  1. It would be great if it did happen but I just don't see it. We have IMO done well this season with a much weaker squad. It's certainly hats off to Doolan, the players and all at Firhill. We have though been inconsistent which is why we failed to mount a serious challenge for the league title or second place. We made mistakes along the way but so did Raith and Dundee Utd. You also have to take into account the demands of a play-off system designed to protect the SPL side. I think you also need to factor in that if we were to reach the play-off and take a lead into the final game at Dingwall or Perth, the SPFL will find another sympathetic referee and that will be that.
  2. Looking at this game and the table it never occurred to me that any Ayr fans would be thinking about relegation. I would have thought with Arbroath already relegated the fight to avoid the relegation play-off is between Inverness and Queens Park. Although arithmetically Ayr could be involved it would take a really strange run of results for Ayr to be in the relegation play-off. Inverness have two difficult games against Dunfermline and Morton and Queens Park face Airdrie in their final game. I don't see all of these games going against you. Look forward to seeing you again next year in the Championship.
  3. The above represents my last word on Dingwall. So although I will never forget its time for me to move on. Cheers to all regardless of your take on Dingwall.
  4. I accept all these points and they are valid. But not one response acknowledges the impact of the play-off system in terms of fatigue and the cumulative affect on the players of a referee who couldnt get the most obvious decisions correct. The only reason RC were still in the game was because our players were very tired in the second half at firhill. That was when I first noticed tiredness as a factor. I take nothing away from RC . Their defenders made some great blocks in that second half but our players were guilty of over running the ball, guilty of clumsy first touches and wild swipes at the ball all when in good scoring positions. I also knew from past experience that when I saw who the ref was we wern't going to make to the SPL and I said that to two friends -a Rangers and an Airdrie supporter- before a ball was kicked. To say we shat the bed is an insult to our players. Do Jags supporters who say this expect players of the character of Holt and Docherty to do this! I say again it was a testament to the character of the players that we made it through extra time. Clearly on a public thread I can't say what I would really like to say but I am sure you know where I am thinking
  5. Your entitled to your opinion I have another view. I I wondered what the Dundee utd fan's reward would be (assuming you are referring to the referee) and lo and behold he was given the next old firm game. Coincidence, probably.
  6. No but injustice is never forgotten and I have always liked a good conspiracy theory. Don't forget we did take McLennan and Doncaster (in their guise as the SPFl) to arbitration and I am sure they didn't forget.
  7. We didn't shit the bed in Dingwall at all we were cheated out of our promotion to the SPL by the demands of a play-off system very much designed to protect the SPL club and on the day by a very poor referee. By the time we reached the 70th minutes when Walsh awarded RC a penalty kick for a handball that never was we should have been 4 goals up playing against 10 men. Walsh denied us the most blatant penalty you'll ever see and a RC player should have been given a red card for a clear lunge on Tiffoney. Walsh initially ignored the handball and gave the penalty and red card decisions but reversed the 3 decisions on the say so of the VAR official. All to the benefit of RC. According to commentators and pundits his initial decisions were correct and his VAR 'influenced' decisions were wrong. I was amazed we managed to get as far as penalty kicks. I suggest you watch the highlights and imagine its Airdrie playing RC. I would be interested in your opinion following that. There has been over the past couple of seasons a lot of talk about football integrity well as far as the play-off system and that particular game there was no football integrity attached to any aspect.
  8. I think most Dundee fans on this thread will know that I an not a fan of your club - at least for as long as Nelms is there. Back stabbing B! But there is a point I should have clarified a lot earlier and that is I am a fan of the Dundee Football Team and have been since the glory days of Alan Gilzean etc. Watching the highlights of the Rangers game was the Dundee team of old playing fast and exciting football which should have brought a win or at least a penalty for hand ball. Don't know how the ref missed that. Regarding your pitch and from a neutral position I think the SPL are fining the club with an immediate punishment but deferring the rest until next season. What the SPL are doing is saying to the Club 'you have been given a chance to sort out your pitch otherwise you will have to pay the deferred amount if you don't do so'! This seems fair to me. However if next season a game is postponed because of a waterlogged pitch and there are other postponements as well at, say, Tannadice, Arbroath, St Johnstone, Raith and Dunfermline etc then I would not expect the deferred penalty to be implemented. well done on top 6 and the performace v Rangers. Please get rid of that back stabbing B, Nelms.
  9. Just come on to pie and bovril after a bit of an absence. Sorry you have not had a successful season and would like to wish you every success in League 1. Hope to see you back in the Championship in 25/26. I don't know what's going on at the club so perhaps shouldn't comment. So offering only a couple of personal opinions. I was very surprised when the club let Linn go. He was a player (with McKenna and McBride) I would have loved to see playing in Jags colours. I know Linn was nearing the end of his career but still considered him to be an influential player (like Lawless for us). While not the only reason I thought not playing him and his subsequent departure contributed to the Club's decline. Why wouldn't Cambell play him? It seemed to me Campbell was cutting off his nose to spite his face by not playing him. Was there something going on with them? Finally, I hope I am wrong, but I thought appointing your present manager was a mistake. Haste ye back to the Championship. Hopefully we will be there waiting to welcome and not passing you on our way to League 1.
  10. Afraid I am biased - I just don't like artifical football surfaces. I would like to see all SPL and Championship games played on grass.
  11. Livingston fans shouldn't worry about this tie Nick Walsh is the referee and he will give you all the big decisions and most of the little ones as well. Walsh will give you a very soft penalty for a HT 1-0 lead. He will then allow a blatantly offside goal for 2-0. He will deny the Jags a blatant penalty at 1-0 and disallow a perfectly good goal with 10mins to go at 2-0. Finally he will send Brian Graham off around the 70th min. Final score 2-0 Livingston. Walsh will feel criticism of his performance is unfair and he will say that both Murdoch McLennan and Neil Doncaster called to congratulate him on a fine performance!
  12. I wouldn't mind Dundee utd and Raith being relegated but they have a better chance of promotion than going down! So will opt for Arbroath (because of their horrendus injury list) and Dunfermline (because of their manager who has never impressed me).
  13. Just watched the highlights of the winning goal. Great cross by Lawless but did Milne actually get his head to the ball? First time I have seen our grey/pink away strip in action. Didn't really fancy it when I saw the first images but changed my mind after tonight. Thought it made the Jsgs look sleek and quick. Very jazzy outfit!
  14. There will be a big Jags support at Somerset on Friday so don't assume 80% is all about home fans. I for one certainly don't think the tie is over and admit that the prospect of Dipo playing does worry me a bit. I am more worried though that in the games against Queens Park and at Firhill against Ayr everything went our way. I just feel that we might be heading for a big fall in this 4th play-off game. If Dipo plays I hope Doolan moves Holt from left back, where he has been covering for the injured Milne, to Central Defence. Holt can then partner Muirhead or Brownlie I think Holt is our best central defender and will be able to handle Dipo better than Muirhead or Brownlie. This, though leaves us the problem of covering left back! Here's hoping for a good game and a Jags win on the night.
  15. A big well done to Falkirk in reaching the semi-final from a Partick fan. Best of luck.against ICT. They are a good team and on form so will be difficult. However you gave Ayr a goal of a start and beat them so you have a good chance to reach the final though ICT will start favourites.
