A 3-1 home defeat in the opening friendly to Forres tonight. The line up shows how woefully short we are for players. Drapers comments at the start of the week also worried me. Said he is not In too much of a hurry to sign players. Looking at the fact they can take in 5 loan players before the season starts. Grim stuff.

Aye a remember when that happened can’t remember fully what happened but heard he put some money in not sure if it was towards an academy and there was nothing shown for it so he retracted that’s what I heard but could be wrong
Aye I think that was the case. I am sure it was 250k he put forward.

Maybe a stupid question but is she any relation to Leslie benzies who made a few of the grand theft auto games and was supposedly interested in the club before
No she isn't. Was there not some sort of carry on with the money that he put up not being used or something then retracted? Typical Elgin!!!

She has been on the board for several years and I don’t think Graham run a dictatorship.
You are right, she has. But she could well have had more ideas that were not implemented. Or should I say her husband might have. He is the silent backer that just stays in the background by the looks of it.

I believe Graham's wife's health has been poor for a while now. All the very best to them. He has been a great servant to Elgin City.
But from a football point of view this has been needed for a long time. Hopefully now we will see a more forward thinking attitude and approach from Isla Benzie and her board.

Starting to get really scunnered now with the lack of updates or anything from the club. Every other club seem to be announcing signings galore.
We can't even get an update on pre season friendly fixtures from our club.
The players were back to start pre season training on Tuesday night. Is it too much to ask to give us some sort of update?
Worrying signs already for me after 2 abject league 2 finishes.

We had Wright and McKinnon lined up last year but a last minute change of mind from County took them to Montrose so doubt they will be an option having already been at a higher level. HL players will be out of our price range as these clubs are difficult to negotiate with certainly at Buckie level. We have Mchale Hoban and Kelly signed at GK so well covered there. I would think they will try for Ethan Cairns at ICT as his brother is with us and maybe Liam Harvey at Aberdeen who is an Elgin loon.
Would like to see Liam Harvey come in, seems an obvious loan for all parties. I believe Ross Draper is on a 2 week holiday the moment and the team are back for pre season train on Thursday. Hopefully a lot of work is going on behind the scenes, or as above I really fear for this season.

Not got a general manager since Kieran left so information is going to be slow till he is replaced!
Still very poor updates. There must be someone else at the club has the password for the social media accounts and at least post something. Hearing Forres away 22nd of June and Caley away on 8th of July in friendlies. Why is at least that not being published. We do not do ourselves any favours at times.

Shane Sutherland been released from caley is he on his way back to us or Peterhead I’d definitely take him back as we need a striker not sure if he’s full fit yet though
Do not think he is close to fitness yet. But I still think it is worth the gamble with him. Mabye on reduced terms until he could come back from injury. I see we are now the only club in league 2 that have not signed a player yet.
News out of the club seems to be even slower than normal about everything, which is some going.

Think if Darryl was still in contract it might have been a different call. Waiting on a new contract at the same time as a squad overhaul by a new manager is always going to be a tough one.

Just read that Darryl McHardy is being released. Bold move!
Huge call in Drapers 1st day in. Darryl did an interview with the P&J calling for Draper to get the job a couple of weeks ago as well. Bet he regrets that now.
Big call to bin the local lad straight off the bat.

On one hand you could say it’s a typical Elgin appointment, the easy option, the continuity appointment when we really need to break the same old. On the other hand you can look at it as a new manager with new ideas who might take us in a different direction.
He seems to be a well liked lad so hopefully he makes a success of it. Needs to get it right quickly though. Fingers crossed.
Totally agree. On 1st thought it does seem an almost lazy appointment. But he will certainly have a lot of contacts within the game. Cove going full time could be a decent avenue for some players who will remain part time mabye. Interesting few weeks ahead.

Be very interesting to see if Montrose have paid 50k for him. Seriously doubt it will be that much

Interesting news that Elgin have pulled out of the North of Scotland Cup and entered the Aberdeenshire set up. Very good news for the youth set up I would say. Gives a link to the 1st team above under 18 level now. Well needed especially with all the comments about struggling to recruit South based players.

How did young tam Findlay get on this season , would you have him back?
Would say he was decent, no more no less. Would have him back though. Maybe needs a decent run in the team to kick on.

Don’t think Elgin would have the money to pay for a an expensive KC. Maybe Gavin Price?
It could have been hearsay but I did hear they had paid for a top level KC. Gavin Price maybe would have been involved. Know that they did expect a big suspension at the minimum.

Kane Hester's interview in the Press & Journal today sticks in the throat a good bit too be honest.
A lot of his points are understandable with regards to playing at a higher level and closer to home.
But I cannot help but feel him claiming he kept us up by basically playing with broken leg for 2 months is massively far fetched.
Also the huge factor he has failed to even mention is that Elgin paid for an expensive lawyer to defend him in his laughable court case which he somehow got away with. Him putting in a transfer request right after the last game of the season feels like a massive kick in the teeth to us. The fact he has done that is bound to effect the transfer fee Elgin will now receive.

He has looked utterly disinterested of late so wouldn't be surprised if he was away.
I have thought similar but his reaction at full time on Saturday was certainly not of someone who didn't care. Was really animated for several minutes and along with Darryl probably celebrated the result the most in the team.

Now after that worry is gone what do the club do for next season? Have Draper & Charlie done enough to now be given the job? Seems to be a good mix and still allows Draper to play.

Tell you what might have been missed in all the celebrations at the end. Russell Dingwall did absolutely brilliant to chase down a breakaway at the very end before the free kick that won it for us. He not only stopped the break but somehow managed to keep possession and start the Elgin attack ended up winning the game. Happened right in front of me. Truly a brilliant piece of skill and desire.

There really is nothing like football. Awful game today and looking like needing something at Bonnyrigg next week to stay off bottom. Then the scenes when Draper popped up with that 94th minute winner make it all worth while. 7 points fae 9 at BB in the last few weeks have kept us up. What a relief

Real bad day for us today. Could not have went any worse. Another huge game at BB next Saturday now. Do not want to be be going to Bonnyrigg needing to win to stay off the bottom on the last day

Massive 3 points. Not a lot of quality on show from both sides but can’t fault our effort. They certainly scrapped for every ball and won the second ball on most occasions. Every player gave 100% but special mention to Cairns, he struggles in a lot of games but he gave very little away to Thomson, who is a good player and his block in the second half might have been the game winner.
Massive win today. Much like Tueday crowd right behind them the whole game helped the team along. Really good day. With the other results going our way as well this has went a long way to guarantee safety.
Totally agree on Cairns. He was outstanding today and I thought he was on Tuesday also, In a position that he badly struggled earlier in the campaign.

As gut wrenching as that late equaliser was last night that was the 1st bit of light at the end of the tunnel I have seen for months. The performance was decent, but more than that the whole crowd was behind the team the whole game with no negative shouts. If that continues on Saturday against Forfar I can see us possibly getting out of this mess.

Aye her comments were also worrying. Their heads cannot surely be that far in the sand to think that? I am amazed they have not signed a single player yet after the finish to last season and the amount of players we have lost.
