I think our squad is looking strong now. Really looking forward to the start of the season. I think this could be a good year for us. We always struggled against Peterhead and Clyde, not having them In the league is a major plus.

Totally undecided on Shane signing again. Great we have a player of his ability back again, hopefully motivated and desperate to do well. On the other hand still sickened by the way he left and by his terrible attitude he has shown for long spells on every occasion he's been with us.

Where are you seeing that?

It's either a desperate attempt from him to get Elgin to bid for him or a deal is about to be done surely. I'm starting to hope he is coming back.

Well aye you could well be right there. Im not the biggest fan of the way he has treated Elgin over the years at all. Very poor attitude

In today's Northern Scot Elgin are in talks for Shane Sutherland to be signed for a 4th spell at the club. Young winger Conor O'Keefe has signed a 1 year deal and Tam McHale will return and start the season as Number 1. My personal opinion on Shane is when his head is right he is a great player and it is him that is actively trying to return this time. So finally he might just feel settled and give his all to the club instead of constantly trying to work his ticket to a bigger club. If he does that he for me is one of the best players In the lower leagues.

Aye quite possibly. I never thought much of him when he did play but you are 100% right players need a run of games to get into their stride, especially wingers.

Ali Sutherland has signed for Rothes on a permanent deal. Don't think he is a great loss but we are starting to get low on numbers. I thought I seen Gavin Price saying we wanted to get our transfer dealings done early this summer?[emoji848]

I just think in the past couple of years it has dented our confidence a bit before the league even starts after taking a few hammerings. I just prefer the old knock out format.

Hibs, Alloa, Stirling Albion and Arbroath in the bet fred cup for us. Another very difficult draw with little or no upside in it. This format is mabye ok for the premier league and championship teams but really isn't great for the league 2 teams.

If that is the plan that is embarrassing. Darryl does offer a threat when he goes up if we are chasing a goal but he is certainly not a striker.

Aye he is mabye looking at signing an experience sitting midfielder and have Darryl and Soapy as the 2 attacking midfielders, although Omar is still signed for next season I believe. I don't think all that young lads will end up in the squad. Most will be loaned out to the Highland League again I think.

Readings in the Northern Scot that Gavin Price is starting the season with Darryl further forward. Presumably in Centre Midfield. I know that is a position where he played all through the youth system and where he always says is his main position. It remains to be seen if he has the pace and discipline to play there permanently though I would say. He is certainly a goal threat and good on the ball but not sure if he does the dirty side of that role well enough.

Will be interesting where Shane does end up. He lives local to Elgin and I can't see us being an option. Who does that leave within reasonable travelling distance[emoji848] How many of the Highland League clubs are still paying big cash? Because you have got to think that's where he's going to end up. They are welcome to him.

Fingers crossed Alec. I also hear that the manager has no time for him at all and was keen to get him out of the door.

Can't say I'm surprised it hasn't worked out for Shane there. His absolutely stinking attitude has obviously shone through once again. I know we desperately need strikers but I hope we don't go down that route again. He is more trouble than he is worth IMO.

Aye I agree 100% if the money is there go for a big push to get into the senior leagues. As you say no guarantees but they have got one hell of a chance now.

Mental money to be spending on a non-league club. If they don't win the league with that squad it will never happen

I think Darryl had a scan on friday on his knee. He is hoping its nothing serious so fingers crossed. I believe Mchale moved back south due to work reasons so not sure he will be back, but im the same i would like to see him as number 1. Its high time we went into a signed goalie as number 1 and bot our late 40s goalie coach as number 1 until a loan signing comes in at at the last minute.
