I'm tempted to pop in on my way home now. Random sports on the telly. Some tearful country and western on the jukebox. A Glaswegian Barney Gumble discussing the Suez Crisis with a bewildered French tourist, who is silently regretting leaving Edinburgh for the day. Or alternatively I might just go straight home

Been there, mate. The parents were junkies/alkies as well. I dont have any advice or smart arse comments, just sympathy for your situation. -

Once you've been married for years and had a couple of kids, you'd be no worse off as a eunoch anyway. Apparently. Some guy in the pub told me. -
I know smoking seems a ridiculous thing to do for those who have never done it. But the psychology of the addiction is very powerful. Keith Richard's says it is easier to give up heroin. And he would know. I gave up 20 years ago but the urge for a fag with a drink is still there. I don't think it will ever go away. So, kids, don't ever start. Ever. I did a lot of daft shit as a youngster but that was the worst.

Was it John Taylor? I vaguely remember it.

Another hypothesis. It could all just drift along into stasis. No UK govt wants to have "losing" Scotland on its tombstone. They're not going to offer a referendum knowing they could lose. Sturgeon and SNP leadership are very cautious and couldn't survive losing a referendum. In this scenario it suits both parties for the Scottish Govt to be perceived as operating as a semi- autonomous entity, with the odd flare up to throw some red meat to their supporters. Nothing too risky though. This could go on indefinitely until the SNP implode or something big happens externally.

It's possible, but being Scottish and a lesbian, might have narrowed down the number of available safe seats. But, as you say, probably too much like hard work. From what I can make of her CV, shes actually done very little actual work in her life , if you discount photo ops and looking staunch on telly.

This is it for me. What is the realistic ceiling for a Tory MSP? Especially with support for independence rising. It's a lifetime gig in the Lords, a title, a few directorships at Tory friendly corporates and a lucrative sideline as a tv personality/house trained jock. When you think of actual tangible achievements you can attribute to her though, what are they? Even I've contributed more to society, and that's saying something.
