  1. Very big game for Elgin. After a strong start if we were to lose this game that totally spoils that. Will be very tough but if we can somehow nick it and get some players back fit we will be in a strong position.
  2. We are badly needing a couple of the injured players back, especially Soapy. We are missing his drive from midfield. Also the partnership he has with Shane is very good. Think Stenny will be well up there this season competing for the play offs as I hope we will be aswell. Could be very tight up there with mabye Cove running away with the title.
  3. Well deserved 3 points for Stenny today. We were very poor in all aspects of the game. Not a single shot on target tells it's own story. We looked tired and although there wasn't much time the ball was played on the deck at all, any time it was it was Stenny attempting to play a bit. No complaints about the result at all.
  4. Could be an interesting game. I would say 2-1 Elgin win but I don't say that with a huge amount of confidence. Would be great to continue our good start to the season. Stenny are usually a very tough game for us though.
  5. Another goalfest last night at Brechin. We are conceding a lot of goals but what about that Kane and Shane partnership? 15 goals between them in 9 games. Long may that continue[emoji834][emoji833][emoji834][emoji833]
  6. Hibs Colts 3-4 Elgin City from Easter Road. Another great result for the boys with an injury time Cooper winner.
  7. Aye that is very true. We have a cracking support it's just annoying listening to that fools week in week out.
  8. It's ridiculous. They are starting to get shouted down more often now which is good. Hopefully if the team continue to do well they will be totally silenced because the last thing the players need is that constantly in their ears. The clown that continually singled out Bronsky yesterday when it was totally quiet was especially annoying. Another cracker was "We obviously don't work on anything in training this is absolutely pathetic Elgin" with 2 minutes to go when we have comfortably won our 1st game of the season in lovely weather. I looked over at the final whistle and the boy that shouted that nonsense didn't even clap. Makes me wonder if they prefer it when we are hopeless so they can gurn and moan.
  9. Really happy with the game today to start the season. Some cracking stuff played at times against a team who tried to bully us off the park. Very encouraging signs, we are scoring a lot of goals and Russell Dingwall looks to be an outstanding signing. Also impressing me greatly is Rory McEwan who was excellent. Still the usual negative shouts in the enclosure from the old codgers who still think they are watching football in the 1950s. Embarrassing shouting at players, that is absolutely shocking Elgin when they are leading 3-0 with 5 minutes to go and the only crime is passing a ball backwards 5 yards to keep possession. Drives me mad.
  10. Looking forward to the game. Quietly confident but as said above we could well lose 3-0. You just never know with Elgin.
  11. That being the case why even bother entering the tournament? I don't see a single benefit of it.
  12. I totally agree. The only way Elgin are going to get anything out of this competition is to play mabye 5 young lads and the rest north based senior players. Nobody gets anything out if losing like that. Infact if anything it will give the boys doubts in their heads of they can make Highland league level, let alone league 2 level. All north teams that meet Elgin in that competition are desperate to embarrass us. To them it won't matter it's a youth team all they see is Forres 11 - 2 Elgin. The last 3 years we have had a 4 - 0 defeat to Fort William, an 8 - 0 defeat to Nairn and that one last night. Surely there needs to be a rethink in strategy.
  13. Beaten 11-2 tonight by Forres Mechanics in the North of Scotland Cup. Under 20s or not that is an embarrassing result. Very very poor
  14. I totally agree. I wasn't that happy when I heard he was coming back. But his attitude has been spot on so far. And when that is right his ability is there for all to see. As said above I think he will only be 3rd choice captain when Darryl and Soapy are back. Gavin Price said when McGovern left he was keen to always have a local based player as captain from now on, so that is possibly part of the reason for Shane being the captain for these games. Really looking forward to Saturday. Hope we can get off to a flyer.
  15. I'm not 100% sure how it works but I seen it reported that each team who appear on the TV in these group stages will receive roughly £14,000.
  16. Was down picking up tickets for tomorrow night's game last night. They were saying there was 2000 odd tickets sold at that point and they were out the door dealing with requests still. If we get anywhere near to 3000 in there and with the reported £14k for the game being on BT Sport's it's a great night for the club. If we somehow managed to get a win it would be Dreamland[emoji834][emoji833]
  17. Very promising result and performance at BB today. Shane Sutherland as we had hoped would be the case is a totally different player than he was before he left. His partnership with Hester is already looking very good. Defence and goalkeeper look solid and the midfield even without Soapy look much better than last season. It will take some goal to better Hester's strike as best goal we see at BB this season[emoji122][emoji834][emoji833]
  18. What a result that is tonight. With a weakened team aswell. Put it along with by all accounts a good performance on Saturday it's a very promising start. Hopefully build on it at BB on Saturday [emoji834][emoji833][emoji834][emoji833]
  19. Sounds like a decent performance today at Arbroath. Unlucky with the last minute winner and a blow with a serious shoulder injury to Darryl. Very poor start to the season injurywise
  20. Doesn't sound great at all. McDonald is going to be a key play this season if we are going to do anything at all in this league. The centre half partnership from last season concede far too many slack goals. No chance of winning a run of games with our goals against record.
  21. Lost 4-3 last night with a strong looking Elgin line up at Clach. Being down 3-0 after 5 minutes is not a good sign at all that our defensive problems have improved any
  22. Were Elgin as good as the scoreline suggests or was it a very young Aberdeen team? Very promising all the same. It's been many a year since a scoreline like that at BB.
  23. Whining? The harshest punishment ever givin out to what was really only exploiting a loophole in the system. What what a bet by John Teasdale have to do with the injustice of it?
  24. Have been very critical of the board in the past but fair play to them. This has been a very strong transfer window and all of the business has been completed reasonably early which gives us a chance to get off to a good start. Roll on the start of the season[emoji834][emoji833]
  25. That is exactly the way I see it aswell[emoji106]
