Im concerned we’re going to burst their bubble and force them into depression.
I mean a bunch of no marks on the board, wages at 96% of turnover, a loss of £1M incurred in winning league 1, before the influx of more highly paid players in this league, renting a ground for 500 fans whilst re-developing another 1. Nothing to see here, what could possibly go wrong?

For the record, these do not mean the same thing. At least the thought hasn't got you lot rattled though!

Not rattled at all. Good ambitious footballers will always move on. His contract is up in the summer and if we dont go up he'd be off given his aspirations. If we do go up, he'll be in demand and probably command more than we can pay. Whether he stays or goes, its been a blast and he has helped us more than I could have dreamed.

it's all well and good talking about dropping players and losing games so as to win the Championship but a lot could happen between now and April.

There's a long way to go and it's better to take one game at a time.

It wasn't that long ago when Dundee were 15 points ahead in the Championship at Christmas and guess who passed them on their way to winning and promotion.

    The Famous Caley of course.

Don't get too carried away as I said to the wife's sister in bed last night.

Don't think anyone on here is getting carried away and no-one is playing to lose. Instead I think its the complete opposite.

At the moment the squad depth is not there to properly cover the (injury) loss of certain key players. The games against Dundee and Ayr are way more important (IMO). As you can see from this thread, there is a split of views on the best way foward. Would imagine OC doesnt read this nor care for any views outside his own his team and however he plays it I'll be right behind him

I’ve changed my mind now that Ayr are in exactly the same boat with a long midweek journey. Strongest XI for me. There’s a path to the quarters for both sides there. Wee bit of luck of the draw and rub of the green and you could find yourself at Hampden for the semis.

Good point about Ayr. I think the result against Dundee will influence decisions as no points makes the Ayr game more crucial. Probably completely wrong and would explain why its Coyle and not me thats in charge. Either way I trust Coyle will make the right call.

You lot all seem very confident he's going nowhere. Also for those who are saying Queens Park wouldn't let him go cheaply...what if he was to sign a pre-contract with someone else? Would you just not accept a fee for him and let him go for free in the summer? Doubtful.

As I said earlier, money talks. If the numbers were right for everyone and there was a replacement lined up, I have no doubt - anything is possible.

Anything about us going full Celtic and stealing Simon Murray? Heard that twice now.

Surely not. Have read SM state he has aspirations to get back to Premiership. At 31, probably his last chance, would be a risky move (IMO) when at this stage both, none or either of us could go up. Clearly he will move on at some point and money talks for both the player and club (while under contract).... guess we'll see.

Been a while since I was at the Macaroni, never liked it as we were usually crammed into one end of the stand, parking though not so bad and there is a stadium bar with another couple of bars nearby.

A fifth round win should bring around the £20,000 mark.

Could be wrong but would guess the difference (£) between winning the championship (or even a top 4 position with play-off revenue) and a mid table finish is more than £20k. As others have said, not worth the risk for us IMO.

New signings can't but clearly players who were injured and fit again for the rescheduled tie can.

I don't think its unreasonable to question the efforts of Cove to get it on given the pictures of the pitch yesterday.  They didn't even have covers down. Minimal effort on their part and they should be called out for it. They are a professional outfit not a Highland league one.

Yeah completely agree. Maybe I didnt word it very well. Feel exactly the same about Inverness game

I thought it was only used in stadiums that have it in place, no?

Yes thats my understanding too. But the competition needs a level playing field imo. Either VAR in or out for all (or at the very least by round). Oh ffs games over now

Inverness v Queens Park in cup postponed - means QP have to go there for replay on Tuesday 31st before we play them on Friday 3rd.   Would be good if we could manage to get our game played tomorrow to avoid having to have our replay on same night.

I realise I've almost certainly jinxed it now of course.

Yeah, not great for us with Dundee the weekend before too. Probably contraversial but personally starting to feel Coyle et al need to decide our priority and set the team up accordingly

Disappointed this has been rescheduled in between Dundee away on the Saturday and Ayr at Ochilview on the Friday. Would rather we made 8/9 changes for it now, under those circumstances.

100% agree. Was hoping a bit if a run in this but not at the expense of the league. Clearly there could be a big payday in future rounds but probably not that lucky. Couldnt find anything on league standing prizes what any cup payments might be. Anyone know?

I've been told by two separate people who know what they're talking about that the sort of grass used at Hampden needs to be played on regularly to get it to "bind" or what the phrase is.

So..... They need to find a team who is prepared to play there regularly, possibly whilst their own ground isnt ready 🤔 ..... let me think........ emm, nope no-one comes to mind 🙄

An outstanding record achieved three centuries back against massive teams such as Renton, Clydesdale, Vale of Leven, Thornliebank and Third Lanark etc.

Achieved playing with shorts down to their ankles, bunnets, tackety boots, and beards down to their navels.

Those were the days when sheep shagging was an acceptable form of social life and men ran amock at the sight of a womans ankle.
