  1. Had my first accident on the bike today! Hurtling down the canal path by Bonnybridge at around 27km/h, expected someone to move over but they didn't (headphones in), their dog wasn't on a leash either so when I expected to just nip past the guy the dog moved so hit the brakes that hard I went over the handlebars just as the bike came to a full stop . Managed to dust myself off and carry on with blood all over my handlebar grips because of my bloody palms Definitely going to stay off the canal paths now if I'm out on a sprint. Too many Smombies, walkers with headphones in and groups of wee fannies on their bikes.
  2. Struggling to understand the concept of a 27 game season. Scrap the challenge Cup for starters and maybe the league Cup as well and play mid week games. My personal preference is we use this opportunity to switch to a summer season and restart the league in February next year.
  3. Jamie Barclay and JC Hutchison, add Paul Jarvie to that mix. We've had some right fuckin stinking goalies Gibson wasn't that much better either! Then we've had some top drawer keepers like Mitchell, Martin and Mentel.
  4. Aye it was quite enjoyable. The 3 hours seemed to go by pretty quickly. I've signed up to the 100km ride challenge on Strava for the month of June so hopefully I manage this. Going out on a 26km run today which takes me 1 hour and that'll be me past my 150km weekly target. When I started going on my bike in mid March I was doing a 18km ride and was blowing out my arse. Gradually extended my routes, going out every 2nd day before going out almost every day. Losing the weight quick enough and feeling much fitter.
  5. This was my effort this morning. Stuck to cycle paths on the Fife side to pretty much Rosyth, should've stuck to the roads as it would've been faster. On the way back however I managed some cracking speeds aided by a tailwind. Legs are still numb
  6. Never realised there was any debate on the use of helmets! Because I'm doing speeds of up to 55km/h (obviously downhill) and averaging speeds of 24km/h to 28km/h on my routes plus sharing roads with motorists it makes more sense to wear a helmet. In saying that, when I was in Malmö and Copenhagen last year I cycled around without a helmet but there I was doing low speeds and cycling on all the cycle paths. Also would've been the only one with a helmet on
  7. Seeing the attire chat. Never understood why people would jump about wearing team sky gear? Maybe the same way football fans wear their shirts so I've probably answered my own question I go with shorts and t-shirt or if its cooler or wet I'll chuck on a thin rain jacket thag easily packs into my frame bag. No interest in this lycra business though I've accepted I need to get padded shorts! Only managed 57km this week so I need to up the ante this weekend. Looking at doing Larbert to Culross to the Forth road bridge to Bo'ness to Grangemouth to Larbert. Think it's around 70km, might give that a bash tomorrow. Hopefully the wind calms down a bit though.
  8. No idea how Gladbach aren't winning here. Freiburg have properly parked the bus!
  9. The review suggested the breaks on the sub 400 quid model were excellent. I have disks on my current bike which I do like however, whether it's worth the extra 100 odd quid? Nae idea
  10. https://www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes/road-bikes/triban-rc120-review/ Just read this! I'm not wanting to spunk 4 figures on a bike like I know many who have done, reading this review tells me I don't need to spend that much for a decent bike.
  11. Also curious to see what bikes people have? I'm currently still jumping about in a 300 quid Carrera Subway One rigid Hybrid which has been great for me, got it serviced yesterday so I'm in no rush to change it yet but I'll likely be giving it to my son at some point and get myself something better. Only last week I done a 55km run out in it in 1h 59mins and 59secs! average speed of 27.5km so I get some good speed out of it but I'm hoping that something a bit lighter with a better gear ratio might let me get some higher speeds. Talking of average speeds, according to Strava I've clocked the fastest time between Bonnybridge lifting bridge and the Kelpies this year
  12. When do you guys tend to do your big run outs and how many km do you average a week? I've just returned to work from Furlough and now wondering when is best to fit in my rides. Whilst I was off I was able to go out for anything between an hour to 3 hours, last week I managed 255km. However being back at work and going home to a young family is not going to help me much! Still wanting to try and average 150km to 200km a week without pissing off the boss.
  13. As far as I'm aware Liga 3 is the highest any colts team can go. Was on a train in Germany heading to a Borussia game, Duisburg were also at home that day and as I was travelling from Kevelaer there was fans from both teams and the banter was brilliant. At one point a Gladbach fan started slagging MSV for being in the 2nd Liga for the MSV fan to correct him by saying 3rd liga prompting the train to fall into stitches of laughter
  14. Fucking hell, that is one tight title race! Easily any of the top 10 has a chance.
  15. Definitely some cracking players on that list. I think Willie Gibson is local to Cumbernauld? He'd be decent for a bit of experience. See Declan McManus on that list, surprised Ross County never retained him, I'm guessing Falkirk will quickly try and tie him up. Gregg Wylde can remain on that list. What a fuckin disappointment he was.
  16. Must be a lot more than that now judging by all the new babies of late? You can add my 2 to that list ETA - Just noticed you're only at page 406! Long way to go
  17. Listened to the new Craig Connelly album last week, definitely worth a weekend! Some cracking Progressive and Vocal Trance there
  18. I'm also cycling a hybrid (no suspension). Started off in March doing a 16km circuit. Increased it bit by bit doing a ride every 2nd day. Got to 26km before I started going for linger journeys, mixing it up a wee bit. Out almost every day now. 1h 45mins today (45km). Definitely taking a rest day tomorrow!
  19. Been upping it again on the bike, yesterday's run took me down to 85kg, a reduction of 8kg since mid-march! The canal towpaths are full of fannies right now so been doing a lot more road riding, really enjoyed this effort yesterday and chuffed with my average speed! Not bad for a £300 hybrid from Halfords. Going to get the thing serviced next week, hopefully that makes a difference. Went out another run today which was a 26km effort I complete in 60 minutes normally, hadnt done it in 2 weeks but went for it today and for what I felt was a casual run out, I matched my previous PB. I've been getting my cadence / gear selection a lot better and getting used to not having to leave the seat and just getting my legs to go quicker in a lower gear and it's working out a treat.
  20. Also, Peppa Pig has got a lot to answer for with my daughter loving to "jump up and down in muddle puddles" Cracks me up that programme, Peppa is a wee Wideo
  21. Last week my daughter got her dress boggin at lunch so after taking it off she was cutting about like this, reminding me off Freddie Mercury at Live Aid. Now after watching the live aid effort a few times she has became massive wee Queen fan to the point its on all the time now! Loves Radio Gaga and sings along with her golf club . She does the Eyo and everything. Definitely going to be a wee performer when she's older. Like I've not heard enough Queen, I'm sitting listening to Queen just now
  22. Just rattled through the last few pages! Some talented photographers here . Good job we've got such a stunning country to take pictures of
  23. Classic Hunburg. Not surprised to see such shitebagery under Dieter Hecking. At Borussia he had the team playing well for the Hinrunde, rückrunde we were always useless... Surprised he got the HahaSV gig.
