FIRE Discussion and Resources

Some content I enjoy. https://www.madfientist.com Excellent podcast. Guy lives in Edinburgh now but is mainly US material. https://meaningfulmoney.tv Excellent podcast by a financial planner. He also has a subscription academy offering. I bought into the retirement planning as a founder mainly to access the VoyantGo software which is an excellent tool. https://theescapeartist.me/about/ Worth reading back some of his work. Subscribe to his email list. https://monevator.com What helped me understand low fees and DIY passive investing. Again really worth subscribing to regular emails. -
FIRE Discussion and Resources

The best financial advice I can give my kids is to - avoid consumer debt - spend less than you earn - invest the difference. The power of compound interest has huge impact on young people who squirrel away money into LISAs and SIPPS rather than buy the latest smart phones, flash cars and expensive clothes. Even a relatively small amount every month will pay massive dividends later on in life. Too many people are too busy buying things trying to impress people they don’t even like anyway! -
The Famous Aberdeen - Season 2022/23

I’d say big Jak is a better keeper than Lewis, but I’m biased. He has been the difference between Saints aiming for top 6 these last two seasons rather than relegation. Best keeper we have had since Campbell Money. -
The Big Relegation Thread

So basically St Mirrens inability to deal with the league’s swamp dwellers has cost them top 4 spot. Damn you both. I’d quite like to see St Mirren in bottom 6 just to see the final nails in the coffin. It might be quite interesting to see Aberdeen plummet like Hibs a few years back to make it even funnier. -

Maybe they might just decide that soccer is not for them and close you down. -

Will relegation be financially disastrous for Dundee? New stadium plans will go on hold I expect. -

I think some fans need to remember how close we were to dropping into the turd tier. Look what’s happened to Falkirk since they dropped down. They are likely to be there for another season. That club is in utter turmoil on and off the pitch. Jack Ross transformed a relegation doomed team into champions within 18months. He made the appropriate signings to rescue us from potentially part time football. He saved peoples jobs at the club. I reckon he probably was offered 3-4 times salary at Sunderland. They are a huge club. No way could he turn that opportunity down. Same goes for his assistants. He was a baw hair away from getting them promoted to the Championship with no doubt some massive bonuses on offer for him and his staff. He supposedly still stays in the North East with his young family. He is no doubt still being paid a handsome payoff by Hibs. I don’t see how he was a failure there. I think Hibs may regret the change they made. Jack is no different to anyone of us. We will put ourselves and our family first. The situation is no different to Jim Goodwin. He is a young and ambitious manager offered a significant pay rise at a bigger club. Yet only a few short weeks ago our run of games without a win fans were questioning whether Goodwin was the right guy to keep us in the league. Good luck to both of them in their careers. They were both great servants for St Mirren compared to the likes of Stubbs, Rae, Murray, Craig and Hay.

Dundee’s latest accounts. Looks like your owners really need your club to stay in this league or dip in once again to bail you out. I wonder how long they will continue with this joke club? -

I made it quite clear “in the last 50 years” ya fucking rocket! Poor education standards in Dundee. Not just in reading, but in accountancy. -
