Indeed, but being very close to breaching employment law is fine. As long as you don’t breach it.

Exactly. Happened in my last company too. There s quite a lot of leeway for employers and it's very difficult to prove that 'Head of Logistics' .. a new role to replace 'Operations Manager' or something is the same.

No you can’t, unless it’s whilst working notice.  That would potentially be constructive dismissal.  You either sack him for gross misconduct or other breach of contractual terms (difficult to argue potentially but would depend on contract) or make the role redundant.

Redundancy is a cheaper route to go down, but the club needs to be validly taking the post out of existence.  We can all see a valid argument for us not needing a DoF role, but it does need to be properly considered before acting.

Well yes but not for ever. Holt can be told the role is redundant and placed on gardening leave in lieu of a worked notice period.

He will continue to be paid his current salary until the end of his notice period and should we wish to we could reinstate the DoF role further down the line.

Please don’t say your going to pretend that it’s vastly different people.
Allowing Colborn into your gang and not emptying Holt would get this new dawn off to the worst possible start. You keep preaching this “it’s time we all stick together”. You know what needs done.

    100% agree.

If this 'new dawn' still has McFarlane,  Colborn, Wright,  Bateman, Holt and Andy Thomson involved it can get to f**k.

I’m fine with the current incumbents leaving it for the new board to boot Holt and Sheerin. Of course, we all know they can’t stay, and I’m certain the current board know that. But it’s a decision that affects the future of the club, thus I think it’s only fair that that decision is taken by those who are taking the club forward. The fact that it’s a complete non decision doesn’t change that

Yep, probably the right thing to do. Gives the new board an easy feelgood start as well when their first order of business is emptying McFarlane,  Holt and Sheerin.

Im honestly not sure of the crossover between folk saying "aye but who do we get" and folk that are saying they specifically don't want Rice, but I imagine its quite high.

Does anyone have any other realistic, punt Sheerin today and have a guy in before the next game names?

Im probably, overall, an "invite applications" guy but in the horrendous circumstances, would be more than willing to accept Brian Rice if it means not one minute more under Sheerin.

I take it those who are saying no to Rice are thinking advertise and see who applies?

I'm absolutely fine with Rice. He's an actual manager .

We're an utter shambles of a club. We need to be realistic about who will come in the short term

I think Rice would be decent.

Incredibly there are *still* some fans giving it the old “well, who would you bring in?” online, as if keeping Sheerin is the best decision of a bad bunch.

We'll invite applications, get some interesting ones, then try and tap up a manager who didn't apply or approach Neil McCann again to be rebuffed publicly.

I'm pretty sure that the incoming directors would have had someone in mind given the fact previously they wanted the removal of Holt, with Holt stinking the place out he has to go since his arrival things took a nosedive, he recruited the current crop of clusterf*cks  and Sheerin just picks them and sticks them on the park surprised we've no seen his laddie yet but, whoever suggested Holt as an interim for when/if Sheerin gets sacked need to take themselves outside and get themselves booted in the balls repeatedly for even thinking that, the last time he done it we went from cracks papered over to the walls nearly come down play off spot to 5th in the league, that takes some doing and even said it was an ask to get a play off place.

This isn't true, as another poster said. There's no way for example that Ruth or Seb Ross were Holt signings.

As well as being a diabolical bad coach and manager Sheerin's eye for a player is rancid.

I keep seeing this point made but I don’t necessarily agree.

Queens Park have just appointed a director of football, and Cove and Clyde also have one in this league.

The quality of recruitment is ultimately what determines the success of a football club. The reason we are where we are is that we’ve consistently managed to get rid of a whole team and replace them with even worse quality for the last 5 years.

The £50k or whatever that a DOF will be paid is a lot less than what we’ll have spent on bringing in and getting rid of shite players over the last few years. Even less if they can identify sellable assets.

Clearly Holt isn’t up to the job but I don’t think it’s ridiculous to have someone focused on recruitment at the club, as it’s the key factor in our success or otherwise.

I'm in this camp too. Holt's a catastrophe but that's him, not the role necessarily.

Ambivalent about whether we keep it, as long as it isn't Holt.

    Can't wait for tonight's interview.

Well Paul an unlucky performance today what do you think went wrong?

I'm not sure but we'll get back on the training ground and work hard and see if we can get a bit better. I said last week that I wasn't sure if we could get better but after today I'm now nearly convinced that we can't but we'll work hard on Monday as I said.

How do you lift the players up after today.

Well we'll get back on.the training ground on Monday and work hard you can't argue with that. We're striving to be a top half club and I still think we can do that. It won't be easy but if we get on the training ground and work hard anythings possible.

Paul as always thanks for your time.

In October at the Q&A, Sheerin says he doesn’t know what to do

In November, Sheerin says he maybe can’t change things

He will be gone but we’ll never get answers to such questions as:

Who did we turn down in order to secure Sheerin’s services?
Why did we let this go on for three months? (should have gone after the Alloa away game)

    and so many more

Spot on. We have a manager who was begging to be sacked for several weeks. Bizarre interviews, admissions that he wasnt up to the job.

Did someone not claim the board clowns genuinely thought we were still going to win the league even at the Q&A point??

Just think, if we'd been a functioning football club, we'd have got rid of Sheerin and Holt in October and could have got Yogi in.

Fans are partly responsible there. There were still people backing him even during the week.

I bet there's still plenty not wanting him sacked tonight.

Our fans are largely clueless morons.

Sheerin (even if we leave out todays mentalness) is getting significantly less than the sum of our squads parts though. I wont hear otherwise on that part.

That said, theres a seperate issue needs addressing of these players and their application over recent weeks, and il be holding my fucking nose to celebrate with them if they go out and body some dross under a caretaker in the coming weeks. They are basically all fucking charlatans.

I wouldn't rule out a real manager taking this squad with some January changes to the playoffs.

Wouldn't it be nice if one, just one, Falkirk fan could find it in him to say " well done Queen's, you completely outplayed us and fully deserved your victory"? Come on, try.

f**k off.. go directly to f**k off.. keep fucking off...

No one, obviously, you were right. I didn’t think he was an amazing appointment but I genuinely didn’t think he’d be a disaster. How wrong I was.

Happy to admit I didn't have a problem with Holt coming in.

Sheerin however I sussed from Day One was a stinking appointment.
