  1. Very simple, we beat ourselves. A couple of defensive errors due to the mud. Also a team that play to the strengths of a very fast, skilful and experienced player who seeks advantage from the lack of linesman at this level. Yes they can score and be effective at their current level, but may find it not so easy to get away with when there’s proper assistant refs who should know what to be aware of. The referee was also playing to the home crowd/officials very much, understandable. Playing surface wise, don’t think the field is going to win many prizes when it’s wet. Don’t think it would have been a loss if the game had another 10 minutes.
  2. I think the big one is the 6th. May at NCP. DUFC Vs Glenrothes Been looking forward to this match since Guy Fawkes day (Glenrothes 3:2 DUFC)
  3. It’s a good initiative - to be applauded. Getting interest and fans into lower level tiers of football can only be an excellent thing. Nothings perfect,,,, it has its faults. But nothing was a surprise. It the clubs duty to communicate and highlight any local issues that may arise. simply Pre - purchase the tickets and where’s the issue. There’s nothing to contest.
  4. At the end of the season the only indicator that works for winners and losers, promoted and relegated is points per game. PPG 11/3 15/3 DUFC - 2.381 2.273 GlenR - 2.294 2.222 Nitten - 1.85 1.818 Kinnoull 1.947 1.737 Luncarty 2.05 1.944
  5. I’d say on the positive side of things. It’s certainly an experience and a good one. So many interested people. Brilliant to have passionately people inside the ground. If the local clubs had managed to get better results - that would have a perfect weekend. These fans and organisers done the sport proud.
  6. I’m pretty sure that those two will resource players.
  7. Exactly, that’s the agreed format. It seems strange considering the age mix of the Hoppers. I reckon at least 50%+ would be concession rate payers. But the Groundhoppers have NO concessionary tickets on their platform. I think every club advertised the fixtures as full rate entry. A difficult one with no easy answer, but there were alternatives. Concessions could be pre purchased before match day. It’s a communications exercise.
  8. That’s the level of competition that the fans want. Don’t know about the managers and committees thou, that’s a different kettle o’ fish
  9. Smudge,,,,, yes he’s a Mr Reliable. Wonder if it’ll happen? He seems to be in the starting 11 every week at Crossgates. Yes it was some home record. I’d never underestimate Coldstream, a very stoic side. They may be far away in terms of points and position but there’s a valid reason for that and it’s mostly down to their player availability over a lengthy period. They may be a far better team than their league position indicates. I think so, and wrote the same previously. DUFC with only four league defeats in such a tough league isn’t a poor record. Yes, you’re correct there’s the suspensions to factor in, but I reckon the coaching staff have taken account of that. Theres a very interesting week or two coming up in Perth. Commencing on the first of April it’s Luncarty v DUFC in the King Cup, followed up seven days later by the same fixture in the league. On the following Wednesday (12/4) it’s Kinnoull v Luncarty in the league and finally on Saturday 15/4 it’s Kinnoull v DUFC. Those three league matches in Perth may well have an effect on the final league standings, or maybe not. Lot of good forward players in the Luncarty side especially Davies and Scarborough. A fast and effective side. On the other hand, we’re not bad, we are in a good position. Nothing can be taken for granted. The best league competition for years. That’s what the clubs/EOSFA/players and sponsors want.
  10. I’m sure that heard an event organisers say that the ‘official’ group had around 135 tickets sold for the full match package. The rest being Indy lone travellers
  11. Thanks for that, makes sense. I’ll have a look at the Bonnyrigg numbers tomorrow.
  12. Yes, very much agree it’s great to see such an interest in the games and increase in the attendances. However, looking at the following table (stats provided from the excellent ‘Attendances’ pages and the above data) there’s a very big anomaly that sticks out. club AveAtt GhAtt Diff Tynie 113 448 +335 DUFC 237 553 +316 Haddy 228 462 +234 TJFC 503 607 +104 Mussy 203 557 +354 Rough analysis shows a Ground Hopper base of 300 (+/-50) across all the EoS matches. Strangely, when it comes to the LL team there’s either only 104 hoppers attending with approx 230 going elsewhere, or the TJFC faithfull have found watching the rugby more appealing than going to Forrester Park. If the ground hoppers who attended all the other matches consistently also entered Forrester Park, then that takes the home attendance to around the 300 level. Plainly, something just doesn’t add up. However, I’m sure there’s a very valid explanation . For clarification, O believe the attendances at each Groundhopper match are verified independent of the club. Just another mystery,,,,
  13. That was some scene earlier today at NCP. From nine in the morning Groundhoppers taking photos, looking for history, exploring everything about DUFC. A good bunch of folks, a lot of humour and common interests. Strangely the most popular photo to get was the trains passing the goals ,,,,, it’s a great sight. As reported above, a very healthy crowd in attendance, a very good day weather wise and a game with incidents. What more could anyone ask for?
  14. I think that today was the first match in TWELVE league games at NCP that DUFC did not take all the points. The winning streak had to end sometime. Hopefully we’ll now see something like another twelve wins on the Trott. Wonder what the visiting 300+ Groundhoppers thought about the match. Hopefully they enjoyed their visit to Sunny Dunny. What a strange week it’s been for results in this league - Luncarty, Glenrothes and DUFC all dropping valuable points.
  15. Decline happens relatively easily, difficult to stop
  16. Long way to go. Many ups and downs and unexpected results still to come. Won’t be settled for a while yet. I think WW will have a say in matters. They play more of the top 5 than any one else does. And WW seem to have turned the corner wrt results.
  17. Don’t think that’s the sort of Dear John,,,,, letter that id like to write ‘ Hi, I’m just wondering what league you’ll be relegated into?’ Can’t see them queueing up to respond.
  18. So the one Association that they’re not a member of, is the one that they’ll play in? You couldn’t make it up,,,,,, what a farce.
