  1. Poetry. Pure poetry. It was worth a full day of baldy comb fisticuffs to reach that point.
  2. I'm beginning to feel my innate down-to-earth friendliness wearing off. Let me see if I can get the hang of it: (Cold voice, no eye contact) "You'll hev hed your tea". Is that it?
  3. Think this film is 2nd in the boomer Male list. To assist the youngsters: Theres this superhero dude called Spartacus who, like, thinks he's fighting the Evil Empire of The Bosche in this, like, dystopian world. Or some shit. Then he realizes that the evil wizards who run his home planet are bad guys too. Can civilisation, like, survive? Theres also explosions and cool uniforms. Dudes get shot and you see everything!
  4. Is this a common perception amongst P&Bers from out with Lanarkshire? I dont think it's that bad actually. In addition, along with our Ayrshire neighbours, we are the friendliest and most down-to-earth people in the country (for reasons of technical accuracy I exclude Bothwell).
  5. Paul Wilson had arty aspirations. He always seemed a cool guy. Lots of love for Barbara Streisand and relaxing at home with the wife in general. Bobby Smith goes for carbonara as his favourite dinner, probably pretty cutting edge at the time. These are excellent
  6. Unless they're changed the timetable, you used to get the train terminating at Motherwell, which would then become the train to Glasgow going to Bel... Sorry, I just lost the will to live there.
  7. Interesting responses. Iain Munro likes Glenda Jackson whereas Tommy is a man after my own heart by going for Victoria Principal (if you want to google her, include "1970s" in the search, it gets a bit scary later on). Best sense of humour: Robert Prytz claiming to be 11st. And nominating John McLelland in his all-time best eleven.
  8. Simple solution: stay on the train and get off at Scotland's best town, Hamilton. You'll have a much better time, with lovely people.
  9. Possibly. One who maybe comes close is Evan Williams who played 1 game for Stranraer in 75-76 season.
  10. Youd be surprised at people's levels of expectation now. On cleanliness, vandalism, litter, quality of info and service etc. - Scotrail get fined if they dont come up to scratch. As for artwork, the sheer imagination of the graffiti was often magnificently deranged. I recall a well executed mural of elephants making sweet love on the Cathcart Circle.
  11. Some of the rail infrastructure in England north of Birmingham is shockingly bad. For all the really hurtful comments about beautiful Lanarkshire, we in Scotland are pretty well served in comparison. Rather too well served in places (Inverclyde )
  12. Classic 70s answers from hard man Drew Busby. Likes roast beef (it's usually steak and chips so fair play), Wings and Morecambe & Wise. Nice kit too. Hopefully Drew Jarvie answered "Drew Busby" to the best friend question. Any more of these?
  13. Yes, Paisley St James. Sounds rather grand. If they'd called it Ferguslie Park nobody would ever get off though.
  14. The brass neck industry was closed by Thatcher in the 80s. Show some sensitivity you scoundrel
  15. In a previous job I had to visit every station in the Strathclyde area and confirm that it is certainly a contender. Others include: Shotts IBM (almost all in Inverclyde) Renton Off the top of my head, but basically hunnerz.
  16. Indeed, that has become a regular occurrence and is due to happen again in a few weeks time. Nothing to see here.
  17. Only saw the highlights, so obviously not an accurate depiction. But i'm pleased Mimnaugh is back. I liked him before and didn't understand why he was left out all last season. He seems to have filled out a bit and it looks like with him we will finally have someone who can take a decent corner or indirect free kick.
  18. You were spot on, mate. But dont worry, Motherwell will still be fine.
  19. My best pal is a Well man and on Saturday nights we usually exchange some light-hearted text chat - about football and life in general. I think I'll leave him in peace till tomorrow.
  20. Rudyard Lanyard was on Radio Scotland this morning. Predictable soft line of questioning. Despite that, he still failed to to provide an answer to the perfectly reasonable question in this thread's title.
  21. Probably belongs on the NSFW forum, but any excuse for this baws oot classic.
