He’s not on an apprentice contract but please continue.
Yes he is. He’s got a 2 year apprentice contract with an extra year for the year after.0 -
Dundee Utd cant afford him! None of them can he’s already priced out with their budgets.
How much money do you think we can realistically expect to get for a player on an apprentice contract?0 -
The Press reported that Arsenal and Dundee Utd were watching Bowie yesterday. It would be interesting what sort of money we would get if a big team from down south came in for him. We won’t have any chance of getting out of this league without him and Vaughan though!

Changing the subject slightly but what on earth has happened to Dan Armstrong since he came back? Apart from that free kick against Falkirk he’s done nothing and looks disinterested.

That was purgatory today. How we're through to the next round I have no idea. That first 30 minutes Peterhead absolutely destroyed us and even after they ran out of steam they still had comfortably the better of things.
Taking Baird off was a mental decision unless he was carrying a knock of some kind.
I thought putting him and Allan up front together was a poor decision and a waste of a substitution. He didn’t look happy when he came off.0 -
We need to drop some of these jobbers for Tuesday and take a gamble with youth. Thankfully Davo's banned, he was shite today.
Gamble with youth? You do know we don’t have a youth team right? The only youth we have who didn’t start today was Dylan Tait and he will be a certain to play on Tuesday due to injury and suspensions I’d imagine.1 -
Totally forgot about Booth! He was a great player for us. I actually swithered about putting Allan Walker in the side until I remembered about how much of an arse he was when he left! Craig Wilson was a contender at right back too.

Marv wasn't this decade.
Played for us in 2009 according to the never incorrect source that is Wikipedia0 -
Who would be in everyone's team of the past decade? (or whatever the time frame is the ffp are running with) there's a few certainty's for me such as mcgurn but I'm struggling with a few positions so will see if anyone else jogs my memory before I post my team.
Mcgurn
Jason Thomson
Marvin Andrews
Mark Campbell
Laurie Ellis
*Grant Murray*
Ross Callaghan
Regan Hendry
Lewis Vaughan
John Baird
Brian Graham
*Was going to put Murray at left back back wanted to put Laurie in the side!

I’d have Graham and Baird before Tade and Baird.

I think he said 1 in 9 not 1 in 1
Yup, he played 9 games and conceded 1 goal! Tell me I’m rang?0 -
There’s another keeper with a ratio of one goal conceded every 9 competitive games played. Surely a better shout than Mcgurn?

Had to google who that was, firstly, oaft - howling! Secondly, brilliant 1 liner [emoji23][emoji1319]
You had to google who he was? He’s played pretty much every week!2 -
Completely agree with Brashy’s assessment. Also thought it was poor from the crowd the amount of times mobile phones went off, despite a reminder at the interval. I was surprised to hear that it’s going ahead next year. I think it needs a wee break. You know we are struggling for people when folk like Alan Crow are getting awards!

Lewis Allan not far away either
We have definitely missed him. I was a bit critical of him before his injury but I think we have struggled for a bit of physical presence without him in the side. It’ll be really interesting to pick a front line once we have Armstrong, Anderson, Gullan, Victoria, Bowie, Baird, Allan and Smith available!0 -
Had almost forgotten all about Victoria. Although he’s not been great, it’s good to have another body available!

Tade is a real character and a great guy but I don’t think he’s what we need just now. As a footballer, he was all pace and power but technically pretty poor. I can only assume with age and injury that his pace will have dropped.
As an aside, what a player Brad Spencer is becoming. I think some of what he does goes unnoticed. The amount of times he wins the ball back in the middle of the park and sets up an attack is tremendous. He’s my POTY so far!1 -
You said "Have the people calling for Dave McKay to get a start actually seen him play? " Yes! McKay came in for both Davo and Bene in the last 2 seasons when they were injured. On one occasion McKay was MotM the following week and for a few games looked like the best centre half we had (including Murray) yet as soon as both Davo and Bene were
fitavailable he was dropped like a hot potato. All too often McGlynn has shoved him in at RB when he's clearly not a right back and it's unfair to judge him as such, something akin to playing Vaughan or Matthews out wide or Gillespie at right back, yes they can fill the jersey but they don't look like they should be there.
You also said "I suspect both will leave at the end of the season." If McKay is released at the end of the season it will be down to McGlynn blindness and favouritism of Bene and Davo, McKay is a very good if not great prospect but he isn't getting a chance.
Watson I feel sorry for too, he badly needs game time but with only 2 spare defenders on the bench we can't even put him out on loan to get experience, which is a shame as he is good at both defending and attacking and has a rifle like shot on him too.
I've seen both these players at reserve level and in the 1st team too, have you?
You also said "I don’t see us playing a back three tomorrow against a team who will almost certainly have ten men behind the ball." What do you mean then? They've got 10 men behind the ball should we deploy even more defenders and go with 4 at the back? Surely that's a more defensive line-up, would it not be better to flood the midfield to prevent them taking hold of the game in the way that Peterhead did so successfully last week?
McKay was given motm because he was a young player breaking into the team. Not because he was particularly good in that game. He’s not strong enough or physical enough to be a centre half.
When I said we will play a back four, instead of a back three, what I should have said was a back five. Why on earth would you play three centre halves at home to Stranraer who will have one up front on his own? You play two at centre half and push the full backs up the park.0 -
Have the people calling for Dave McKay to get a start actually seen him play? I don’t like slating young players but neither he or Watson are going to be good enough and I suspect both will leave at the end of the season.
I don’t see us playing a back three tomorrow against a team who will almost certainly have ten men behind the ball.0 -
Brilliant story that! Remember it well! He would have done some damage down Jackie-o’s back in those days!

Drop Bowie until his first touch stays within a 70cm radius
Bit harsh. Wouldn’t say his touch is any worse than what we currently have. Who would you play ahead of him at the moment though? Baird?0 -
I can only assume that Munro will be away in Jan as we won’t want three keepers. The logic might be that he’s maybe not wanting to play him as he wants his back line to be settled.

I'm maybe a mile off, but Tony Dingwall must have the worst win percentage of anyone at the club.
He’ll be stacking shelves in Tesco in a year or two.0

Yeah, there was so much flair and class in that side that a player like Ally Graham was always going to stand out for the wrong reasons. You tend not to appreciate a player that does the ugly side!
As an aside, the song that was sung about him when he left for Falkirk and they got relegated was genius! To the tune of Don’t look back in anger by Oasis...
Sooooo Ally can’t wait, he knows it’s too late cause they’re going on down...
I’m so glad to say, and don’t come back you w****r, I heard you say!
