  1. Glos County League : Chalford (who won the Glos Northern Lge and a play off last season ) v Almondsbury. Hard to find venue with my eyesight, but a friendly club(house) and set up for this level.£2 prog. 1-1 ft att 124.A game of two halves,Almonds waking up after bringing the subs on to level late on.After the hosts had a 'sin bin' around 75,they pushed for the winner to no avail.Enjoyable game however.
  2. Western Lge : Cadbury Heath 3 Keynsham 0 comfortable win for the Heathens, and should have been a bigger margin but for wayward finishing. The 'Ks' kept going, but lightweight up front, wasting a glorious chance to level in 2nd half.
  3. Hellenic Lge at Hardwicke P.F for Tytherington Rocks 2 Stonehouse 1 att probs 50+ An excellent break from inside their own half for 01, but then two clangers from the keeper, who dropped crosses in the box resulting in goals.21. Rocks had a great chance to seal it,but the pen flew way into the trees behind the goal.Late pressure almost drew the visitors level, Inc a last minute diving save.
  4. FA Vase at MoorHouse Lane : Hallen 2 Portishead 2 (pens 1-3) All looked over as the visitors went 20 up , but hosts got back 12 and then see a penalty saved. A better tempo 2nd half saw them level 22 and it was straight to penalties. Some good saves whilst some flew miles over the bar, but a decent game.
  5. FA Cup at the Lawns : Cribbs 2 Roman Glass St George 0 goal in each half enough to progress into next round of the Emirates. Bit niggly with both benches not helping the under pressure ref & lino's. RG had possession but seldom tested the home gk.
  6. My week ends at the Haughs for the Highland Lge : Turriff v Lossiemouth 10 ft. Destined for a bore draw until the subs appear, the lively Turra winger Timi Fatona making the difference. After beating the defender he passed across for McKeown to slot home in injury time, joy for the home fans. Both sides didn't create much tbh, scrappy at times,0-0 probably the likely outcome.Liked ground and the showground (rugby) across the road - and the bus arrived on time.
  7. Buckie 1 Fraserburgh 3. im guessing most of last season's champions side have left, otherwise a really poor performance. Both sides constantly gave the ball away, the Jags under threat from a ball over the top - the Broch when Buckie put passes together and moved around (rarely). Deserved victory and the margin should have been bigger, with chances missed in 2nd half. Nice ground and decent crowd.
  8. To be fair they looked like say, under 16/18 just stepping up into adult football.(From the Aberdeen Leagues I think)They were a bit naive though some got stuck in, tried to play some good stuff. They'll get some reward during the season.
  9. Yeah I know, not Cutler ! Spell checker too fast for me.
  10. Bit of a romp at Crombie Park in the Grill Lge Cup : Cutler 5 Westdyke 0. Battling visitors couldn't hold out despite brave defending throughout, some decent stuff by both sides.Cracking goals in the 2nd half told the difference, enjoyable game.Good pies too !
  11. Thought Cove were tidy, but over did the possession style game, thus the few shots created. The sub no.22 brought some life and progress down the right, worth sticking with. Bit of confusion at the back at times, but no panic stations... Annan the greater threat, worth the victory id say.
  12. Not random because my trip to Balmoral for Cove 1 Annan 3 (att 452) sees me finally complete the spfl 42 ! Annan the greater threat and should have gone in ahead at ht.A better 2nd half saw it go 01/02/12/13. Cove tidy but lifeless up front, only woke up last ten mins. Not a bad ground, inc a decent away following of 50+ Annan fans.
  13. BBS Stadium for the hosts 1st home game in the Western Lge following promotion from the Somerset. Mendip Broadwalk 2 Cribbs Reserves 1 a late pen seals the win for the 'Dip, who are settling into the higher standard well. A decent game, and an ever improving ground. Clubhouse upstairs, covered area and base for a stand on opposite side. Lack of photos due to phone battery dying.
  14. Western League kicks off at Winterfield Road : Paulton Rovers, relegated from the Southern Lge, v Nailsea & Twickenham. At 20 the newly put together hosts looked good for the win. However a lucky pen and a shot from edge of box makes it 22, before injury time drama as an effort rebounds off the bar to be nodded home for 32. Att around 150+ and £8 with prog £2.
  15. Horfield Old Boys (suburban lge) on sat and the Anchor Hotel (Regional) on sun. Both folded by the 2000's sadly.
  16. Seen this in the Bristol area where leagues were decimated & some folded, sign of the times I guess. Seems like the travelling is an issue, lack of players & costs too ? Good luck to those clubs that remain.
  17. Proves that the English players are made to look better at club level, because of the talented passing and movement of the foreign players alongside them. They look tired- just play the English way, quicker. Wouldn't surprise me if it goes to pens.
  18. Anyone know when the junior lge fixtures are being released ? Hoping to squeeze some games into my week away
  19. Usually a selfish point of view as I look to have loads of games on my holidays ! Probably stems from being used to having games every day down south - and set in my ways.
  20. Usual complaint from me, in that there is usually many p-p games during the winter - why no midweek games in the so called professional league ? Not to worry, slowly sorting my holiday Aug 3-10 staying in Aberdeen.
  21. The so called presenters show why I don't turn on until kick off - looking at the line up it seems the idea is to stay in the game as long as possible - then gung ho if need be. Wouldn't expect anything adventurous, just hope the Scots can score two somehow. Out of interest, I believe that every level below 'world class' has slumped the past 20-30 years.(Not just Scotland)
