  2. I think Adam Brown might need to bide his time to get back into the side. It was great to see Taylor get a start on Saturday. He is such an exciting player to watch.
  3. That was a huge result, not least because it looked like it had 0-0 written all over it. Dumbo had the best of the opening half an hour and looked decent. They had us pinned in but only really had one chance which Jamieson made what looked like an excellent save from. Remainder of the 1st half we came into it - had a goal disallowed which was offside, but it was a nice move involving Taylor, who after a nervous start was so good. It was great to see him back. So, pretty even first half, but I think we deserved the win based on our 2nd half. Dumbarton had most of the possession and in the main the game was played in our half without Jamieson making any save, but on the break (I think they call it a “transition” these days) we were excellent. In the blink of an eye we were able to shift the ball wide to O’Reilly or Taylor who both looked threatening. But for Long’s saves and Lynch’s profligacy we should have scored one or two. Sure the winning goal had a slice of luck about it, but you need luck on your side at times. Injuries will come and to date with the exception of Taylor’s injury, we have been lucky so far. These are really great times to be a Stenhousemuir fan. Six wins in a row (when did that last happen) and a really likeable side without any objectionable characters. Dumbarton are a strong side, and there is still a long way to go.
  4. Back on topic, the only surprise is that it has taken this long for the wheels to fall off. I was amazed that they maintained the squad that they did after the FC funding ran out. Where did they think the money was coming from?
  5. Was he even "challenging for the ball"? He made no attempt to get the ball, never mind the nature of the challenge.

  7. Can’t believe the tackle on Nditi wasn’t a straight red.
  8. They do get a ridiculous amount of penalties although the one that sticks in the mind is the one they didn't get against us last time we played them. After the game, and I presume before he had seen the footage, Robbie Horn said he hoped the referee would apologise when he watched it back. The foul was outside the box. My guess is that Horn didn't apologise to the referee.

  10. I see Bomber passed his UEFA Pro Licence. There are a lot of positive things around the club at the moment. Long may it continue.
  11. It was such a commanding performance. Mikey Anderson was excellent but in that 2nd half Nicky Jamieson was just everywhere. We could have taken the rest of the back line off and let him to get on with it himself. Really encouraging and for the first time in years it is a real joy going to the games. So many positive performances across the entire team. These are good times.

  13. A humdinger of a 2nd half which was really quite thrilling. Bad first half from Stenhousemuir. When you are expecting Nicky Jamieson to pick passes in the opposition half then you know things are not going well. It was pedestrian stuff. Spartans were stuffy and their tactics were reminiscent of Bonnyrigg, which can be effective but probably won’t be good enough to challenge at the top. Second half we certainly upped the pace and deservedly got our equaliser before shooting ourselves in the foot a minute later to allow Spartans to regain the lead. No idea what the penalty was for but given the “jostling” in the box each time we had a corner there was a degree of inevitability about it (even though the cross wasn’t actually from a corner) Matty Aitken never makes me feel confident but I don’t think he has missed from the spot. No doubt that the winner had a huge slice of luck attached, but I think we deserved it for no other reason than we just refused to give up, and even when 3-2 up continued to push for more goals. Huge game Tuesday now…
  14. Sadly it looked like Danny Jardine had a recurrence of his knee injury last night.

  17. Totally dominated the first 20 mins or so. Could and should have been well ahead before they scored and then we fell apart. Second half was just awful. Totally lost any semblance of shape when we made the changes in the 2nd half and in actual fact could have lost by more. The lack of a threatening centre forward was so apparent today. Concentrate on the league.
  18. Wouldn't be so sure - that logic doesn't seem to apply at the SPFL
  19. Tonight's the night. Like most Stenhousemuir fans I will have to make do with twitter for score updates. Only a quarter of the season gone but already every game feels vitally important. I think we are only missing Ross Taylor tonight and have three new signings to introduce to the squad.
  20. Jardine was a cracking player at Stirling. Looked like he could play at a higher level. Sounds like it is a gamble worth taking if he can get back to the player he was before his injury. But it does sound as if he isn't there yet.
