  1. Wouldn’t call it “an absolute coup”. He’s played about 60 mins for us in total. And I must say I have been very very impressed by him. Especially in that 15 minute spell at Alloa. However, he’s had quite a few loans now and none have really worked out for him. He’s got a few months left of the season to impress and earn himself a deal with us, but he’ll need put in a right good few performances and chip in with some goals.
  2. Please do excuse me for most likely getting ahead of myself. But this is Morrisons 5th season with us. Just signed a new two year deal, so let’s say he’s with for that length of time. That’ll be 7 years he will have been with the club. If he can continue a similar goal scoring record in the championship does that mean he’s a Falkirk “legend”.
  3. I’ve always wondered is it a case of Raith chucking loads of money at it? Or do they just have a manager and a board that can identify some really good players for this level. The likes of Dylan Easton, Scott brown, Connolly were just really nifty signings. I doubt there was a long line of clubs that had bigger budgets than Raith rovers wanting to sign them. Vaughn came through their youth academy and the likes of Ashcroft, rudden, and turner have most like just seen that Raith is a good club to join at the moment. Will they really be offering these players shitloads more than Dunfermline or Patrick thistle? All being said I don’t doubt they have spent money this year but they are getting the fans through the gate to pay for all this. 3rd highest attendance in the championship I think.
  4. Add McKay and Oliver to that list. Bisland will also leave at the end of his loan.
  5. Very very narrow minded way of looking at it. Yes the full stand one does look better. However, the ultras do a fantastic job and these TIFOs do not come cheap. A full stand display costs significantly more than the section where the ultras sit. Moreover, would all of the fans in the KM7 stand have the appetite to take part in displays more frequently? Probably not. It’s great the ultras do tifo displays, no matter the size. “Full stand effort or nothing” is just ignorant to the time, cost, and effort associated with these displays.
  6. I actually don’t entirely disagree tbh. However, I wouldn’t replace him. I would 100% be giving him another contract and I would just also be looking to bring in another left back as competition. Mcann is a solid solid player. Nevertheless, he can get caught out in games and I really wasn’t that impressed with him against Hamilton back in December. I think that most people would agree that defensively he’s probably on the average side and it’s always been his attacking play that has received the most praise and deemed to be his biggest strength. However, when you look at his stats, he gets very minimal assists and goals.
  7. Heard there was genuine interest for him from other clubs.
  8. I’m really against playing a Nesbitt or an Oliver in a deeper number 8 role. We done it last season a few times and it’s really not that effective. Against teams who we are comfortably better than and will have lots of the ball Nesbitt or Oliver are fine in the number 8 role. However, against teams that will give us a bit of battle in the midfield it dosent work. Yeats is the best option if Hendo or Spencer is injured. Although I would really prefer if we signed someone as cover in there. As someone else said, McGinn is finished.
  9. Yeah especially when Mcglynn has repeatedly said “you don’t change your back 4 unless you have to”
  10. Seriously fucked it here Mcglynn. He’s a good manager but f**k me does he have some serious flaws.
  11. So would I. 3 goals from the bench this season. Certainly can’t say the same about Allan.
  12. Shanley cup tied for the bonnyrigg rose game as well. Would likely be Oliver or Allan that will start up front in that game then.
  13. I’d probably have to disagree with you quite a bit now. Again I am not suggesting any major surgery. But to suggest we should resign Bisland, Mackie, Oliver and long I just can’t agree with. One or two I can get behind. But all 4 (even if the loan signings were possible) is just mental and imo shows far too much complacency. 6-8 new signings isn’t major surgery it’s simply what needed to replace outgoings players. I think we signed 7 new players this summer. 8 if you include shanley and that’s allowed us to go from second to first in league 1. If we do have real aspirations of play offs. 2-3 new signings just isn’t going to cut it.
  14. Totally agree, I suppose I just like speculative talk like this on the forum. I think it’s what makes up a substantial portion of the page as well.
  15. I’m not suggesting we rip up the entire squad though. You said we need 2-3 new signings. But you’ve also said McKay, lawal, and McGinn will go and the two loan players will need replaced. Well that’s 5 signings already. And that’s also presuming we keep Morrison. 6-8 new signings at face value may seem like a lot but what I’m trying to explain is when you break it down that’s about the number of signings we will need in order to keep the same squad size. I am also giving you the benefit of the doubt by resigning Mackie and Oliver which I think at least 50% of the fan base would not resign. Plus shanley who we’ve only seen for 70 minutes and Hogarth who you’ve also stated there is still question marks over. Again I think most of the fanbase would agree with that.
  16. At this level with most players on 1-2 year contracts 6-8 signings every summer is getting on for being the bear minimum. Like I’ve said the other players out of contract will need to be replaced. Not including Yeats, Donaldson, Mcann and Hendo and who I think everyone would keep will need to be accounted for. The simple maths equates to 6-8 new signings.
  17. Yeah I do agree we don’t need too many new players. But we also can’t get complacent /naive and believe that just two or three new signings and all of a sudden we can compete at the top end of the championship. We need 6-8 new players that will come in and provide quality, competition, and cover. You talk about keeping some players that are out of contract. Ok let’s say we do manage to keep Morrison, and we resign Ross, Hogarth, and shanley. Long and Bisland return to their parent clubs. McGinn is retiring. So there’s 3 signings right there we need. Who out of mckay, Mackie, Oliver and lawal are you keeping? We cannot get complacent and use up some of the budget on players that cannot get a game for us is league 1 and weren’t good enough to get us promoted last year. Especially if we have aspirations (and rightly so) of competing for play offs/ promotions and maybe even the title.
  18. Considering there’s 6-10 players that are out of contract and either won’t be renewed or will leave, whatever way you cut it we will need a lot more than 2-3 signings. Just to simply keep a 20-23 man squad. Long, Hogarth, Bisland, McKay, Mackie, McGinn, Oliver, lawal, Ross, Morrison and shanley are all out of contract. That’s 11 players. Say you keep Morrison, Ross, Hogarth and shanley. That’s still 7 players we need to sign to keep the same squad size. Now, Morrison we will probably struggle to keep, and we will definitely need to replace him. Ross I would keep but he’s not nailed down a space in the starting 11. Shanley is too early to tell and the jury is still out on Hogarth.
  19. Euan Henderson is only on a one year contract. I would take him in the championship next season tbh.
  20. Yeah we still need 6-8 new signings next year to compete at the top end of the championship next season.
  21. Yeah, I think everyone would love the stadium to get completed. But that’s sort of the point I’m making if we could get back into the premiership and average 5.5k -6k home fans for a run of the mill premiership game. Then big games like local derbys, or Scottish cup quarter finals could attract even more fans, then at that point a fourth stand is both economically sensible and financial viable. I think for most fans a forth stand is an absolute pipe dream but the point I’m trying to make it that maybe, just maybe we aren’t actually that far away from it. Yes yes, not even promoted out of league 1 yet and I’m getting far too ahead of myself.
  22. Couple of things. Firstly, we were last in the premiership 15 years ago. A lot has changed including population etc. Secondly, the last few years have probably been the lowest point in Falkirks history and attendances hovered between 3500-3700. Last season when things got a little bit better attendances averaged about 4000 home fans. Therefore, our 25 unbeaten run has only really added on an extra 4-500 to the gate. Unfortunately, league 1 football playing against mostly part time teams still fails to attract a lot of fans. A Falkirk team, in the premiership, playing against a lot better opposition with a significant increase in standard could definitely attract an extra 1k -1.5k Falkirk fans through the door each week. Appreciate this is just my own opinion and others may disagree.
  23. 4400 Falkirk fans there last night, 4500 the week before. That’s in league one. Is it totally inconceivable that a Falkirk side competing in the top flight could attract close to 6000 home fans? At that point we would 100% need a fourth stand!
  24. I take it the rumour of Allan storming up the tunnel when shanely got brought on is just some bs made up on Facebook?
