  1. No need for a winter break, as there will be a few p-p games over the winter, plus bad weather could stretch into February at times. International breaks just as stupid, should only be clubs with players on duty tbh. Midweek games Aug/Sept could help, plus too many various cup(s) across all levels of Scottish football.

  2. What would happen if every player tried to 'strip' another player - come on ref, it's a coming together and the other ref & var said I could do it 😈 Offside where your nasal hair is offside, handball should be hand to ball, like it used to be. Can I do some var games please and are they well paid ?

  3. Festive frolic ends back at Twerton Park for Bath City 0 Chippenham 0 att 2495. £16 prog £3 .Dismal 1st half, the hosts having the better chances in the 2nd, but always open to the counter attack. Just one point, possession football isn't the only way to play ! Even at this level, find it damn boring. 20240101_1800332.thumb.jpg.76906828b3ebc14fcf3d57faba5809bc.jpg

  4. Clach 0 Nairn 1 fair result as the visitors adapted to the windy conditions better, keeping the ball down. Tidy finish by Maclean i think, reacting well. I expected more from the Lilywhites playing down slope and with the wind 2nd half - apart from rattling the bar, they offered little, really poor in pushing forward. Seemed a decent crowd on such a miserable night.20231122_222009.thumb.jpg.09fdfe29b867ddd3b43f4d05e38cede7.jpg20231122_222009.thumb.jpg.09fdfe29b867ddd3b43f4d05e38cede7.jpg

  5. Back at Borough Briggs : Elgin 1 Forfar 0 att 417. Despite Robert Jones seeing his pen saved, the hosts didnt need the 2nd goal as although Forfar laid siege in the 2nd half, they only forced  3 or 4 saves, and wasted other half chances.Their final ball often over hit or misplaced, whilst Elgin relied on the odd breakaway. 20231121_214954.thumb.jpg.24237c6e95c8ab45da61187b0898a77d.jpg20231121_211336.thumb.jpg.68705435a76c6aedaca874a8cd362595.jpg

  6. Bught Park for Highland under 18's : Clach 1 Lossie 2 att 50+ and a few dogs. Decent game with plenty of youthful energy see's 01 shot goes through the gk hands. 11 tap in after gk spills a shot. 12 'Noah' cuts in from left and arrows a shot into far corner - then a celebratory slide in front of opposing dug-out/ subs , resulting in 2nd yellow. Lossie already down to ten men after harsh red as player slid into a tackle (good challenge in my day) Some decent players on show.20231119_132352.thumb.jpg.fd77d2e3bafea8df6eeeee332dfdb9ac.jpg

Headed down to Newcastle today as there was a choice of several games on. Bit most were cancelled this morning which left me with two choices. Hebburn Town V Grimsby Borough or South Shields V Tamworth. I plumped for the National League North game at South Shields as it was a top of the table clash (I did stop of at Hebburn though and buy a programme)

South Shields play about 20 minutes south of Newcastle City centre and Bede is the nearest metro stop. Ticket was £14 standing or £16 seated. Programmes £3.

Tamworth were top before the start of the day with South Shields in 3rd. I expected a tight game and that's what the 2309 fans got in the first half as there was few chances. The home side had the best of these as a long ball found their Number 9, he beat the defence and rounded the keeper, but his shot hit the post and was hoofed clear by the Tamworth defence. Tamworth then controlled the rest of the first half but only really created half chances. The Teams went in at half time goalless. The second half started at a greater pace as South Shields forced the Tamworth keeping a good save seconds after the restart after Mongoy . The home side must have been given a rocket at half time because they were fired up at the start of the half. They took the lead on 58 minutes when number 7 sent in a deep cross from the right. Mongoy (who had a shocking first half) rose high and bulleted a header home to give Shields the lead.

The match opened up as Tamworth went for an equaliser but only really created half chances as both the hime and away defence through themselves into every tackle and shot. South Shields managed to see the game out. An entertaining match with some good football and a very good atmosphere between the supporters if both teams.

South Shields have a good set up and plenty of food and beer options with a fanzine inside the ground.

20231104_143722.jpgExcellent, spent 6-7 weeks in the Shields when I did the Northern League, first seeing the Mariner's at Peterlee and watched the club prosper. Hopefully any new owner will continue the good work and lead them into the EFL.

  8. Another derby game in the Gloucestershire County Lge: Almondsbury (relegated from Western last season) v Little Stoke - around 1 mile between the clubs. Almonds 4 L.Stoke 6 att 50+  some bad errors in the relentless rain, 14 ht became 2-4 and 2-6 before two late goals added some credit to the scoreline. Entertainment yes but lacking quality20231028_153714.thumb.jpg.18914e49245b90af4f8f3411c851f9b1.jpgchrome_screenshot_1698513772296.thumb.png.f3a8426bb9a55fa3841d62628e5e8807.png in defensive areas, luckily I stayed dry until the end !

  9. Going by things around Bristol : don't think youngsters can commit to playing 20-30 weeks anymore - the closure of pubs show a change in their lifestyles too - maybe some will work on Saturday so why not play on Sunday ? The costs have risen, but possibly the behind the scenes work done by the secretary etc isn't being shared around enough. When the older guy's die off, someone needs to step up and help. Maybe players are taking the jump into the WOS and EOS to play now, and possibly earn some £ along the way. The pool of players has definitely shrunk lately.

  10. Realise that there were rescheduled games - i meant the Clach A side in the North Caledonian Lge ⚽️  Dependant on work & weather i maybe back in November - my last visit of the season 😒
