  1. Didn't see the interview so can't comment on what the interviewees said, but your points are spot on. I'm on the shielding list, and have adjusted what I do slightly, mainly doing my shopping early in the morning. I do the occasional LFT test in case I'm asymptomatic. I know that, if I catch covid, I have a contact number to ensure I get the anti virals as quickly as possible to give me the greatest chance of not getting seriously ill. In short, there's plenty of stuff there to give you the best protection you can get. The disabled are discriminated against in many ways, but the lifting of restrictions is not one of them, and protesting against them does their cause no good.
  2. Predicting anything in League 2 isn't something you can do with any degree of certainty, but fwiw: Kelty to win the league. Can't see them being put under much pressure. Forfar and Annan for the playoffs. They've been consistent enough over the season, and seem to bounce back from any sticky periods. The final play off spot appears at present to be between Edinburgh and Stenny. Of the 2, I get the feeling Stenny are a bit more solid at the moment, so would tip them to make it. There are 2 or 3 teams who could come into contention if they can put a good consistent run together, but there's nothing to suggest that's going to happen. I think Cowden are just a bit too far behind to get away from 10th, but a run of say 7 points from 4 games over the next month or so could give them a fighting chance. Elgin are obviously on a really poor run, and, if that continues, they could well be in bother. The same applies to Albion Rovers and ourselves. The 10 team leagues get a fair bit of criticism, but, as usual, most teams have something to play for over the run in.
  3. Hope you enjoy the game Oberon. Welcome to the Binos. Wind and rain should be a leveller. Gives us a chance
  4. It was quite clearly explained by the judge why he considered it wasn't consensual in his opinion. Goodwillie has every right not to agree with the judge's opinion, but it would have done him some good to acknowledge the reasoning behind the judge's decision, or at least show some empathy towards womens' right to give informed consent. That could have been done without him explicitly apologising.
  5. Excellent post, and imo a very fair summary of where we are. Feel for Oberon 43 and fellow Raith fans, while applauding their principled stance. Having read the civil court case proceedings, I have no consideration or sympathy for Goodwillie and would be happy if the reaction forces him out of football for good.
  6. Amazing effort by Raducanu. She's been struggling with a blister on her racket hand. Her serve basically just got the point started and her forehands were mostly slices and drop shots because she couldn't get any power on that wing. She showed a lot of tactical nous to try and cope with the liability. Augurs well for her going forward, disappointing though it was to go out.
  7. Mmmm looks like a bungled job to me. By George, I think you're right.
  8. Thank you. Life was particularly hard (for everyone) at the start of the pandemic, and I was basically a prisoner in my house until August 2020, when the rules for those in the at risk category were eased somewhat. From that point on my life has been made so much less stressful by the majority of others being careful and mostly following the restrictions whether they agreed with them or not. I agree that we're pretty much at the point where I think life should get back to where we were pre pandemic. Recently received a letter about treatment that, provided you know early enough, can prevent covid causing serious illness. There will always be some who fall through the cracks, including possibly myself, but that shouldn't imo now impinge on the majority getting their freedoms fully back.
  9. We've signed a left sided central defender on loan from Aberdeen - Mason Hancock
  10. Don't go in to any game with any confidence these days, given the run we're on. Reminds me of that time we went 14? games without a goal. We've gone from being mean in defence and always likely to score to being likely to concede and struggling to score. It will turn some time, just got to hope it's soon.
  11. Can't think of a treble pedant alert! Agree with you about the Bachman stories. Given they've made films out of Thinner and The Running Man (and probably others), it's a shame the best of the lot in The Long Walk hasn't been adapted so far. Maybe it's best left solely in its' written form. As an aside I believe King killed off Bachman in The Dark Half, which was quite an odd, but enjoyable, book.
  12. Pedant alert The Running Man was a Richard Bachman effort by King. Agree it was a very entertaining film.
  13. Misery Arguably the best Stephen King adaptation. Looks a bit dated now, but a masterclass in acting from Kathy Bates. She's childlike, normal and a monster at different times and convincing at them all. Thought James Caan did a good job too.
  14. We apparently tried to get this game postponed. We only have 10 fit outfield players plus 2 goalies. Request turned down because we have an under 20s team! Could be an interesting line-up. Maybe adversity will work in our favour.
  15. Thanks for that, makes our situation much clearer.
  16. John Daly, in his latest newsletter on the official site, said the Trust Board turned down possible investment because it's not allowed by the constitution. Would quite appreciate some clarification on this.
  17. Think Banner needs to be played. Wouldn't do much for his confidence if we played a midfielder instead of him. Think the question is where KR thinks Rovers are strongest and play McGeachie in the position to counteract that, whether RB or centre of defence. Banner then plays the other position. Not ideal of course, but maybe the best we can do in the circumstances. Hoping Paul McLean comes back sooner rather than later.
  18. Cheers, think we'll really need him in the centre of defence though.
  19. Good shout. Creaney may well be the least worst option.
  20. Looks like we'll be missing most of our defence. McGregor is banned; McNiff is injured; and Leo Watson is on Scotland duty. Banner will presumably come in with McGeachie and Cummins. No idea who can play left back if we stick with a back 4. Would take a point.
  21. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton Protaganist wakes up in another person's body at a dilapidated country house full of fairly obnoxious characters. He needs to solve the mystery of who kills Evelyn Hardcastle at 11p.m. in order to be allowed to leave. He changes host bodies every day while he's trying to find the answer, and poor old Evelyn dies 7 times at 11p.m. while he builds up the evidence. I wondered at times whether this was an allegory of some sort, but the author says he was inspired by being given Agatha Christie novels as a child, so should be read simply as a murder mystery (with a bit of time and body travelling thrown in). Found it all a bit messy and a bit confusing at times. Would possibly be a better read second time around, but doubt if I could be arsed doing that.
  22. Yeah, seems to be covered by the "Obstruction of Highway" Act. Think the policeman must have been giving an example of what might constitute an "unlawful" obstruction.
  23. I remember a policeman saying the law states there must be room for a double buggy to pass any parked vehicles on a pavement. Don't know if that's right or not, but makes sense. Presumably not enforced anywhere.
  24. Cyril Smith was the most rotund of them all I think. Can't say his shape would be the first thing I'd be having a go at him for.
  25. Can't remember who said it, but my favourite is "Politics is far too important to be left to politicians".
