  1. I’m not at the game today but I’m delighted that Hilson’s playing well. I would be over the moon if he finally fulfilled his potential. It was always the same with LD too, both players with obvious ability. However, you can’t deny that Shanks is a bigger goal threat than Hilson.
  2. Yeah, that’s what I said, hardly a “wee hoor of a pitch” though. Gayfield has a larger playing surface than Pittodrie, Tynecastle, Dens, Tannadice, Starks Park, Somerset Park, Cappielow etc etc etc.
  3. What is it with folk thinking Gayfield has a small playing surface? It’s bigger than several in the Championship and Premiership and is almost the same size as Firhill - same length, slightly narrower.
  4. Honestly, Hilson before Shanks????? Yet again no goal threat in the starting 11.
  5. Couldn’t agree more. I can’t make today but all I want is an energetic, attacking performance and to look at the match stats and see a lot of attempts on goal.
  6. I like guys like Craigen and Gold, good players with a lot of versatility. However, neither of them (and others) are going to get a huge amount of game time at this level unless covering for injury or suspension. Some seem to be happy with that, others not so. Sad to see him go, he gave us one of the best moments in our club’s history but, ironically, if we had held on that night and gone up he would have been away from the club by now anyway.
  7. Could be the making of him. He’s certainly got the natural attributes. obviously dick wanted to ease him in but there’s no choice now.
  8. I guess on the whole it may not be too bad - the midfield is definitely in a better place and the young RB may prove to be a fantastic signing. If we had signed a decent forward option then things would be looking a lot more rosy.
  9. Massive feeling of disappointment at the moment. The fans have given the club huge backing and this is the best they could do? Punt four signed players and replace them with one signing, one season long and two short term loans? Happy with Allen and Tait but a kid at right back, and a guy who wasn’t nearly good enough to be offered a deal by RR and was last playing in the Icelandic second tier isn’t exactly scintillating stuff. Fingers crossed for another name or two.
  10. Any possibility of anyone else coming in today. I don’t like that 4 signed players have left to be replaced by 1 signing, 1 season long and 2 short term loans.
  11. Feck me. Got to start Shanks on Saturday now then and see what he’s made of. It’ll be probably be Hilson though.
  12. Oh Jesus. So the one position we desperately needed to strengthen is now no stronger than it was last week. A big risk going down the English route as you could easily see this happening. It would be a missive upheaval for a young guy coming up here. Only option I can see now is that we push McKenna up as an out-and-out striker. Unless he’s out long-term injured as someone said in an earlier post.
  13. Anyone else getting very worried about who else might be going? Definitely a few others with poor body language and not looking happy this season.
  14. Even if we bring in a few more to replace those leaving, it’s surely going to take time for them to gel. Could have half a team on Saturday who’ve never played together. Match fitness surely an issue too.
  15. No idea but it feels a little bit like the same panic buy scenario. Obviously have to give the guy a chance but not overly excited by this one.
  16. That’s it - get a kit custom made to fit and throw big Rab up front.
  17. Yeah, we’ll what makes me obsessed with Donnelly? Because I’ve stated a few times that I would have loved him to have been more prolific? Isn’t that a given that we all want a striker that can, you know, actually put the ball in the fecking net?!?
  18. So you don’t want us to sign a striker who’s more of a threat than your hero?
  19. Got to give Isiaka a chance before we get too critical. He might have been impressive in training and must be a better goal scoring option than Donnelly.
  20. Don’t like the short term loans. Just means we have to go through all of this again in a few months.
  21. I must admit I was sceptical when we signed him as I thought he was finished but he has been (mostly) fantastic.
  22. JT was brilliant for us. He’ll be missed and I’m very sad to see him go but it’s understandable. The defence has struggled this season and an injection of youth is no bad thing.
  23. David Goodwille and Leigh Griffiths spotted buying mock chop suppers in Marcos earlier.
  24. You mean full-time AFC Fylde who probably pay higher wages than most teams in the Scottish Championship?
