  1. Well Bartley gets MOTM it's official. Saturday's game was an eye sore but we won. He has to be congratulated in that. He has found a system that is winning us games and stuck to it. Good to see big Wilson up and running again and dictating games hopefully he can stay fit till end of season. Maybe he has been giving Gibbo the break he needed to unleash him for last 5 games as for me he plays over McKechnie and he can be brought on as an impact sub. What are people's thoughts on Bartley possibly offering some of these players contracts for next year as we have not been happy with them all season.

I thought Wilson took a while to get going today but then turned into the spider again and his legs were everywhere. As good as Connelly has been in months. Was a frustrating performance as well though. The number of times he chose the right pass but the execution was slightly short was unlucky. He has to start for the rest of the season though, brings far more than Murray ever has. Cochrane picked up where he left off when he came on.

Personally would play Wilson and Cochrane

Xenophopic and short term view. The guy is a highly intelligent, experienced coach that needs to bring his own squad in then judge him.

Don't be so stupid with comments like that. It's his first gig on his own he been a assistant manager and coach.  Because he speaks well he is highly intelligent. Like everyone else I will wait and hope when he gets his own players he shuts me up. Think it may be time for a break from here as you longer now allowed to express your own opinions without stupid comments.

  4. I don't want him to do the same to Murray everyone apart from him can see he is not a player we need on our team. I agree for rid of our main weaknesses and brought supposedly better replacement but still the same. I think he should be making us hard to beat. Set us up in a way that we are not bombing forward all the time and leaving spaces all over our already fractured back line. Keep it tight scrape a wee 1-0 win. Do you honestly think with our budget next year we are going attract  level of players who will have is challenging.

He's an Annan fan (apparently). I'm asking why he seems so bothered. I don't think the guy posted as much in the match thread at the start of the season.

If you're continuing with this I'll bring it up again. You yourself have said you would keep maybe 2 or 3 of this dross and yet you're getting frustrated with MB not getting a tune from them? If you think they're so shite how on earth can you think MB is doing a bad job with them?

A good coach/manager can set up a team to get the best out of them.  You asked who I think Bartley would keep and going by his team selections that why I said those players and others I would keep as think they could improve. So when Bartley got the gig you categorically expected us not to improve at all poorer performances even if you say better PPG than WG but to be honest not a high bar. He started of playing Ruth in his first few games then pulled him off after 30 mins against Hamilton never to be seen again. Great man management that of a young boy. Wilson ridiculed him saying he was not die after bringing him on a week earlier against Kelty then leaving him out of squad the following week. Again great man management. Which we thought Bartley was bringing as he talked such a good game. He even said at the start of his tenure. That he has to get a team on the park anda formation that brings out the best in these players. Yet to see it. Then he plays more or less the same team for 5 games including the 👻 including 3 losses and a draw on Saturday. That's why I have my doubts plus his attitude is to blame everyone else but himself.

If he signs a bunch of dross and we are this shit again next season then of course Bartley will rightly be criticised. Until then though, he is working with probably the worst collection of full time footballers ever assembled in this country and he isn’t responsible for that…. WG is.

So Dougie is he filling you with confidence so far in his approach to our club and how the team are performing?

I'll ask you again - why do you care?

Think he has got a point to be fair. You seem to have so much in Bartley because WG bought loads of poor players. So will you stil be as supportive if he starts signing players from Dumbarton, Kelty Hearts and Edinburgh to help us back to championship next season.

Freshen it up with who? The squad is pish! Wilson is the only one who should be featuring more going by his past performances. I've been a big fan of Connelly but he's done very little of note when he has come on. Of this underperforming squad, who would you keep next season?

I would keep definitely East, Cochrane. Would love to keep Dabrowski. Logan not had long enough to find out what he is like. On the fence with McGrory, McKechnie and Connelly.

Not a fan of any of the other forwards. Paton will be away I would think.

Will be interesting to see what the club do with the players under 23. Will they offer them contracts or let them leave.

Think we will be tested by someone being interested in Lewis. No matter what Bartley will probably need to sign about 15 players in the summer.

  9. Bartley now has to freshen things up as if that's what he gets when he is loyal to players. Everyone knows my feelings on Murray. But Todd surely must be close to being left out. I thought the whole midfield were poor on Saturday and Clyde bullied is all over the park. Can't rely to heavily on McKechnie and personally I think Lewis needs a rest. Paton is lone wolf up front but that's the way Bartley is playing. Logan still has to convince to soft for me. You see how well WG is playing for Annan as well. We all want the season to end but the manager still has a long way to go in my opinion. It's always everyone else's fault. Take some responsibility man you have all week with these players.

I am sure he did this a couple weeks ago, something about he's not injured but Bartley wants him to be fitter before he starts playing again, as he's been rushed back before when not injured but not fully fit and that just contributed to him picking up more injuries.

He does not want Wilson he will be gone at end of season as well. 100 %

No we haven't. You can get frustrated that we haven't got much better we haven't got worse. Our ppg before Bartley came in was 1.23. Bartley is sitting on 1.42 (10 points) the now. He's had less games of course so for fair comparison the same fixtures the first time we faced those sides under WG returned 1.28ppg (or 9 points).

I'm not saying I'm impressed with us or defending MB but it's just objectively wrong to say we've got worse. We haven't.

Do you think performances have improved under Bartley. I do not just my opinion.

Indeed, we've already moved onto next season and binned this one ...

Why is Bartley not playing Wilson and Connelly.  Todd and Murray are getting away with pathetic performances every week. Not impressed. Why do we keep saying it's a free hit. By the end of the season he will have had 16 games in charge. Did not think it was possible but we have got worse. He has stuck with mostly the same team not for 5 games surely has to mix it up a bit now.

At the moment I'd be push, push, pushing for Cochrane, East, Todd* and Paton to re-sign asap.

On the fence about Cowie, Muir, McKechnie, Connelly** and McGrory.

    No idea about Botterill.

The rest... nah...  although I've got this nagging, horrible, sick feeling that MB may re-sign The Ghost.

    * sorry if this upsets you, Manwithnoball!

** Connelly needs a run of games to prove himself again because in my mind we'd be offering him a deal based purely on the Connelly of 2021/22 not 2022/23.

To be honest I totally agree about Connelly he has not played enough this season due to injury and WG not playing him. I don't think he deserves a new deal at this time. But for the life of me I have no idea why Murray gets time ahead of Connelly or McGrory in that position. I really do not see what he gives the team but the manager has other thoughts and it would turn my stomach if he got a new deal.

I really liked Todd believe it or not when he played of the left hand side of a 4 as it suited his game more but all the formation changes to me don't suit him. It's a funny one with the holding midfield role that Cochrane Wilson and McGrory have all filled this year my preference would be Wilson but I agree with @qos1990that Bartley does not rate him or McGrory and expect both not to be here next year. Cochrane has had a run of games and his fitness has improved considerably.

Just now with 9 games to go Bartley has picked the same team more or less including the 👻 for the last 4 games even after losses to me that sends a message to the rest that they are not rated or part of his plans.

Going by this I would expect East, Cochrane, Todd to be offered something for next year if they want to stay. The rest I can't see a strong enough case for at this time. Paton will not sign in my opinion as he thinks he will get a better team but like most others I do not agree he is ready for a significant step up. Someone in the championship may take a risk but obviously we will be due a development fee. Young Lewis I would imagine will have options and obviously a fee would be involved but I feel we may be tested by someone to see if we wil let him go.

I believe also he wants Wilson out of the club and would not surprise me if they mutually agreed to him leaving without a fee.

I don't think Bartley will give anyone a new deal while the season is still going like a lot of clubs do at this time of the season with players they want to keep.

Paton will be away regardless and I can’t see Connelly being a MB type player to be honest. Is Todd not under contract for next year anyway?

Todd only signed for this year but may want to stay on if given the option. But do his performances merit it not for me. Totally agree re Paton and Connelly has been injured most of this season. If fit he is an asset. A lot of others are obviously not Bartley's type as they have not featured so can start to look for a new club

I meant to mention this earlier but what is up with Ruari Paton? After the first goal, and a bit for the second too, he seemed to ignore all of his teammates celebrating and instead just walked slowly back while staring at Airdrie fans and talking to himself. I think he’s pals with Rico which maybe explains it but who knows. A good player but an odd character.

Well known he was Rico's best mate and was really disappointed he left. He is only in it for himself and hoping of a move no interest to stay next year  but may not have an option as under 23 so may not have any option if club offer him a contract.
