Just an outside observation - Falkirk will do exactly what it seems Raith might have did (and probably other clubs in the recent past when linked with Goodwillie) see the masses of negative fan reaction and conclude the signing is not worth the hassle, which would be the correct decision (although clubs shouldn’t be contemplating it in the first place). The rapist will continue playing and weirdly being worshiped at Clyde til he retires imo.

The only natural move he'd have from Clyde would be Livingston

If I’ve I misinterpreted your suggestions regarding FSS then my apologies, I just don’t understand why the need to even bring up the suggestion of keeping your money in or out as I don’t see how it is relevant to the David Goodwillie debate.

    It's not entirely irrelevant.

There's many fans who wouldn't attend games if he signs. And that could be for what...3 years. So are you going to continue to pay FSS monthly if you can't/won't attend games. Maybe, but it's  harder for people to justify I think.

Sorry to plug this again, but Jefferies and Brown say how you have to sign your own players as manager and would travel up and down the country to see them play first. They also managed to get deals over the table by selling the club and the challenge to them despite having less money to offer.

Correct. Jefferies and Brown both did stupid miles driving to England midweeks to watch reserve football. We got several of our best players from them going to watch someone else and seeing the guy they signed instead- I'm sure Neil Duffy was just such an example. Possibly Cadette too.

That's by far the best way to build a squad. There's no fucking way Holt travels beyond his patio to watch a player.

It's hard work but it's not that complicated to sign much much better than the fucking shite that's in this squad.

    My best guess is this.

The new board are fans and absolutely do not want Holt in the role he is in (or at least seems to be doing) - recruiting players. When they arrived he’d already put in a load of work scouting, contracting etc players to come in in early January.

Rennie and Miller are only just in the door, so don’t have a crystal clear idea of what we need to sign/don’t have the contacts to do so.

Board has decided to let Holt complete those signings for January, as if they don’t we’re left with the shite we have for weeks into the window, and need to urgently scout/speak to other players.

None of that is an excuse. Seems like a huge gamble given Holt’s track record. I just cannot think of any other reason why the new fans on the board would not bin Holt

I get what you tell trying to say but it only makes sense if those on the board already know the names are a significant step up in quality.

I'm not sure how we can have scouted and had in place a number of names for Jan though as we didn't know we had the Patreon money to spend until very recently.

The same dope DOF with the same dope scout, signing the shite we’re about to get in January, after signing the shite they signed in the summer, with a guy who’s never managed in Britain before and who was most recently an assistant at a women’s team in USA, with Kenny Miller as assistant...we’re genuinely going down aren’t we?

I never got the positivity with Rennie's arrival. The best attribute he had was that he isn't Sheerin. It seems and seemed a massive gamble. Bringing in a real left field punt to try and eke out more from the utter garbage we have. I'm still hoping he has enough about him to keep us up but I'd say relegation is a very real possibility.

Absolutely fucked off that Holt is still stinking the place out. He'll bring in more shit in January and the patreon cash will be pissed up a wall trying to cling on to L1 survival.  League One fucking survival!

We were told to give the new board time to empty Holt properly vis a vis employment law. Time is up.

Ruth & Mcdaid shouldn't be too difficult given they are only on loan. Krasniqi shouldn't really be in there given we've never had a chance to get a proper look at him on the park. Dixon's our best centre back at the club and I'd also have him as captain so I have no idea why you have him in the punt list. Also to say Lemon's edging towards the punt list is just absolute stupidity, he's had one honker of a game playing beside Ben Hall and he's 18 years old. Looks like a right prospect if he gets the development he needs.

Entitled to your opinion. I disagree on Dixon (but am fine with keeping him til June - being the best defender on our books is like being the best looking woman in Fife)

I've been quite vocal that Sheerin is a clueless clown but it could well be Krasniqi is miles away from being a starter even at this level. We'll see what Rennie thinks.

Lemon has had more than one howler. Very raw and may well ve worth developing with a few seasons on the fringes or out on loan. He can't possibly be a starter imo if we are to solidify.

Oh I think it can get worse, very worse

Think you're right. So far we've managed to win against teams that were going through hideous runs of form. The kind of run we're now in the middle of.

The teams above us we'll struggle to get anything from. QP, Cove, Montrose (!) all look vastly superior.

And do you trust this squad to battle to wins against Clyde and East Fife? Mmm.

We have a bit of a left field manager coming in from the US, who may be good or may be another Ian Cathro, so it's crossed fingers time. You wouldn't be too surprised if this season ended in relegation at this point.

You are wanting to keep Dowds?,I thought you were glad to get rid of him.He goes of to Arbroath and have they suddenly made him a better player.Nothing to do with the player but the fact he had a poor manager.

Well yes. Not saying he's good but he clearly has to come back into this squad given how bad it is, and he's already our player so will cost nothing.

Mind you, given he's playing in a better team and a better league he might down tools and say f**k that if we force him to come back and lead this shit to L1 survival.

  9. Maybe re Krasniqi.. certainly wouldn't trust Loser Sheerin's opinion that he's unplayable.

So from that stinking carcass of a squad Rennie has to bring in 3/4 in Jan then somehow get competence from the rest until the summer full clear out

    Means something like

    Mutch/Martin

    R. Williamson (if ever fit)

    New

    New

    Dixon

    Nesbit

    Telfer

    New

    Morrison

    New

    Dowds

4 starters arriving in Jan should be possible if we correctly use the loan market. Very difficult though.

  10. Sorry but the 'we can't just keep replacing entire squads every year' argument is exactly the same as the 'we can't sack the worst manager in the club's history just in case people think we sack managers'

We have to draw out a financial plan that sees us lose all of the below players in the next 6 months, between Jan and June windows :-

priority - Holt, Hall, McKay, Miller, Hetherington, Ross, Ruth, McDaid, Dixon, Ompreon, McGuffie, Wilson, Krasniqi

Could be kept at a push - R Williamson,  McCann, Keena, Mutch, Martin, C Williamson, Morrison, Telfer, Nesbit, Lemon (edging toward priority), Weekes, Dowds

So there's 13 who have to go between now and June 2022.

3 loans - they can get to f**k early in Jan.

Of the other 10 we need to clearly decide who goes in Jan and who goes in June once we hopefully limp to L1 survival. Its critical none of that list is here next season.

It's just semantics at this point, since I can't argue with your assessment, but I'd say he simply continued the downfall. I don't see us that much worse than last year and while that might be a bit out there, I think any manager worth his salt should take us into the playoffs.

Mutch, McCann, Dixon, ???, Williamson, Telfer, Hetherington (boo), McGuffie, Nesbitt, Morrison, Keena can play competent football in League 1 if there is any semblance of a tactical set-up, and the fact we have seen 0 of that is embarassing to our coaching staff. That Grainger pre-match interview makes my blood boil more than the squad itself.

You've still yet to justify your 'neutral on the managers' gem....

  12. 1 minute ago, Shadwell Dog said:

He didn't start our downfall but he's certainly has increased the freefall rapidly. His complete failure to sign any kind of goal scorer has hamstrung the squad at one end whilst his ludicrous decision to give Mackay a 3 year contract is going to cost us a fortune.  Our first season down here we had a squad good enough to win the league but not the manager to do it. Now after Holt's recruitment we have a squad that will be lucky to keep usin this league no matter who is in charge.

All that and he wasted a wage signing his son. A player who was never ever going to start a game for us.

I dont even care if its £100 a week. Disgusting.

I really hope the new manager lands on his feet and we see improvement quickly.

Unfortunately, the appointment has left me underwhelmed. It has echoes Cathro's fairly forgettable outing at Hearts.

This is a huge gamble as avoiding relegation to the bottom division is probably as likely as promotion to League 1 given the ineptitude of the squad.

Fingers crossed it works out but we do appear to be going all in blind!

I was thinking the exact same thing last night- seems a really bizarre gamble.

But then you think its only to the end of the season. If he's shite we punt him. If he's decent we keep him on.

As long as we sign the right players in January we should stay in L1 regardless of the manager. Even the worst manager in our history beat Clyde and Dumbarton.

It's a fresh face and a no lose gamble I'd say

How come Falkirk lose every week and never drop below 5th?

It does show its one of those leagues where the right appointment might still result in a saveable season

Just saying that above. It's totally head scratching.

We get beasted weekly but never budge from 5th.

Aye but we knew we'd have to pay him off whatever happened.  Totally different when it comes to the dof role

I'd like to believe a conversation has been had with Holt already discussing terms of a mutual agreement to leave. If we even have to use half the patron money to get rid of him it will be a bargain
