Quite enjoyed that, Larne comfortably running out 3-1 winners. McDaid a deserved MotM. I know they’ve had some money thrown at them but think they’ve deserved something else out of this season (in addition to the Antrim Shield) from what they have contributed in the league and cup competitions. Quite something to see Larne competing in Europe next season. Pleased for them.
  12. Gracious indeed! If Cliftonville go on to beat Larne on Saturday they'll net a minimum of *250,000 (euros) competing in the UEFA ECL! eek. (*according to the Belfast Telegraph)
  13. Don’t exactly need a hi-tech VAR System to call that one correctly eh!? [emoji849] Imagine losing 5-4 on that decision too![emoji15]
  14. More controversy from the Penalty spot tonight for Crusaders, in their Euro playoff game with Cliftonville. It looked clearly over the line in the replay!
  15. Any chance that the EPL will review the use and application of VAR technology over the summer? It’s hardly enhanced the already over hyped experience of watching ‘the best league in the world’ has it? [emoji848]
  16. An interesting closed season to develop at Windsor with the Blues going full time. Probably have to replace Andy Waterworth, Mark Haughey & maybe Jamie Mulgrew whilst young Shayne Lavery looks for a move over to England. Know that Haughey has been out for some time until his recent return, but that’s still quite a bit of business to do; to adequately cover the others, and before anyone else considers their livelihood outside the game and the length of contracts on offer? [emoji848]
  17. West Auckland Town FC won the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy (Lipton’s Tea Foundation) in 1909 in Turin, the first organised European football tournament with teams representing Italy, Germany, Switzerland and England. Today’s population of West Auckland stands at a little over 8,500. Given that Lipton a keen sportsman, was from Glasgow it’s puzzling that a Scottish club wasn’t invited to compete? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Thomas_Lipton_Trophy#:~:text=The%20Sir%20Thomas%20Lipton%20Trophy%20was%20an%20association,Championship%2C%20which%20took%20place%20between%201887%20and%201902.
  18. Well in Villarreal! [emoji122][emoji633]
  19. Congrats to David Healy and his side. They’ve deserved it overall for me. Hopefully a good battle to look forward to next year. With an improved Glens side, Larne staying the pace and Coleraine having another crack at it. Some game at Taylors Ave tonight btw. Carrick 2 - 0 in front against Glenavon and end up losing 3-6! [emoji15] Was looking so promising too for Scott Irvine to stake a claim for the full time gig. Still puzzled at Currie’s departure though!?
  20. Shame the Koepka couldn’t keep with him after such a fascinating see-saw start to the final round, but an amazing and deserved win for Mickleson. Great to follow over the four days, but as mentioned by others, definitely not missed the US crowds over lockdown. Get that inane whooping and hollering on every single Tee in the f*cking bin!
  21. Absolutely fascinating stuff this, great to watch, seems there’s a drama to enjoy on every hole!
  22. Yep strange that the IFA decided to move it to the Friday night, not quite sure why, irrespective of the League programme this Tuesday?[emoji848]
  23. Incredible achievement, congratulations St Johnstone. Pretty much controlled the game throughout. Hugely disappointing for Hibs, to get to all the way to the final then not really show up for it. The Saints defence could never have expected such a pipe and slippers game this afternoon.
  24. Enjoyed the final from Lurgan tonight, Larne had a real go at the start of the second half but the result never seemed in doubt, despite a late consolation. A huge lift for Linfield as they try to seal the double on Tuesday night. Young Joel Cooper deserved MOM for me tonight.
