I think it’s fair to say they’ve never had more strength in depth under him than they do now. Helped by the likes of Bradley / Quansah / Doak / Clark coming through. Jones and Elliot pushing on so well. Kelleher as back up rather than Mignolet / Adrian. The Champions League / Premier League winning side of 2018-19 / 2019-20 it was pretty much Mane / Firmino / Salah with Origi / Shaqiri coming in. This season it has been pretty much any one of 5 in forward positions. All are in double figures for the season. Gakpo has lost form though recently and Jota injured.

He already got his mitts on the League Cup so no diddly squat. I don’t know any Liverpool supporters who were expecting a quadruple but that sure was a sore one today. Should have had the game out of sight but only got themselves to blame.

Both goals entirely avoidable and the winner 30 seconds after they had a shot cleared off the line. Once behind never really looked like scoring.

Putting all the Sky hype aside it was a brilliant game of football. Despite so many players out Liverpool should have won it. All the talksport / click bait sites etc will get into action focussing on the non award of the late penalty but as someone posted above Liverpool should have stuck the ball in the net and discussed it after. The home side opened the scoring (32) after a pretty even start just before Vale were then reduced to 10 men (34) for a handball which stopped a through ball behind the defence. Vale had chances despite being a man down but only got as close as hitting the post before Ormiston sealed it with 9 minutes to go. The visitors ended it with 9 men. Crowd 48.

Heart of Midlothian B 2-1 Albion Rovers (1-0 HT) @ Ainslie Park Stadium . Lowland League. Great game . Hearts ahead after just 3 minutes but Rovers recovered well and equalised from the spot. Hearts saw a penalty saved but did make it 2-1 shortly after and won. Crowd 259.

You should try and buy a property in the area. On the talk of Liverpool’s spending throughout Klopp’s reign he has consistently bought players below the top price bracket and made them into stars. Salah, Mane - Robertson, Wijnaldum both relegated - Jota, Matip (free), Gakpo, Elliott … it’s a long list. Albeit he did sign Van Dijk and Alisson for top money but he did raise £140 million through selling Coutinho to fund it. He gets paid £16 million a year so let’s not kid on it’s a fairytale but I’m struggling to think of a better all round job done at the top end of English / maybe European football in the last 10 - 20 years. Throw in £15 million Endo up against Caicedo / Enzo both £100 million + and their £1.2 billion spend. Liverpools 9/10 injuries.
