  1. Nothing to apologise for BB. A sensible, well thought out post.
  2. That is my main concern too. Losing Carrick and/or Thomson would, I think, cause us a problem. I've always felt more comfortable with having 4 forwards too. Danny Burns seems to be the only obvious replacement for those 2. Not complaining though, given most teams are likely to struggle a bit when their first 11 aren't available.
  3. Wouldn't say excited, but we do seem to be improving as the season progresses, which is always a good sign. Apart from a couple of areas, we do also have a decent depth to our squad, which bodes well for when injuries and suspensions kick in. Quietly optimistic I'd say.
  4. Cheers, pure laziness on my part. Thought it was written in the 50's off the top of my head, so hedged my bets. Should have checked. Looking forward to reading Farewell My Lovely soon.
  5. The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler You can still feel the influence in today's detective stories. The hard bitten, cynical private eye surrounded by a cast of unsavoury characters led the way in the genre. The writing still feels fresh to me after over 50 years, the one liners made me laugh out loud. It was a delight from start to finish.
  6. Everybody catching their breath after the shitshow between the 2 boards. On the playing front, the team aren't giving us anything to be too excited or too despondent about. I'm waiting for something fairly meaningful to happen, but can see us floating about between 3rd and 9th in the league at different times during the season. In other words it's all a bit meh at the moment.
  7. Lorri Graham and Grant Morrice have also stepped down from the Club Board. In better news, we've signed Kai Fotheringham from Dundee United on loan until January.
  8. Wasn't expecting anything to come out of the shareholders meeting yesterday. The Trust Board put forward proposals for mediation between it and the Club Board, suspending their intention to remove the 3 club directors of the Club Board if they agreed to enter into discussions on the proposals. Those proposals seemed quite comprehensive to me and were only sent out a week ago. The fact we haven't heard anything (as far as I'm aware) suggests to me that the proposals haven't been dismissed out of hand, and is perhaps a sign that the 2 sides are talking. Don't know why Colin Rowley resigned, and the Trust Board would, I imagine, be able to resubmit a resolution to remove the existing Club directors if they felt the circumstances warranted it.
  9. According to Rhliston's original post on the previous page, the only vote will be on the 2nd resolution to hold an AGM.
  10. It does thanks if my understanding is right. Basically, because the shareholders meeting had an existing resolution to oust the club directors, there can't be a trust members resolution to not oust the club directors.
  11. Can you advise why the vote was deemed legally invalid?
  12. Was in the Observer 2 or 3 weeks ago that he was starting training that week after having had an operation (perhaps on the foot the East Fife guys mention).
  13. Yeah, good shout WC, a creative midfielder and another striker probably best if we're adding another 2.
  14. We've got 6 players who can play CH : McGeachie, McLean, McGregor, Cummins, Greenhorn, and Clark can play left CB if needed. Agree midfield is the priority. Think we've got 18 of a squad and the manager had said he was looking for 20 a while back, so another couple to come in seems about right based on that. Reading other clubs' threads, it seems as if there are quite a lot of players who are hedging their bets. We may have contract offers on the table, and are waiting for replies.
  15. And parliament will sanction a referendum when there's an issue of particular importance to be decided.
  16. Cheers, appreciate the reply. It does make sense that the Trust Board, as voted for by the members (I assume) are empowered to make decisions on behalf of the members. If I'm reading this correctly, the members of the Trust will eventually be given the right to vote on who becomes Club Board appointees. Given that the make up of the Club Board will determine the future direction of Stirling Albion, that's good to know that all interested parties have a say. What I can't get my head round is why there needs to be anything done before the members and shareholders have that vote. Perhaps someone would be good enough to explain that. I would have liked to have seen an open forum where the issues that have been causing problems could be aired, and anyone interested in being on the Club Board could put forward their reasons for doing so. That may have helped push the reset button, though, reading between the lines, things have probably gone beyond that point. I'm really not sure removing the 3 directors is going to solve the problems, but time will tell .
  17. I'm probably being naive here, but isn't the Supporters Trust the main shareholder? On that basis, why aren't the members of the Trust allowed to attend and vote?
  18. Thanks for that, what you're saying seems like sensible measures, though the devil would be in the detail as far as the governance protocols and revised Articles are concerned. I was surprised when I had heard the Club board directors didn't need to stand for re-election. If that had been in place, some of the issues we're currently having may not have arisen or been as bad. Excuse my ignorance, but I hope and assume that Trust board members also need to put themselves up for re-election. I for one would like to see more accountability and transparency across the board (no pun intended).
  19. Seems to me that the Trust membership should be involved in the discussion of who ultimately runs the club on a day to day basis. It's too important for either the Club board or the Trust board to impose their will as far as they are able to do so.
  20. Likewise I'm no expert, but did a course several years ago, part of which dealt with UK and EU law. My memory is that UK law needed to be interpreted based on a strict view of the wording, whereas EU law was to be looked at using the intention behind the reason for the law.
  21. The manager was quoted as saying we've missed out on a couple of targets. Don't know the reasons of course, and it's not unusual for that to happen. I take the point about players perhaps not bothering about off field issues, but I wonder if agents may influence them a bit. If some off field shitfest happens that affects a team's performance, players' reputations can take a hit. It seems there are fewer players available this close season, so reasonable players may have a better choice, and our issues may make us less appealing. That, and the fact we've been dugmeat for ages of course. Having said all that, Leagues 1 and 2 transfer activity feels as if it's been a bit slow. Maybe a good few players are hedging their bets still, and we'll get a couple of gems in soon.
  22. Ross Davidson has just been given the all clear to start training after an operation. Looks like it could be a while before we see him. Agree with your comments about a playmaker. Think we're short of a couple of creative players atm.
  23. What makes you rule out the possibility? At this stage there's no team you could point at and say they'll be cast adrift the way Cowden were last season. We avoided finishing 9th by a bawhair, and imo haven't strengthened much so far. Most fans expect there to be not much between the teams, so, given our indifferent performances in the last few seasons and our off field shenanigans, I don't think it's much of a push to predict us finishing bottom.
  24. Or the ones who indicate left and don't take the 1st exit. Bugger all idea what the hell they're doing.
