Does anyone remember a truly appalling band from the mid-80s attempting heavy rock called Glasgow? Absolute dugmeat.

Fairly sure I saw them play the Burns Bar in Falkirk. Bringing them back for a second gig was a bit optimistic. I don't remember them being total rubbish but the Burns Bar wasn't the right venue for heavy rock - too wee, low ceiling. I didn't return for the second gig. Actually just called a friend - agrees they were rubbish. Rab Noakes played a blinder of a set there.

  2. Albuquerque City Council have once again had to deny rumours that they are putting up statues of the characters Walter White and Jesse Pinkman of Breaking Bad. The Mayor said Albuquerque residents are more than happy with the life-size bronze sculptures of Wile E Coyote and The Roadrunner. He did however acknowledge that talks are at an advanced stage to commemorate Paddy McAloon for raising the profile of the City by mentioning it in his popular song, King of Rock & Roll.

  3. So much for the party of international solidarity. Now no different from the insular Tory party hell-bent on dragging us back to their idea of some Golden Age (that never existed). Labour will be remembered as a party of abstention clinging on to the coat-tails of a dying empire, hand in hand with the Tories.  If remembered at all.

  4. For Northern Soul tune in to Solar Radio (Sky 0129) on Sundays 8-10pm for Eddy Edmonson's " A Taste of Soul". Great sounds from classic Northern Soul tunes from 70s up to now. Excellent stuff.

  5. Really good team effort today. Wasn't sure about Eckersley in first half but excellent in second. Jamie Bain turned in a great shift. Defence were organised and shut down Arbroath although worried by the number of shots they managed. Still, McCallum had a couple of great saves. Not sure about his tactic of trying to find Tutties with his kick oots though.

  6. Chris Law, the SNP MP,  actually wanted to be a lawyer when he was younger. However, being very tall it wasn't long before a career in basketball beckoned. He was offered a trial with top US basketball team the New York Knicks but a fear of flying put paid to that dream.
