  1. Cove starting lineup is below. Shay Logan, who picked up a little knock late on against QP, misses out. Hartley picking Finn and Vigurs over Yule and Scully is madness for me. Why leave energy and pace on the bench for a ex-prem player who isn't overly impressive. Harry back is a huge plus. He and Masson on the left side should be dangerous and give supply to Mitch and Rory
  2. Tough one to call but you might well be right. 3 wins and 3 losses away from home for us so far. It's bang or bust normally. Last2 visits to LP for Cove were a 1-0 defeat thanks to a Fraser Fyvie og in a game we should have at least took a point from and a 2-0 win (think Mitch got them both) I fancy Mitch to score again after his goal last weekend. If we repeat our performance against QP we'll be hoping to grab all the points. Was impressed with Mo at Balmoral. Dangerous from set pieces and defending them is a wee chink in our armour. Can Mitch and Rory outscore Mo? That's how I see us winning.
  3. Only 1 point separates the team's going into Saturday's fixture at Links Park. It's a top of the table clash for the second week in a row for Cove who were unlucky to not secure the 3 points against a resilient Queen's. Montrose will be a stern test, currently on a 5 game unbeaten run which includes 3 draws. Mo have undoubtedly strengthen since the teams last met with Cammy B and Keating's coming in. Cove are 3 wins, a draw and a loss in their last 5. Last week's match was our best performance all season. We looked like how we played last season (a positive) and have Harry Milne, Blair Yule and Scott Ross to return. Mitch broke his 7 league game goalless streak and Jamie Masson is looking fit and dangerous of the left flank. Big 3 points up for grabs
  4. He's done alright so far. We really need an AM and it's clear he's not that. He did put in a wonderful cross for Mitch's header (our 2nd goal on Saturday). He's been forced to play almost right wing the last couple of games or extreme right mid. I expect Blair Yule, returning from a slight knock, to take his place and Finn to drop to the bench. We have Fyvie and Vigurs in CM. Latter shouldn't start but I've have Scully over Finn in the middle. Should develop into a decent player. Not sure I see him ready for the prem yet but only seen him 4 or 5 times.
  5. Airdrie 3-1 Peterhead Dumbarton 2-0 Clyde Falkirk 2-1 Alloa Montrose 1-3 Cove Queen's Park 1-1 East Fife
  6. Take Hartley instead, pleeeease. We want John Sheran back. In fact, if Petrie goes then do Montrose want Hartley? Guaranteed 1 out 10 signing is a success!
  7. Think Petrie will be tempted to join Dunfermline? Would be a massive loss for Mo and for the league in general. Hands down the best manager in L1. Looking forward to Links Park next week. We finally put in a performance yesterday and were unlucky to not get all 3 points. Heard Mo should have done the same.
  8. Would be a great appointment. He's done wonders at Montrose. Undoubtedly best manager in L1
  9. Was an entertaining game to watch but one if you're a Cove fan you think we should have got more from. The first 40 minutes we could have been out of sight (but weren't) and went into the break losing 2-1. With Harry Milne and Blair Yule soon to be fully fit that will give us width back and more threat in those areas. Scott Ross will strengthen the back line too. Queen's looked short of a Fyvie in the middle and we looked short of a Longridge, Brown or Connell to replace quarterback Vigurs (too defensive/slow). Cove lacking an AM / number 10 and Queen's lacking a 20 goal a season striker. Quitongo will strengthen the Spiders. For me Mitch & Rory > Murray & McHugh. Queen's summer recruitment is better than Cove's. 2 good sides who desperately want promotion and could cause some Championship sides problems as is.
  10. In all fairness was a bit earlier in the game that Fyvie got sent off compared to Murray today. A great free kick and a howler from Gourlay secured the points thereafter but was earned after 2nd half performance. Big respect to Queen's for coming back and getting the point. Certainly a point gained for the Spiders. Thought Queen's looked frail at the back which they will want to improve upon. Mad league. No one at the level of Partick like last year.
  11. Can't help but think that's 2 big points dropped. Cove looked by far the better side on the day and dominated stats and play in general. Leaving the ground very much disappointed. Good watch all the same.
  12. You can see Vigurs and Fyvie getting caught out by the Queen's midfield runners but the large majority of the attacking threat and ball was from Cove. At 1-0 I was waiting for it to be 2 and close to being out of sight. Goals change games as they say.
  13. Half time and 2-1 Queen's. I thought we dominated that first 45 and had countless chances along with the hitting the crossbar and post. Need a big response now.
  14. Cove go for the same 11 that started last week against Clyde. Sadly Harry and Blair are still only fit for the bench. That's a big miss for us from an energy and offensive threat. It will be a narrow defensive diamond in the middle with Masson playing at the peak / wide left at times. No right winger so Logan will be asked to be a RWB. Not a midfield I like and will be our weakness. Scott Ross over Morgyn Neill any day for me. Scott had a wee knock and misses his 2nd straight game. Unbalanced side for Cove so not expecting free flowing silky football from us.
  15. I've got that on my weekly coupon. Airdrie are a good side and in form. Should be a decent game.
  16. Yeah our Fanzone or bar is open, normally from 12 noon. Reopened at our last home game against Clyde
  17. Should have the hallmarks of a good game especially if we can keep all 11 men on the park. I think that was Fyvie's first red card for us and to be honest apart from Blair Yule being harshly double yellowed against Montrose this season I can't think of another red card since we entered the SPFL. I also felt that Falkirk were marginally the better side when they played us in the opening game. We sneaked an equaliser through McAllister that day. We had barely kicked a ball pre-season but they had isolation issues too. Our form of late, 4 wins and 1 loss (EF away) in the last 5 looks a bit better than our performances merited. Lately our midfield has been imbalanced with people playing out of position and in general it's been too deep and defensive. We should have Harry Milne and Blair Yule back in the side tomorrow which will add energy and spark. I thought the game between the sides was fairly even at Firhill and could have gone either way before the red card sealed our fate. Gladly, for us but not for McHugh, Gourlay is benched and we have a proper keeper in-between the sticks. Interested and slightly worried about Luca and Brown running rings round Vigurs. Mitch is 7 straight league games without a goal which I can't see continuing for too much longer. He's looked threatening but it hasn't quite fallen into place for him so far. Who knows which will it will go..
  18. The stream is pixellot as far as I know. It's not bad and the commentary via Scott Davie is impartial and normally a good standard. It's better than nothing but nothing!
  19. Alloa 1-0 Airdrie Clyde 1-3 Falkirk Cove Rangers 2-0 Queen's Park East Fife 1-1 Dumbarton Peterhead 1-2 Montrose
  20. To be honest i'd be saying the same if it was at Palmerston
  21. Changed, apologies! Ally Roy I saw a bit of last season playing for Airdrie. He didn't get regular starts but knew where the net was.
  22. Must admit I was hoping for any home tie from the draw although QoS will be a tricky opponent but one we'll relish given its a team from the league above. We beat ICT at Balmoral 3-1 in the PS cup but given that competition was effectively both teams pre-season due to COVID problems not much to read into. This season we've been underwhelming so far. Our midfield dynamic is wrong; too deep. We have Fyvie and Vigurs who are sitters in CM and we've struggled to keep our wingers Masson and Yule fit. Hartley's summer recruitment was a 3/10 imo. Logan the only good addition. Only 1 loanee, Finn Robertson, who wasn't positionally the type of player we needed. Mitch and Rory are a big threat at the top end. Especially the former. Doonhamers I think have recruited quite well. Always liked Paton and Innes Cameron is a scoop of a loan. Lee Connelly and Junior give good attacking threat. Surprised to see you only score 10 in 10 league games. Should be an interesting and competitive tie.
  23. Masson on the left who partners well with Harry, who we need fit and to stay fit. He's a huge threat down the left side and adds really energy and pace to our side. Right wing is a weakness if we play Yule in the middle. Leitch isn't strong enough and Ola who knows. I doubt he's the answer. Jevan played in the 2-1 Clyde loss and looked out of his depth. Doubt we'll see much of him! I thought we were poor, especially the first half. The same lethargic, slow tempo stuff and midfield distant from the two up top. We played a diamond of Vigurs, Fyvie, Finn and Masson. Clyde didn't threaten us overly. Next week will be interesting, can we step it up when we have to and go top? Mitch 7 straight leagues without a goal. That run surely has to end soon as he's far superior than that.
  24. Not sure if 3-0 flattered us, perhaps. Certainly wasn't comprehensive and for the first 40 odd minutes it was even. Clyde didn't offer too much today and aren't in the best of form but I thought we also looked disjointed and struggling for ideas. Everything is far too slow and defensive. Quite uninspiring at present.
