  1. Next three league games of Falkirk (h), Airdrie (a) and then Montrose (a). An extremely tough run of fixtures, with Montrose being the toughest imo. Morale will not be at the highest with 2 points in 9 against the bottom 3. Very interested to see how Queen's react to the dip in results. Can they muster some unlikely wins? What is an achievable total for those games? Having watched QP against Cove I certainly didn't expect the poor run. All it takes is a win to turn the corner though.
  2. Goalless at the break. Neither team hit their stride as of yet. As I expected not the free flowing passing game of last week from Cove. Thought we had a couple of half chances with Masson's 2 shots and Rory should have done better with his near post header. Jevan looking like a 3rd choice RB. Airdrie have had limited chances so far but look like they could counter and set pieces could be a route to goal. Ref a bit quick brandishing cards. Didn't think there was much in Rico's.
  3. Big miss today not having Shay Logan or Scott Ross which means we have no recognised RB. Worse still is we play Jevan Anderson who in the few minutes of action I saw him against Clyde looked a weak link. Fyvie still has a niggle so it's Scully and Vigurs in CM. I suspect a different performance than the one last week against Peterhead. Take a point seeing our lineup.
  4. Airdrie 1-2 Cove Alloa 3-1 Dumbarton Clyde 1-1 East Fife Falkirk 1-2 Montrose Peterhead 0-1 Queen's Park
  5. Clash of the titans, ok not quite but two teams in form and hoping to be title challengers this season. I'll be travelling down to the game on Saturday. Last week was our best performance of the season so far. Movement and creativity which was a joy to watch. The only downside was we missed a barrel load of great chances; something we can't do against the likes of an inform Airdrie side. Airdrie will pose more of a test than the reverse fixture a few weeks back for various reasons such as being at home, in better form, Fordyce/McCabe/McInroy all potential starters. Cove's upturn in performances is a large part due to getting width back in the team. With Milne and Masson and Logan and Yule on the wings we have pace and opportunity to supply the front two. Hopefully PH goes with Scully and Fyvie in CM but we all know it will be Vigurs who will partner Fraser and Connor will be benched. Mitch coming off a brace should be brimming with confidence. There will be goals I reckon but who will outscore the other!
  6. Our biggest crowd of the season. "Derby" and probably some Dons fans wanting to take in a game on international break.
  7. We play Airdrie down there next week. Would rather play Dumbarton though
  8. Could of have been 7-0. Dominating performance. Peterhead never got going.
  9. One of the most one sided first halves I've seen in a while. How's it 0-0 I'll never know. Cove hit the bar, post, had one cleared off the line. At least one strong penalty claim. Second half all to play for.
  10. There is a strong interest/alliance to Dundee as you rightly say. I'd love to say Robertson can excel at Dundee in the Premiership but I don't see it. I think he'd struggle in the championship going by his performances so far and is rightly benched today imo. For me I'd put him 5th in our CM pecking order; Fyvie, Scully, Yule, Vigurs, Finn. Lyall Cameron always impresses me and although Josh Mulligan looked out of his depth for us he's been impressive at Peterhead this season.
  11. Cove starting lineup is per below. Fyvie missed training on Tuesday after picking up a knock and he's out of the squad this week. For some reason we play 5 defenders. Can only assume Strachan will play alongside Vigurs in the middle. Why Scully doesn't get a start is truly beyond me. Yule and Masson on the wingers with Logan and Milne behind them should give us great width and supply to our top two. Fairly strong starting lineup for us
  12. Balmoral it is for the NE League 1 derby match. Will be our 3rd encounter in 4 months with both sides chalking up one win each. Cove coming off of 2 draws to QP and Montrose and are 1 defeat in 8 league games. Peterhead were 4 unbeaten until there 3-1 loss at Airdrie. Both sides will fancy the 3 points and I suspect it will be fairly tight. Who knows how we'll line up in midfield but surely we play Blair and if we have any sense we play Scully too. Probably a banker Rory scores
  13. Yeah they do sell alcohol, can vouch for that! Sure there will be space for all QoS fans albeit standing rather than sitting. Good luck at Gayfield today.
  14. Our Fanzone, within the ground, is probably the best shout. No real pub or one with any atmosphere near the ground unfortunately.
  15. Ran rings round Morgyn Neill and was clinical against us in our 2-1 defeat. Some days you feel he's unplayable but doesn't always produce. 11 goals in 13 league games
  16. Defender Cammy Ballantyne for me. Both quality players though. Yeah nabbed Lennox, always impresses me when I see him in action. Rory as an impact sub!
  17. My team below, only Mitch and Harry Milne from Cove. Latter is a stellar left back but appreciate many others will go for Steeves. This reaffirms my thoughts of how offensively limiting our centre midfielders are to others in the league. Subs: Parry Ballantyne Telfer L Brown Henderson Nesbitt Easton McAllister Logan
  18. Alloa 1 - 2 Montrose Cove 2 - 0 Peterhead Dumbarton 1 - 2 Falkirk East Fife 1 - 1 Airdrie Queen's Park 3 - 1 Clyde
  19. A couple of months back I got 13 points somehow. Never to be repeated by myself again that's for sure. Normally 5/6 points is my limit!
  20. I've been thinking and saying this to others for a few weeks. We showed a glimpse of our best against Queen's last weekend but have looked average all season. Team selection isn't helping and Hartley's recruitment is a major factor. I doubt we'll stretch away or make a killer January signing. Been very impressed with Airdrie and Montrose. Those teams are most likely in my opinion although Morrison coming back will undoubtedly strengthen the Bairns and I expect an uptick in Falkirk's form. I don't have much confidence in Sheerin's or Hartley's recruitment. Ian Murray and Stewart Petrie I'd have much more confidence in finding a player.
  21. Be a far better team without Vigurs in my opinion. He's played every minute of the 17 out of 19 match day squads he's been involved and in large has been grossly average. Cost us a few points (Clyde comes to mind). Cove fans would rather see Scully play, who has great work-rate and is more box to box than Vigurs. He'd compliment Fyvie more. They do moan no denying that. Hartley's recruitment has been poor this summer. Shay Logan the only good addition. Morgyn Neill and Vigurs average at best and the other 5 not worth a shirt. We've signed far too many defensive midfielders and have little creativity or attacking midfielders. Our downfall I think. Mo, on the othe hand, have a great manager who rarely signs a player who doesn't compliment the side. Uses the loan market well and has a cohesive unit of a team. Mo are only 1 player away from being top and perhaps staying there for me and that's a striker. Not sure Keatings is a 20 goal a season striker. Montrose are a danger to everyone in the league and will be right near the top at the season end.
  22. My assessment of Queen's from what I've seen so far this season which is only 2 live games against us and match highlights in other games is a strong depth of squad, lots of attacking midfield flair players who flood forward but missing a really clinical forward. Lately conceding far too many goals and need to stem that habit. Jointed top scorers in the league (with Cove) and conceded the 2nd least behind Montrose. Can't argue with those stats after 13 games but only 2 wins in 8 is slightly worrying. Need to win next week imo as the following 4 fixtures are tough Peterhead (a), Falkirk (h), Airdrie (a), Montrose (a) Saying all of that there is very little between the top 5 or 6 teams. I don't see Queen's dropping down the league but nor do I see them stretching away from the pack. Queen's fans humble in the whole and know it can take time to progress. By no means a certainty that QP go up automatically this season. Certainly the same for Cove. I think we (QP and Cove) are no better than the other top 5 teams in large and playoffs might be where we end up. Getting up through the playoffs is very tough as we showed last season
  23. Agreed about the wind ruining the game. I thought Montrose edged the match overall and had some good opportunities coming from the wings. Cove were fairly poor in position and looked disjointed at times. Apart from Mitch's chance which he put over the bar when one on one we didn't offer much. All really tight at the top. Impressed again with Montrose. Solid team with no really weakness
