Dunno - hopefully SD will be along soon to clarify this point as he is probably the poster with the best actual knowledge on this.

At a guess, I would doubt that player performance is a big factor in "compensation" - it probably more reflects the costs for the development/training/coaching work invested by the host club in the player for the period of time in question, so would doubt that big figures are likely.  As I said though, SD should hopefully clarify this.

I would think performance has nothing to do with it to be honest. We have only given Paton 2 years development in his career the same as Fitzpatrick. The difference would be if the club was to ask for say 50k(they can ask for whatever they want) and a club was only willing to pay 10k then it would go to a transfer tribunal similar to Lewis Ferguson going to Aberdeen from Hamilton. But he was at Hamilton for a bit longer. Fitzpatrick went for about 10k it was reported last summer. It will be interesting to see how much we get when he goes.

Livi or any club will have to pay a development fee for Paton.

Hopefully he stays with us to develop further  then make the step-up

Paton is going down to England to try his luck if any buying club can agree compensation with us. But that won't be high due to him only being with us 2 years. Probably about same we got for Fitzpatrick around 10k

  3. Good to see Cochrane sign on again was the major improvement from when MB came in. He is still a young lad hopefully he can kickmon and help us challenge for promotion. Church from Alloa always impressed when he played against us and young enough to improve back in a full time environment. Fully expect Robertson from Edinburgh to be one of our new players.

If true, then it takes the rebuild to another level. Perhaps that is what's needed but I quite liked the idea of a midfield comprising Wilson, Cochrane and Todd.

But the manager only played it once. It was always Cochrane or Wilson since he came in. Anyone heard what is happening with Wilson?

Irving prob stays as a bench filler on the cheap, McMahon rumoured Annan bound. Guess a few other have prob been offered deals prob low wages and if they do go elsewhere QoS will get a little compo...

If offered lower wages then no compo at all.  Has to be a higher contract offer to entitle club to compensation. Especially with Cochrane and possibly East having interest.

Realistic players to try and extend for next year: Botterill, Logan, McKechnie, Cochrane, East, Wilson and Todd.

Players I’d like to see us target: Matty Yates, Scott Allan, Paul Watson, John Robertson, Joe Bevan.

Can I ask why Scott Allan good player years ago but why someone that knows him and likes him as a player does not play him at Arbroath.

  7. Don't think that Paton or Dabrowski will be with us next year.

I have to eat humble pie and say I was totally wrong about Bartley. He seems to be able to get a tune out of underperforming players. Hoping his recruitment is good for next year to help us challenge next year. If he gets it right their is no reason we can't win the league. I think he wil go with a young squad which he can coach. Cochrane is a different player under him but wants to play at a higher level but will anyone pay compensation and take the risk. Paton, Dabrowski defo away 100% Paton rumoured for Ayr and Dunfermline . Young lad Watson from hearts rumoured to be signing. Efe Ambrose rumoured as well.

I’m not. With Hendrie and Brydon out, there’s a good chance we might see Dave McKay and/or Ciaran can of tennents McKenna.

I’d say it’s an absolute stick on for over 2.5 goals though. Got the fear even with a fringe team, we could see Airdrie put 3 or 4 past us at least.

    100% McKenna plays tomorrow

  9. Bartley has a major rebuild job on his hand. We have been linked with a lot of lower league players I feel that won't progres us unless linked with experience and know how. Orsi and Gray from Dumbarton. Gray is worth a punt. 100% Robertson and Mutch from Edinburgh not sure. Reilly from Albion again worth a punt. Bartley has to get his experience right to get the right blend. Reilly, McKay and Brydon contracted. But would only keep Brydon. Why has Gibson been ignored in last few weeks he is far superior to McKechnie.

Tbf I wasn't blown away with Logan signing and Brydon was meh. I've been impressed with both of them though so I'll give it time.

I agree Brydon has proved a signing with potential and Logan looks like he can improve with coaching. I just feel we need a squad with characters if even only 1 or 2 like Dunfermline this year.

  11. We were always onto a loser yesterday with Dunfermline needed a win to take title. I would have like to see him going with Wilson and Cochrane but he makes those decisions.  I thought he got it wrong with young Irving selection. As we all know he has a total rebuild and I think it will be interesting to see who if any he keeps from our squad.

You're something else like. Slated the guy since he's come in. Disappeared when we went on our best run in years and now we've been beat again you're back on having a pop again

How on earth have you come to the conclusion he's burned his bridges with Wilson? He's literally been playing Wilson ahead of Cochrane. I've already given my handful of players further up the page.

Come on reign your neck in. Wilson has had his issues with Bartley it is no secret outed him for his mistakes against Kelty.

Have congratulated him for the upturn in our  results but have we have actually played that that well just ground these results out. We are now out of play off contention and now allows him to plan for next season without playing the players to keep them inside. Cochrane was our best player by a country mile but still managed to drop him for Wilson. Gibson has been left out for a below par McKechnie and Irving  and now Gibson is looking elsewhere due to his man management and that is now my problem. He has turned around our results and I appreciate that but covering over the cracks in my opinion. We need a total clear out and let's see what he can do impressed with Dabrowski, Brydon and Logan so hopefully that is the standard he wants to bring in.

Is your Irving question directed at anybody or are you just talking out loud? He isn't up to the task I'm afraid and in all honesty either are the other youngsters on the books with the exception of Gibson and possibly Muir. You wouldn't keep one of Wilson or Cochrane? Gibson won't be going anywhere. Unless Bartley isn't keen on him of course. But there's no chance a Prem side are buying him on the back of a few really good performances for us. The season after perhaps.

The fact is that for as bad as the players have been, Bartley has managed to get a tune out of them recently (though even winning games is being criticised because the performances weren't good, ffs ) so I'm hoping he keeps a handful of the better ones together and can build from there. Folk complain every year that we have a high turnover of players with nothing to build on and in the same breath will say 'get rid of the lot'. There has to be some kind of balance.

So who are your handful you want to keep. We will have 3-5 players signed up for next year. Bartley will have his targets but as I have said before players from lower league players Bartley will have to get a tube out off. He has got a tune apart from today. Murray, Connelly, Todd for me are not what we need gong forward. Would love to keep Wilson but Bartley has burned those bridges.

  14. Well Wilson only has 2nd year option if promoted. Todd has been offered but not accepted. Well Bartley loaned out Reilly and told him he was part of his plans next year!!! Logan would be a good signing. But we need a total clear out.

Why would you keep Irving just because he is local the boy is out of his depth and today confirmed that.

Paton is off heard that Ross County have offered him a deal and St Johnstone, Ayr and Morton interest it nothing concrete.

Let's be honest fron current squad Dabrowski is the only one we would keep.

Heard Kilmarnock are interested in Gibson as a cheap option with promise.

I'll be surprised if MB makes such a change to the system. If Connelly is dropped then I'd expect it'll be Murray (or Gibson I suppose). Replacing him with Cochrane would certainly be a more defensive move and nothing from MB so far suggests he'll be up for that. I'd love Cochrane and Wilson to be in the same midfield together but I think they're too similar for it to be effective.

Agreed to be fair it's always Murray or Connelly switch but none of the did anything to deserve to keeping their place. I would play Cochrane beside Wilson and then move Todd forward. Not normal but Dunfermline can clinch league and we will need to frustrate them so they don't score early. Would take a draw all day long but as others have said they just know how to win games.

  16. Well I think I need to give Bartley credit he has turned is around in a very short space of time although today we did ride our luck incredibly. Dabrowski makes a huge difference if that was Currie we would have lost 4-2 today.  Impressed by Brydon and Logan. Hopefully he will sign for next year. Connelly a massive disappointment today and we'll you know how I feel about Murray. Why Todd is playing all the time is beyond me I really hope we do not extend his contract for next year.

  17. Lewis, McKay, Brydon and Reilly all under contract. Wilson can leave if we are not promoted as that was the trigger for his 2nd year. I would keep Logan as he looks promising. East but not as out first choice CB. Mckechnie I would keep as could use as an impact sub. Dabrowski will get higher offers but you never know. Agree with everyone else Paton is off as he is being whored round social media by his agents. But the good thing we will be due some development fee for him as only 22 👍. Cochrane is one who definitely got better under Bartley but was then dropped by again under 23.
