  1. I obviously brought a lot of this stuff on myself, and in some specific threads I was only getting back what I gave out. I do think it’s changed a bit recently though, in that previously I could take part in normal discussions about team selections, player recruitment and match threads such as this one. Now though I see the same few people responding to completely inoffensive posts with abusive rants. I‘ve taken no interest in the significance of red dots etc. and don’t even know what they mean, although I assume it’s something to do with a post which can cause offence. I think I was given one recently for taking part in a discussion on what the club will do in January. There was nothing offensive whatsoever in my post so I don’t really get that at all. You could argue that the red dot should go to the poster who suggested I get one. Whatever has caused this change has now spread from the Morton Forum onto this one. Disappointing but don’t worry, although it has diluted my enjoyment of participating in the forums, it has had no effect whatsoever on my mental health.
  2. I’m not sure what our injury situation is right now as I’ve seen no updates. Waters, Wilson, O’Connor and Quitongo have all been out injured but it would be good to hear when they’re expected to return.
  3. you're all spouting absolute garbage in favour of the wonderful Dougie Imrie. Take a step back and look at his management style, brilliant in respect of his impact on our prospects of promotion, but absolutely flawless in his policy on academy players? Come on FFS what specs are you guys wearing?
  4. As I remember it was quite near the start of the season. If I'm wrong and Dougie gave him the news in the treatment room, does that make it better or worse?
  5. Strapp says he has now been informed that he isn’t a part of Ton chief Dougie Imrie’s long term plans. Strapp exclusively told the Tele: “I’ve found out that I'll not be involved in the gaffer’s plans for next year, which I just need to take in my stride now. “I’ve got something concrete now that it’s time to shake hands and move on. "I’ve been here for over ten years, the club’s all I've known so who knows, maybe having a new test, new surroundings might not be the worst thing for me in the long run. "If I'm not in his plans or what he wants from the team then so be it."
  6. When have I said I want Dougie out? I had major issues with his policy re our academy recruits v some of his preferred options but that’s about it. Albeit I crossed the line with personal comments. Every other facet of his management style is just about spot on as fas I can see. When I see another club have sacked they’re manager I worry that we’ll lose Dougie, not the other way round.
  7. Lewis Strapp was told he had no future at Cappielow long before he sustained his career threatening injury at Celtic Park. "Still a man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest.......”
  8. Several Morton fans read that same article and came on here with similar opinions to myself. Why would I choose to dress something up when it spoke for itself?
  9. Lewis Strapp revealed that Dougie told him several months before he was released, that he had no future at Cappielow as long as Imrie was manager. He said he asked for a reason and wasn't given one.
  10. It wasn't a rumour TheGoon, it was a newspaper article by Lewis Strapp.
  11. My source is from the board via MCT. As a MCT Member I'm encouraged to ask questions and I've been pleasantly surprised at how my concerns are treated seriously and address as such. On some occasions MCT have forwarded my concerns to the board and came back with their response. In this case (policy on academy players) they simply said that the board had similar concerns to myself and put them to the manager. I'm sure that anyone on here or the Morton forum would be more surprised if I didn't articulate my concerns through that avenue in the same way as I do on these forums, albiet in a much more diplomatic fashion.
  12. That’s not just a change of heart, that’s a complete character transformation. Well done Dougie, takes a big man to own up to his mistakes then do something about them. You have to recognise your problem before you can resolve it! To be fair, the board did ask him to review his policy on local academy players as it's a big part of the club's strategy. Fair to say he's responed well.
  13. Regarding the “stories” on Dougie’s treatment of academy players, you just need to read the articles from the players after they’ve been jettisoned from the club. Strapp, Lyon and McGregor to name just three. They all complained they’d been told they had no future at Morton, with no explanation given. Guys Like King and Garrity who are out on loan obviously won’t complain until they’re shown the door. In my humble opinion all of these players are better options than Broadfoot, Power, Wilson and Boyd.
  14. My glimmer of consolation was it will now be an absolute no-brainer for the board when Dougie demands the signings he needs.
  15. Airdrie 2-1 Partick Ayr 2-1 Inverness Dundee United 1-2 Dunfermline Queen's Park 2-1 Arbroath Raith 1-2 Morton
  16. 1. Signing Colin McMenamin when we were top of the championship. 2. Playing Colin McMenamin instead of prolific striker Peter Weatherson.
  17. He's the same height as Andy Robertson and a couple of inches taller than Greg Taylor. Since when was height a pre-requisite for a full back?
  18. After posting I read an article by Kris Doolan saying he’s also exercising patience in the transfer market, and that he has a low budget. You’ve lost some effective players but made a good signing in Robinson. I also placed Morton quite low for similar reasons and will revise my predictions before the league campaign begins.
  19. Difficult to predict as far as Morton are concerned with some Dougie Imrie playing a game of patience with some hopefully decent signings to come. We’ve lost arguably the best two fullbacks in the division, in Strapp and Grimshaw, and downgraded to Waters and Broadfoot. Hopefully that trend won’t continue. Raith appear to have a strong squad supplemented by some good signings. QP also seem to be showing ambitions of greater things. I don’t think DU will find it so easy as people seem to think to get out of this division. Going with current squads I would go with the following placings, to be reviewed before the season starts: 1. Raith Rovers 2. Queens Park 3. Dundee United 4. Dunfermline 5. Ayr United 6. Morton 7. ICT 8. Partick 9. Airdrie 10. Arbroath
  20. As that was Airdrie we were playing that day you may find it was opposition fans who were wearing Sevco shirts, as they also carry union jack flags to matches.
  21. I think Morton and Thistle developed a bit of a rivalry when our traditional derby rivals St Mirren and Clyde were in different divisions. We've also had at least three promotion battles when we were both contenders, which tends to develop a rivarly plus resentment. I'm not sure exactly when (or if) the resentment crossed into hatred though, as I don't think that many fans actually "hate" Thistle. They do seem to have the media on their side though which can cause some resentment, which is probably not Thistle's doing, but they can milk it a bit and can be a bit unsufferable, therefore difficult to like, when they do come out on top. That's where the gloating comes from when they lose.
  22. Not sure but after the first leg they were celebrating as if the tie was over. Aiden Fitzpatrick high fived every fan he passed after being subbed late on. That seemed very premature after being 2-0 up against 10 men for around 70 minutes without being able to add a third goal.
