  1. It’s interesting how venues seem to have been affected very differently. Walked through the grass market earlier and you wouldn’t get a table most places. Lots of people eating and drinking indoors and outdoors. Just been for a swim and the pool was absolutely heaving. Meanwhile some places are empty.
  2. Still very little public support for a lockdown
  3. I knew it would be Evans before I clicked on the link. Another one who’s been calling for restrictions almost weekly for the last 2 years.
  4. Seemingly 111 out of 169 (two thirds) ‘covid admissions’ in London were not admitted due to covid at all.
  5. Doesn’t seem like a back 5 to me (at least from what I can see) but Williamson is pushing really high up the pitch.
  6. Reicher is on independent sage and has called for a lockdown at every opportunity for the last 2 years so no surprise to see him piping up.
  7. You seem to live in a parallel universe to most pub, cafe and restaurant owners. Places are empty everywhere I'm looking. Whichever part of Edinburgh you were visiting must be an outlier as anywhere I have been this week has been more akin to January that the week before Christmas. People are staying home for sure when you see how quiet places are. The only busy place I saw this morning was Prestwick beach !!! I’ve just walked down George Street in Edinburgh and most restaurants and bars looked very busy to me. Outdoor áreas in particular absolutely heaving.
  8. Tbh we had over 4000 admissions a day at points in January so 3000 should be manageable even if this ridiculous model did somehow come to pass.
  9. I see Ferguson is back at it with the spurious models. I suspect next door’s retriever would be more accurate.
  10. Just walked through the grass market in Edinburgh and while not as packed as a normal Friday before Christmas, most places still looked busy. Having said that Edinburgh has pretty much always been busy since places reopened, while Glasgow has been much quieter than normal any time I’ve been through.
  11. I’m not convinced- there’s some decent players in the squad for sure but the vast majority are bang average at best even for this level. Our options at centre half are poor, we’re stuffed at right back when Williamson is inevitably injured, there’s no one to provide dig in midfield and the less said about our ‘strikers’ the better. Even our better players have offered very little for weeks. A good number of signings required in January for me.
  12. I really find it incredible that we are now 22 months into this and well underway with third vaccine doses, yet the message from NS is back to ‘stay at home’. Totally ludicrous position given what we now have compared to March 2020.
  13. Looks like most of the public are not up for a lockdown
  14. Someone phoned up LBC claiming to be the man’s nephew, saying he was an anti-vaxxer in his late 70s. Whether that’s the case or not I have no idea, but would certainly explain why the government haven’t been rushing to share more information.
  15. He’s not going anywhere anytime soon judging by Rennie’s interview
  16. Seems like Yousaf is at odds with Sturgeon Humza Yousaf, the health secretary, dismissed calls for a circuit breaker, saying it could have unintended consequences of pushing up deaths and illnesses from other diseases. “We have to always balance the harms, that is why we haven’t imposed more restrictions perhaps than we are doing at the moment, because we understand 20 months into this people’s mental health is suffering, the economy is suffering, people’s well being is suffering, there has been educational disruptions,” he said. “Of course as a government there are other measures we could take that could limit social mixing, but they would come at harm and at a cost. “The government’s job is to balance those various harms and I think that is the balance we have got right.”
  17. I’d be astonished if they were lifted before April or May. We’d be right back to the ‘cautious approach’ and ‘I make no apologies for keeping people safe’ stuff.
  18. Christ, that article is like a who’s who of covid nut jobs- doom monger Deepti, Reicher and Bauld. They’ve called for lockdowns on an almost weekly basis for the past 2 years.
  19. They’ll definitely be unable to operate if she gets her wish and shuts them
  20. Absolutely- if these people don’t want to go to the pub or football, they are more than welcome to stay at home. The issue is they keep trying to impose this attitude on everyone else.
