  1. Airdrie 2-0 Clyde Alloa 1-2 Cove Falkirk 4-0 East Fife Peterhead 2-1 Dumbarton Queen's Park 0-1 Montrose
  2. I witnessed Duffy in the lowly depths of League 1 last season and he almost relegated Dumbarton playing the most negative and uninspiring style of football known to man. Was shocked to see him at Ayr even as a number 2 afte that tbh
  3. Morgyn Neill with his first Cove goal grabs 3 points right at the death in what was a poor spectacle of a game. 2nd half saw Cove create more chances and hit the bar twice with headers from Milne and Neill. Mitch really should have taken his chance but Currie made a commendable save. During the midpoint of the second half I thought we looked likely to score but failed to do so. Big 3 points, and nice to record our 3rd clean sheet in 4, but the performance is worrying. Midfield today was essentially 3 defensive midfielders and Masson who looks a shadow of his self currently. Midfield look completely incapable of supporting any attacks and quite happy to slow everything down and play far too deep. No width as Blair was on the bench. Thought Vigurs was useless today and Fyvie not much better. Neill won everything in the air and was not ran at which showed him in very good light. Need far more intensity and spark going forward. Expected much more from Airdrie, who clearly had an off day / got their tactics a bit wrong. Gal ran the channels well and was a handful but Salim, Frizzell and even Easton weren't quite at it.
  4. Cove starting lineup below. Interestingly Yule is on the bench after his 1 game suspension and we have no recognised right winger. Strachan on the bench due to coming back from being out with COVID means Morgyn Neill starts again. Diamonds without McCabe and Fordyce.
  5. If you go to the below URL you should be able to purchase a single game. Think it was only showing a season pass for me this morning too. https://coverangersfc.univtec.com/event/614dfc5baef4b66edf8a7081
  6. The Dundee fans give a glowing review of him and supposedly he's easy a level above L1. A few of the reviews stating he wouldn't look out of place in prem this season. How do we slot him into our starting XI though is my concern. Is he too similar to what we have already? He sounds like a young Fyvie. Fyvie needs to start for me and PH hasn't subbed Vigurs once yet. Latter is who I'd be leaving out / rotating for Fin if he does look as promising.
  7. He'll be competing with Fyvie, Vigurs, Scully and Draper for a CM place. I hope he gets game time as sounds a real talent. Wouldn't want him to come to Cove and sit on the bench for 3 months. I noticed he's played circa 30 games and not 19 until November. Take it a lot of them will have been as substitute appearances.
  8. Finiesta - like that! Hartley loves signing very similar players. He sounds like a young Fraser Fyvie to be honest. I don't see us dropping Fyvie but personally would drop/rotate "quarterback" Vigurs to give Fin game time. Sounds like a good signing to be honest even though a winger or number 10 is more what we really needed.
  9. Fin Robertson - assessment of the young midfielder who has joined us on loan until January would be welcome. I believe he's a centre mid. What are his best attributes, got any creativity, pace and goals in him or his he more defensively minded? We are currently playing Fyvie and Vigurs in CM and have Scully that can play that position too. Sadly have Draper too but less said about him the better. Wonder where Fin will fit in.
  10. Cove sign midfielder Finlay Robertson on loan from Dundee until January Another central midfielder to add to the pile!
  11. So will Cove and the other 8 League One sides Think he would be better off at a club with slightly less pressure/expectation and where he'd get more run of games as you say.
  12. Cove Rangers 2 Airdrieonians 0 Dumbarton 0 Alloa Athletic 1 East Fife 1 Clyde 1 Montrose 0 Falkirk 1 Queen's Park 2 Peterhead 0
  13. Queen's have dipped into the loan market well. Connell is a classy player and will do a fine job this season. Connor Smith who we had last season showed signs of promise and is a forward thinking attacking midfielder. Don't know much and Jack Thomson and Luis Longstaff. How are they getting on, impressed?
  14. Seems like he's had a fair input into most of the signings so far and the last few look like there not quite the standard needed. We're used to that with PH. Hartley was also on the TV on the weekend for the Dundee derby, didn't watch it but hope he was asking about Glass, Mochrie or Meekison.
  15. Undoubtedly Alloa have done the best loan business so far in Niang and Henderson. Former is solid CM who by all accounts is on fire and Henderson has pace and can finish.
  16. Yeah Holt needs to be doing something in the next week to cover his FT DoF wage and may as well be scouring for talent. He and Hartley are equally as useless in that department it seems!
  17. Only 3 loan signings. Fair play to SF he's taken in a lot of players on permanent contracts and so far turned around performances, got goals in the side and in a league position I doubt Duffy would have ever managed. Plausible explanation as to why the loan market hasn't been as dyanmic as previous seasons. Clubs maybe holding onto players in the event of a COVID outbreak.
  18. I'm trying to remember that game, was there and do remember Dan Higgins opening the scoring. Those were the days we had Declan Glass who was outstanding for us, Matty Smith who I thought had something about him and Canto who I still think would get game time for us now. 8 of the players that started that day are still in our starting XI Salim up top for Queen's. Yes much better watching your own side in action
  19. Just watched the highlights from Saturday now. Thought it was harsh at the time but that confirms it. Not a pen for me so Peterhead can rightly be aggrieved. Scott Brown is a top quality CM at L1 level. Peterhead kept good shape and looked resilient. Should be a decent game against a yet undefeated QP.
  20. Is it just me or has there been a serious lack of loans this summer in L1? How many loans has your club taken in? Cove have a grand total of 0 and theres only 8 days left. Falkirk, QP, Peterhead and Alloa have taken in Ruth & McDaid, Connell & Smith, Duffy and Henderson respectively in the last week or so. There must be more players at a higher level that are due to be loaned out for game time.
  21. What game did you see at Balmoral out of interest? Airdrie are definitely on the up. I expect a different Airdrie this time around with more midfield creativity in Easton, Agnew and Frizzell but maybe missing a battler in CM. Solid defence as normal and still got goalscorers. Cove are looking tighter defensively as of late and if we can get Strachan back in for Morgyn Neill we'll strengthen yet again. We will likely start Vigurs and Fyvie in central midfield who although can dictate the tempo of the game they aren't breaking the lines often and getting past the strikers. Fyvie I do rate highly. We only have 3 goalscorers (Mitch, Rory and Leitch) in our opening first 7 league games. We definitely need others to chip in. Mitch hasn't scored in any of his last 4 games, doesn't normally go this long without one so I would almost bank on him scoring on Saturday.
  22. Not too many points to add to the tally for most this week! A few unexpected results in this crazy tightly packed league.
  23. . He better start recruiting players that improve the squad then. I'd love to hear his analysis on the 8 new summer signings. Not many get pass marks from me. Shay is the only one worth a shirt and he's very much a short term fix given his age. Perplexed we haven't used the loan market yet. I'm thinking he must be trying and missing out on targets. Need 2 in at least to strengthen things. Petulance over the Airdrie semi is the only excuse for dropping McKenzie I can think of. Gladly he's seen the light and got the ball boy benched and Stuart between the sticks. We can count ourselves fortunate to be sitting 3rd 2 points off the top. Must improve going forward to retain / build on our league position.
  24. Full time and ends with a narrow 1-0 Cove win. A lacklustre slog of a game whichever looked to be heading towards a goalless draw only for a stupid hand ball which led to a pen dispatched by Rory. Cove can feel fortunate to pick up 3 points, although we had the better half chances there was little quality on show. 1 goal conceded in the last 3 games with Stuart back in goals. That was a pen. Scott Brown a stand out for me.
  25. Cove line up this today. Strachan misses out as is self isolating (last game) which means Morgyn Neill plays AGAIN. The boy is never ill or injured it seems and is getting far more games than he should. Scully will play in a 3 man centre mid with no right winger. Like last week Shay Logan will play both RB/RW. Leitch, who has been relatively poor is cleared not favoured.
