I’m glad we’ve done some early business that will allow him to come in and find his feet during our winter training camp. Maybe even an appearance against Killie prior to the winter break as opposed to scrapping around last minute in the window like we often do.

Certainly not in January, but in the summer, maybe. I mean, we reportedly paid £5m+ for Danilo. Saying that closer to £10m for Shankland is unrealistic is not the same as saying we could afford him.

While Kyogo has been honking, his record in these matches speaks for itself so I doubt it will be too much of a concern. I’d be much more confident if I knew if Goldson was making the game but hoping for another Kyogo off day.

And on the flip side, there are Celtic fan media accounts who originally stated Celtic were interested now distancing themselves from it, claiming the club were never after him in the first place. I suppose that could all change quite quickly though.

While you can’t argue with his record, I think Rodgers has lost that air of superiority he once had at Celtic his first time round. He has taken Celtic backwards from Postecoglou and his team looks very fragile.

I think Celtic would be silly to overlook someone playing well in Scotland given the way they were stung over the McGinn penny-pinching.

I’m unsure what shape we will be in for this with last nights match being postponed. Aside from our long term absentees, we don’t know if Goldson will make it and that’s a worry considering how good our defence has been this season. Similarly, doubts remain over Lundstram and Cifuentes’ fitness so it may need to be Sterling and Dowell again in midfield, while Barasic missed Motherwell so I’m unsure if he will be back. I think Celtic can be got at, and while they’ve won their last two, they’ve seemed really wasteful and have taken a while to score in each of them. Our wide attacking areas is where we will have the best chance, IMO. McCausland has looked jaded the last few games so it might be wise to bring in Matondo to run at Taylor who is by far Celtic’s biggest weakness. Then on the other side we have Sima who’s central runs could cause problems. We will be in an outstanding position if we manage to pick up a win, 2 points behind with 2 games in hand. On the flip side, a defeat would see the gap back to 8. 1-1.

Certainly this season it appears we have got very little value for money from our summer signings after a relative high spend. I think that would also be the case if we were to pay £5m+ for Shankland as some people suggest.

Ewen Cameron v Chris Sutton can only end badly for both of them.

Nobody is going to pay £7/8m for him, let alone Rangers. I agree we can’t afford him. He is worth a lot of money to Hearts.

I don’t think many Rangers fans would expect to get Shankland on the cheap. He is absolutely lethal, a player really carrying a side right now. I actually agree that we probably can’t afford him, but to suggest a price tag of £10m is very wishful thinking, IMO.

Aye, that’s true. I think at this point I’d rather the game is off tonight even if it means some extra congestion further down the line just with the players we currently have missing. Hopefully by then we will have a few back.
