I guess you can't argue with results, but in a lot of those games where we "shut up shop", we really didn't. We had Kelly making great saves, and a fair amount of luck too. We can be the absolute best at defending set pieces and crosses (we aren't), but if you let teams fire in crosses at will and have 17 corners, the odds aren't going to be in your favour. This has been the case since GA came in, so it is definitely a tactic. Are there other teams that do this? What is the theoretical advantage of doing this?
