  1. I didn’t make the match yesterday but watching the highlights it’s the same old story. Absolutely criminal defending that you think can’t get worse and inevitably does in the next match. I agree with 99% of your post and Loudon and Woods start in the back four for me. The other youngster that featured against Beith (O’Brien) didn’t look out of place but is it asking too much of inexperienced young players to save the season? Boland is liable to take a flaky at any given moment and Mark Miller isn’t the answer in defence BUT is a better bet than Aldin who we are stuck with for another year at £250 per week, apparently.
  2. I can’t disagree. Away against Pollok it could have been seven if Ally hadn’t pulled off a few top saves. Arthurlie would have been out of sight at half time if it wasn’t for him, too. Judging by the post-match interviews, maybe a few home truths told in the dressing room last night?
  3. I heard rumblings yesterday that we are in bit of trouble financially. Bills outstanding and no budget. That’s just wonderful if true.
  4. Yes, absolutely. The supporters were crying out for Wood to return to the fold and when he did (away against Rutherglen as a substitute, I believe) he made an immediate difference. Your post reminded me of one other issue that I had with Gormley. I found him to really direct his annoyance towards Gavin Millar in matches while the experienced heads of Chris Millar and Kevin Nicol escaped his wrath despite making mistakes of their own.
  5. Gormley had to make a lot of signings as he had around five players still under contract from last season. Getting so many players to gel would be difficult for any Manager. Unfortunately as FM said the majority aren’t/weren’t good enough. One left after around a fortnight (McEvoy), another seems to have disappeared completely but remains on the books (Leitch) and current player left, then returned, once Gormley moved on (McCalman) which was bizarre. The main thing for me was the playing of players so obviously out of position in numerous games. Two central midfielders stuck at the back when we had natural central defenders either on the bench or on loan to rivals in the same league! . I also think there were too many voices coming from the sidelines with himself and his background team shouting over each other at times. I wish him all the best but his reign was pretty shambolic.
  6. That was poor this afternoon. Failures at both ends of the park. Wasteful up front and shambolic in defence. Onto Auchinleck where we simply need to be better.
  7. A massive win. I’m really for the players and staff who have been fighting hard. Hopefully Saturday in the Cup doesn’t prove too much of a distraction and we can keep building on the feel good factor.
  8. A much improved performance with some really positive play but we only have ourselves to blame for not taking our chances. Cumnock were really poor and it was our nervousness more than their style of play that let them back into it. Big Jack only has to clear the ball but waits and clips the attacker to concede the penalty. The panic and poor mentality continues to worry me. TC taken off on a stretcher could be a really bad situation.
  9. If we lose on Friday evening then we really are in trouble!
  10. It’s very telling how we can all have our own club rivalries in this league. Arthurlie/Pollok, Buffs/Medda, Cumnock/Talbot for example but are almost all united in loving what is currently happening at this circus. That says it all.
  11. I thought young Josh was outstanding. We looked a lot more solid this afternoon and really dangerous going forward. Well done to the management and players.
  12. Some of that this evening was chronic. It looked, especially in the first half, that we’d never played together before. Arthurlie should have been three up at the break. Second half was better but our overall defensive work and passing is nothing short of horrendous. Beith will run us over on Saturday.
  13. Any hope of watching decent football ruined by a really poor pitch. A tough watch this afternoon but into the hat for the next round and that’s the important thing. Good to see big Jack back. .
  14. One thing is almost guaranteed at Buffs Park at the moment… goals! What an evening of entertainment that was. Our defensive frailties showed once more but the players showed great fight and spirit to come back and ultimately win the game on penalties. Hopefully this can be the start of an upturn in fortunes and the injuries sustained to Ben and Dylan aren’t too bad. I heard that Nicoll is off to Gartcairn but nothing confirmed from the club as yet.
  15. I found that quite bizarre this afternoon. We were certainly in the game at points but as soon as Pollok went down to ten men we lost the plot. Threading the ball through the eye of a needle might work sometimes but so might actually hitting the bloody thing! Trialist ‘keeper as MOTM for me tells you all you need to know about the defence.
  16. The loyalty this man shows to clubs is incredible! .
  17. I thought he was a part of a three-man central defence with Ben and Gavin filling in as wing-backs. I actually thought he would have been a great signing for us after watching him for Clyde but he’s not impressed me at all.
  18. As long as we keep playing Nicoll the mistakes will keep happening.
  19. Another loss. We can blame the long injury list and current upheaval but our passing all season hasn’t been good enough, in my opinion. Overplaying at times which we aren’t good enough to do, sadly. Captain Kevin leading by example yet again with another atrocious display.
  20. If true that he applied for another job whilst in his current position then that alone should be enough to see him off.
